Deschutes Twilight Ale

Deschutes Twilight Ale

A lighter, yet full-flavored, aromatic Ale for the long days of summer. Twilight’s solid malt foundation pairs with distinctive Amarillo hops for flavors every bit as intriguing as bigger, heavier ales. A back porch, lingering sunset wonder.

3.4 Bottled. Orangey pour. Some citrus and malty biscuit. Not a bad ale but pretty inoffensive.
3.2 Draught @ Churchill’s Pub & Grille, San Marcos. Aroma has biscuity malt and grain. Also some toffee. Flavour has toffee, menthol and some grapefruity hops. Pretty basic ale - a balanced one though.
2.8 Draught @ Churchill’s Pub & Grille, San Marcos, CA. Pours a golden colour with a small foamy head. Aroma of grains, wet earth and some sweetness. Flavour of sweet malts, caramel, mild bitterness and harsh graininess. Light bodied. Sweet and almost bulky. Old? I don’t know, but feels useless.
3.0 Tap @ Churchill’s Pub & Grille, San Marcos. Pours golden color with a small head. Hay on the nose, faint hips, pale malts and fruity notes. The doable had hay, yeast, orange and pale malts. Really boring. 4313
2.7 Bottle. A- Pine, citrus, orange, bitter. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Pine, bitter, citrus, wheat. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Started off pretty good then seemed to get musty on the nose and palate. Left a bit to be desired.
3.2 Clear amber with two fingers of long lasting head. Mostly smell the hops with light citrus and spruce. Grassy, light citrus, and piney taste. A bit too hoppy for me as a summer ale.
3.3 Hazy orange pour, see off white head. Nose is citrus. Bitter. Middle is grapefruit & tangerine on a bed of medium roasted malt. Finish is crisp and fairly short.
3.5 12oz bottle, poured into a tulip. The aroma of the big, white puffy and sudsy head is initially damp and musty, but this fades and turns to a floral spruce and orange/mango blend with a slight hint of cat pee late buried in there. The beer is clear and oily looking with a caramel gold hue and a light effervescence. The head retains a moderate amount and it leaves behind a good amount of messy lace. The taste is a muted, medium bitter medium and light sweet. The beer is slick and thin with a medium light body and a moderate, soft fuzz. The flavor profile is lighty soapy with mellow notes of caramel, a light roast character, oranges, and pastry dough, with some tropical notes late. It finishes with a clean spruce and citrus combination and an aftertaste of bread crust and muted, bitter citrus that’s slightly cloying and strong at first, but fairly short lasting.
2.6 12 oz. bottle. Pours amber with long lasting creamy white head. Aroma of hops. Tastes lightly bitter with a lasting bitterness.
3.6 Bottle from Wine Merchant Findlay. Pours a mostly clear orange with a white head. Nose is orange, light citrus, and a mild grassy note. Flavor is similar orange and a grassy hops with some caramel and malt. Light to medium in body and a nice pale ale overall.
3.2 Bottle. Pours a copper gold color. Aroma and taste are citrus and floral with some malty sweetness.
3.8 A beautiful and inviting summer citrus, yeast, hoppy smell. Taste is light citrus to start and ends a little dry, slightly bitter. Heavier than it looks but still light and enjoyable for summer.
3.2 Clear medium orange. Small sticky white head. Sweet orange. Biscuit. Grass. Caramel. Very Dry. Moderate bitter. The finish leaves me scraping my tongue against the roof of my mouth.
3.3 lots of orange, nice malt with some caramel, good summer beer, ood carbonation, easy drinking
3.5 At Dads. Really good summer ale. Refreshing easy, drinking but still retails plenty of flavor. Ale fruitiness. Orange flavors maybe? Serving: Bottle
3.7 Tap at Andrews Pizza. Very nice summer ale. Slight sweetness and bitterness. Fruity taste.
3.9 This is one of the few Summer beers where I actually feel like I could seek it out in the season. That’s something Fall and Winter beers typically claim. Floral hop, ripe fruit aroma. More ripe fruits on the tongue, plum and cherry....subtle tobacco in the finish.
3.4 From a bottle at Genevieve’s it is a clear golden color with a slight head the aroma citrus and the taste is a thin bitter taste that finishes with a white grapefruit ending
3.4 From a bottle in Jackson Hole. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Grassy nose. Flavors of hay and resin. Light bitter finish.
3.3 Sample on tap at the PDX Public house. Pours orange Amber slim off white head. Mild malt sweetness, slight cat piss, flowers, mild bitterness, wet grains on the finish. Light body.
3.2 Golden with a good pale head. Aroma is fresh bread, orange blossom, caramel, hint of summer fruits. Light bodied, lightly fruity and lightly bitter on the palate, lightly astringent finish. Taste is grainy malt, orange, flowers.
3.6 A few 12oz bottles over the weekend. Poured a golden copper color with a small white head. Aroma was nice citrus notes, floral hop notes. Flavor was nice light malts, with citrus hops. Pretty tasty actually.
2.8 Pours a mild copper with an off white head. Aroma is slightly metallic with a tinge of hops. Taste is mild at first with a bit of a skunky bite on the back end. Not a terrible beer but I’ve had better.
3.6 Bottle->SA. Bright copper-gold with moderate white head. A: cirrus and floral hops, lemongrass. T: bittersweet bright citrus hops, grains. Nice.
3.6 Light fruit aroma with the banana bread type quality I’m so used to with Deschutes. Flavor follows suit with a nice toasty finish. Bitter, but smooth at the same time. High standard light pale ale.
3.3 Pours light orange from the bottle, average head. Aroma is light pine, bread. Taste follows through with moderate hops, some malty bread sweetness, and a great chewy mouthfeel. Not a pale ale, really--I think of this as reminiscent of a steam beer, or an unusually hoppy kolsch. Great balance and drinkability. I think better than the average rating here suggests.
3.5 Tap. Nice lacing. Clear dark gold. Bit of hop nose. Pretty hoppy for a summer ale, tempered by very bready yeast.
3.1 Not too bitter. Nice malt base and some hop aroma, a good balance. Tastes a bit citrusy. Medium body.
1.6 Bitter but not overly so. Less harsh than a lot of Pales and very flavorful.
3.0 Called Twilight Summer Ale on label. Nothing unique, but decent. Muted aroma and taste.
