3.9It’s a decent quad, but no way worth the 40 buck price tag even for a bomber. Flavor’s good, body’s a touch thin for a quad.
3.7Bottle/Fest.
A- Candy, oranges, sweet, dark fruits, tomato.
A- Golden color, hazy liquid, white head.
T- Tomato juice, sweet, cheap wine.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish.
O- Okay, so I’m not sure why I detected so much tomato aspect but as weird as it was, it was still tasty.
4.022 oz bottle in Trappist goblet. 2015 edition. Very different for a quad. 16.5% aged in wine barrels. 16.5% in oak rye whisky barrels and brewed with pomegranate. Quite fruity and fairly sweet. Does have a bit of alcohol burn. Not much head but fabulous aroma. Very complicated.
3.8650ml bottle @ home. 2015 Vintage.
Pours a semi-opaque reddish brown colour with a decent off-white head. Nose is caramel, fruity, some sourness I’m assuming from the barrels. Flavour is definitely fruity, it almost comes off as a sour dark cherry, but guessing it’s white wine and pomegranate. Medium bodied overall.
3.8Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a snifter. Hazy orange with small white head. Aroma is light candy sugar, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is complex candy sugar and oak.
3.9Lovely quad! Almost smells like a sour but it’s far from it! Fruity flavors & belgian spice happily meet to create a very good beer! Love the flavor explosion! Delicious!
4.122oz bottle of 2015 release. Pours a pale brown color with a bit of head. Sweet fruity pomegranate. Some banana and a little hot.
3.6Bomber shared. Clear copper pour. Light dark fruits and oak. Taste follows, some vanilla too. Not bad.
4.1Very nice Belgian beer. A nice balanced taste with a great lingering pallet.
4.1Bomber, 2015 vintage. Belgian yeast aroma with notes of dark fruit, pomegranate, white wine and light whiskey notes. Pours golden amber colored with a thin white head that has some retention and lacing. Starts with dark fruit, pomegranate and white wine vinous notes. Finishes smooth with spicy Belgian yeast, clove and very light whiskey and oak flavors. Fantastic, flavorful quad.
4.0On tap at BierCraft with Jamey and Brad. Pours slightly hazy golden with a weak white head. Aroma and taste are lots of pomegranate, tart, very fruity, some veeery weak barrels notes. Very good and rich flavor.
4.0Bomber poured a clear golden amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of fruitiness, cookie, yeast, vinous notes, vanilla and light oak. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a smooth finish. Flavors of cookie, straw, fruitiness, light vanilla, light vinous notes, light yeast and a hint of oak with a smooth lingering fruity finish.
3.922oz bottle pours out a copper color topped with a small head. Nose is big whisky barrel some grape notes pit fruit sweetness vanilla and spice. Taste is more of the heavy booze barrel notes grape touch pit fruit sweetness.
3.1Pomegranate and sweet aroma come from this slightly hazy orange brew. The taste is tartish and pomegranate very full bodied and decent carb. Sweet and balanced decently. Very sweet.
3.4Bottle share. Pours a clear copper color with a small bubbly off-white head. Aromas of banana, clove, caramel, apple, wood, cherry. Flavor followed the nose perfectly and I didn’t get any pomegranate. Medium body, thinner texture, lively carbonation, and a finish on the sweet side.
3.8On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served displaying a hazed, orangey amber color, with a finger’s width of off white head foam that expeditiously diminished to a persistent ring, and a light layer of film. The nose was subtle across the board at first, so a period of warming reaped rewards. Noticed a bit of initial oaky/woodiness, with a hint of smoke? or I merely picked up on Wag’s last cigarette break. Alcohol lurked, with esters as cherry, grape, dried fruit, and pomegranate that showed some expression, along with a blend of citrus & malt sweetness, orange peel, spicy phenols, subtle, barrel induced vanilla, and a light vinous nature. Medium+ bodied, with decent carbonation, the taste was similar notes as the aroma’s, with some tart astringency, modest earthy bitterness, and booziness that built up a pleasantly lingering warmth. Definite Belgian yeast influences, with the barrel aging positioning this closer to a Barleywine than a Quad for me.
3.522 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer was a ha y copper color with a white head of foam. The aroma is over the top with boozy character. Strong whiskey notes. Moderate fruit, and lots of wet woody notes. Big body and moderate carbonation.
