3.8Pours dark full sticky body lots of peach and pine. Nose is pine and grapefruit.
3.6Old rating. Pretty dark orange. Floral, citrus hops over bready base. Good solid IPA.
3.9Bottle. Beautiful pour. Orange-amber in color with perfect head that stays around. Hoppy aroma with a bit of floral. Ever so slight sweet taste, plus hops, bitterness, and a little pine. Thumbs up!
3.7Orange pour. Offwhite with lacing that lasts until the end of the glass. Grassy aroma. Raisin taste on the front end with a good, strong hop taste in the aftertaste.
3.7cloudy amber color; citrusy, floral hop aroma; fruity, floral hop flavor with citrusy notes; medium bodied bready malt base
3.0Bottle pour. Hazy dark golden with small off white head. Aroma is mostly hoppy, but has light grassy and caramel. Medium body. Grass, earthy, and strong hop taste with a good bitter aftertaste.
3.722oz bottle, hazy amber-orangeish hue, with a frothy bubbly white head, with a wet earthy vegetal floral soapy, leafy, grassy, citrus hoppy, faint funky yeast nose, with a lemon pie crust, faint pale, toasted malt, lemon marmalade, leathery accent, and a bread dough, greenish vegetable, cedary note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate, with a soft funky, bretty yeasty, dough, fruity, lemon tea Leaf, earthy vegetal flowery piney, citrus, tobacco leaf, grassy, leafy, soapy hoppy, light lemon, grapefruit peel character, with some faint coniferous, cedary, lemon pie crust, mint leaf, vegetable green pea flavours, leading towards a mild funky, bretty, dough, fruity yeastiness, citrusy, lingering leafy, grassy, piney, citrus hop bitterness finish.
3.5Tap at World Craft Beer Tasting 2014. Balanced sort of nose, with caramel quite apparent. and small hopping behind. Amber/copper color. Initial is much as the aroma, balanced, solid caramel backbone. Piney hopping steps up in mid palate. Medium strength hops in final. Has nice hop jump. Not over the top. Pleasant.
3.6Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a medium beige head. Nose is pine/resin, caramel, citrus. Flavor is sweet up front and finishes bitter, follows the nose. Solid, I enjoyed this one, but it wasn’t as malty as other DIPAs I’ve tasted.
3.6On tap at the GJBF in Osaka 2014. A clear deep copper color. It has a somewhat musty resinous hoppy pungent nose. Well balanced though bitter and while not complex it is satisfying as all hell .
3.9Poured from bomber. Good mellow hops, some maltiness. Dark murky yellow color. 8.9 bd. 8.3 bobby
3.6On tap @ Malarkey’s. Pours dark golden amber with medium-thin white head. Aroma is mild caramel malt and thin floral hops. Taste is sweet lightly syrupy dark caramel malt and piney bitter hops. Very malt forward DIPA with lingering bitter finish. Not bad, and one you can usually find cheap and easily in the PNW. Could use more flavor from the hops though.
3.6Bottle, brought back from the Xmas road trip. Pours a nice caramel color topped with a monster beige head. Lots of sticky lacing follows a lumpy finger to the bottom of the glass. Nose is good, a sweet and piney blend. Good caramel malts and citrus balance the florals. Overall quite easy to drink, but potent. Good stuff.
3.9Bomber. Unclear lighter orange copper, impressive creamy rocky off-white head mutes aroma of herbal spicy hops. Herbal coniferous spicy floral hop forward taste, firm sweet caramel malts, some citrus. Livelier carbonation, medium bodied, more aggressively hopped. Solid brew, but a bit tame for an Impy, which makes it: LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)
3.4Draft at Mountlake Terrace brewpub. Darker opaque orange, soapy foam. Crisp hop, good malting. A little soapy in middle. Solid taster, fruity too.
3.4Decent IPA, though I prefer the previous/original version. Maltiness kind of snuffs out the delicate hop aromas. Some citrus surfaces, but it’s kind of weak. Sort of nutty and resinous. Not as hoppy (flavor-wise, aroma-wise or bitter-wise) as you would expect for a double IPA, let alone one with 75 IBUs. Still, it’s a decent beer.
3.4Tap at Marciero. Fruity, resinous aroma, some caramel, rich stone fruits. Deep amber color with a fine, lacy head. Nice enough flavor, cherry, muscat, peach, plum, pine, a bit of chocolate. Full. Ok, but not enough flavor for the strength, and a bit too thick. Very old school.
2.7Eh. Bitter. Would have been better if complemented by some other kinds of hop. Not bad but not good either.
3.7A solid beer, however it is surprisingly bitter. It’s nice but there doesn’t seem to be much complexity to it.
3.8For having "100% Columbus hops" it’s impressive that so many hop notes come out in this brew. A bit of earthiness, spice, and slight piney and citrusy nose. Nice dry finish. Overall and enjoyable 2XIPA.
3.7Bottle: Poured a bright orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrus and floral aroma is quite engaging. Taste is also dominated by citrus notes with some floral undertones and some lightly sweet caramel malt notes. Pine notes are also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. A bit too sweet for my taste but still extremely enjoyable.
3.5#4615, bottle. copper gold pour. sweet tea, orange, caramel maltiness. medium bitterness. not boozing but has some oomph to it. medium mouthfeel. decent but a tad too sweet
3.5Hazy orange gold pour with a light white head. Aroma is sweet artificial pine. Taste is citrus and pine hippy. Mild bite at end. This would have rated much better just a few years ago, but competition is getting better.
3.5Bottle. More or less the standard pour -- golden, amber with a super firm, pillowy top of white foam. There’s little aroma, just a hint of pine. The beer drinks with a decided astringency, finishing with a super dry earthy, sap-based acidity. Sticks with you for a while. (#5205, 8/21/2013)
3.1Sample from bomber. Orange pour, with a white head. Caramel malt, light citrus, light piney hops, bread, and cardboard. Not a very good IIPA, the bottle might be old.
2.7Hazed light orange pour with a white head. Smells like old, stale hops. Fish food, cardboard, orange peel, and some body odor. Sweet caramel malt, too. The flavor is a bit better; more citrus forward. Some pine, caramel, and a bit of bitterness. Still somewhat off/oxidized/stale.
3.422 oz bottle from Total Wine Jacksonville. Fruity kind of citrus aroma. Poured a cloudy golden amber. A nice thick fluffy head caught me by surprise as it erupted from the from the glass. Malty bready flavor with some notes of lemon. The pine is there in the finish.
3.122 ounce bottle from Total Wine Sacramento, explosive on opening (bacterial?), sour aroma and flavor.
3.9Draft @ Diamond Knot. Clearish amber with a beige head. Aroma is full of hops, citrus, pine, floral and grass with a light malt scent. Flavor is firmly bitter throughout with the malt just there for balance. Medium body with a dry, bitter finish. Very nice IPA, super fresh, hoppy and dry.
3.6Bottle - Grains, piney hops and some slight malts. Clear copper with a thick head. Piney and resinous, with a bit of grains and bitterness. Decent balance with a touch of alcohol heat.