4.3Red brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, spices, wood, vanilla, and alcohol. Taste of dried fruits, caramel malts, sherry, spices, tobacco, wood, and a bit of alcohol in the finish.
3.8reddish gold pour. Aroma rye whiskey, cherries. Tastes banana, cloves, tobacco, dates sugar, oak, spicy rye. heat some syrup by also sorta dry creamy.
3.6Light brown with a pale head. Aroma is pear, caramel, golden raisins. Medium-full bodied, fruity on the palate with a light booziness to finish. Taste is golden raisins, dried pears, honey.
3.4Draught at Darby’s Pub, Vancouver
Cloudy orange color with small compact head. The aroma is a bit fruity and sour, that’s the barrel. Good body, quite sweet; it doesn’t have much malt depth, it has loads of fruity esters given by that American yeast, a bit of character given by the barrels, the wine barrel being the better contributor, with mild sourness, vinous touch, a bit woody and astringent in the final. The alcohol us well managed.
Nice beer, I wouldn’t buy a bottle of it though.
3.3Pours into a copper, cloudy liquid. It smells heavily of a variety of fruit. Taste is more of the same. The fruit flavor is kind of muddled together but maybe banana is most pronounced. There is also a hint of wine acidity, but otherwise the barrels don’t really come through. Slight carbonation and guess down smoothly. All in all it’s a decent beer but not necessarily worth the price tag.
3.7Appearance: clear slightly orange-tinged pale amber with a short thin light beige head diminishing rapidly to a thin cap, patchy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: complex, pomegranate, raspberry, caramel, oak, vinous, light whiskey, dark fruit. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, modoerate-low bitter, light tart. (8/10) Palate: medium-full body, moderate carbonation, malty sweet and warming finish. (3/5)
Pretty well-behaved for a double digit boozy beast, but the flavours are complex, perhaps to the point of being a little overwhelming - the blend of different barrel ageings is a bit challenging, and I’m not completely convinced that vinous oak and whiskey work all that well together. Decent Belg-ish style, but not a home run. (15/20)
3.8pours orange amber a moderate khaki head. Aroma of pomegranate, cherries, spice and wood. Flavor is a little sweet. Cherries, pomegrate, wood, spice, dry red wine and toffee. Alcohol warming in the finish. Medium/full bodied with a sticky texture. Moderate carbonation. A nice quad and the barrel ageing gives it a unique complexity. The wine barrels win out of the rye barrel here. You don’t get much of the barrel ageing in the aroma but the wine is present in the taste. Little pricey for the value here but definitely a very good quad.
3.4650ml bottle pours a golden color with a finger of white head that retains well and leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is slightly woody with some grape notes and sugars. Taste is a big malty and fruity sweetness with a mild spicy hop bitterness. Light to medium bodied. Alcohol is well hidden. A very simple quad that is quite sweet and not as complex as it should be. A little disappointing.
3.465 cl bottle (10.9% abv). BBE 08.05.2016.
Pours clear orange-golden color with a small head. Sweet ripe fruits on the aroma, must admit, the pomegranate is present, very faint hops, wood from the barrels, not quite getting the whiskey. Rye on the flavor, sweet caramel, mild berry notes, wood and subtle whiskey notes. Balance is not that great, feels a bit messy or to be exact, leans more towards the fruits and not the malt body. Sweet and a bit disappointing.

3.522 oz bottle. 10.9%. BB 05/08/16. Courtesy of olio.
Cloudy amber color with a small light tan head.
Sweetness, sugar, mild whiskey, mild bitterness and some alcohol in the aroma.
The flavor is sweetness, fruits, caramel, more sweetness, some alcohol, dark fruits and prunes. Quad?
3.6Draught at Harry’s Hofbrau. Pours clear whiskey color with minimal off-white head. Not terribly complex, but enjoyable and quaffable.
3.6Bottle. Pours dark golden. Aroma is fruity with whiskey. Taste is sweet and spicy with a alcohol whiskey sweet spice finish. lingering fruit.
3.9From a 650ml bottle on 2/1/2015. Pours a clear dark golden with a small head. The nose is typical big Belgian - fruit, yeast, candy. Take a sip and it’s sweet and fruity, and definitely lighter than you’d normally expect from a quad. This is a really sugary, fruity, oaky sipper, with a hint of warming alcohol. Pretty easy drinking for 11%. The texture is slightly syrupy and the carbonation soft. Not super complex or challenging but very enjoyable.
