Dick's Cream Stout

Dick's Cream Stout

Dick’s Cream Stout is black and incredibly creamy with flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. A large portion of highly roasted black unmalted barley gives this beer its opaque black color and deep flavors. Additionally, a generous percentage of unmalted flaked barley gives this beer its unmatched creaminess. We add just enough hops for complexity.

3.4 Pours very dark, almost black, with very little tan head. Aroma is a bit thin, notes of malt, coffee, and dark fruits. Taste is smoother and a bit creamier. Very drinkable and rich, but not as complex or rich as an Imperial. Nicely done!
3.3 Bottle with Carla. Pours dark brown with dark tan foam. Smells roasty with a touch of sweetness. Tastes creamy but thin with light coffee and chocolate.
3.2 Dark brown, see-through cola-color at the edges. Fizzy light-brown head, fades to nothing after a couple of minutes. Aroma is pine, grass, roast, coffee, and chocolate, all in equal amounts. It doesn’t really smell that sweet or malty though. Light and creamy body. Flavor has a touch of yummy malt sweetness, but this isn’t really a cream/milk/sweet stout in my book. There’s just not enough milky sweetness and body. Grass, light coffee, light bitterness, light sweet malt. There is a lovely twang of yummy caramel-milk that comes out near the aftertaste once the beer is warmed up. It’s the saving grace for this beer, as it is really not impressive otherwise.
3.5 22 oz bottle from the new Freddys in Wilsonville. $3.99 Black ale with a HUGE creamy ,thick tan coloured head. Caramel, cereal and milk chocolate aromas..pretty nice actually Creamy, chocolate( milk) with a nice roasted malt backing. hints of treacle. Nice mouthfeel..leaves a nice coffee bitterness Good drinkable stout.
3.8 12 oz bottle into English pint. This bottle reads 5.5% ABV. Pours opaque black with a gigantic tan head that recedes slowly. Aroma is strong in DME first and foremost, then caramel and cinnamon bread. Taste is a little sweet but more bitter; nice roasty coffee character. Highly carbonated for the style, full-bodied. Lightly creamy. Flawed but tasty nonetheless.
3.0 Bottle shared by a friend. Black pour with a huge tan head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and a vegetal note. Roasty flavor with some chocolate and a creamy character.
3.5 From a shared tasting with Strykzone via Facebook as we puzzled over this brew. The 22 oz bottle poured a rich dark brown with fairly large tan head that just sat there for about 5 minutes. Superb retention. Thick lacing rings left behind as it slowly settled. Consumed at 50 degrees which is my cellar temperature in the middle of winter. The nose is coffee and chocolate malts with some funky peat aromas as well. The body is medium and the mouthfeel is reasonably smooth. The flavor is stronger on the coffee than the chocolate, and it has a light dry bitter finish. Generally on the light side of sweet stouts, but quite drinkable.
3.5 Thanks to Hayduke for this one. He, his brother Rick, and I shared via Facebook chat. Very dark with almost no red. A tan head that faded into a ring. Aroma is coffee first followed by chocolate and that is followed by peat. The flavor is almost the same. There are some bitter and tart hops as undertones. Light dark fruit makes an occasional appearance. Not among the greats but a nice beer. There is enough going on to be interesting.
3.6 Tastes very, very chocolate-y and is so very smooth. There’s a little bit of milky cream flavor as well that mingles well with the chocolate and coffee that predominates this brew. Not terribly bitter, but the flavor has a mellow bitterness that is balanced with the creaminess. Just the right texture as well.
3.6 12 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and some chocolate. Flavours of dark roasted malt, followed by espresso and light cocoa. Surprisingly rich and complex - I didn’t expect this. Very good.
3.5 12 oz bottle. Dark chocolate and alcohol aroma. Very deep brown almost black appearance. Starts with a sour chocolatey taste and ends with a bitter finish. Decent stout!
4.1 This is a rich, smooth, chocolatey stout. Though savory and robust not as filling as many stouts are. It doesn’t appear to be in wirde destribution so when you see it stock up. I know I will.
2.8 Not a great beer at all, not terrible, I wouldnt buy it again. I was expecting substantially more. a tad bland.
3.6 (bottle - 12 oz) Dark brown pour with more than half of the glass being thick tan foam. Light roasted chocolate malts at the start of the nose with some lightly roasted coffee hints as well. Some sweetness. Roasted malts at the start with a nice coffee middle. Some very light cream sweetness comes near the end with a heavy roasted bitterness at the end. Way, way, way too carbonated.
3.6 12oz bottle. Opaque dark brown with ruby tints, nice thick creamy head. Aroma of semi-sweet cocoa, and some roast coffee. Very smooth, slightly sweet chocolaty flavors. Well balanced bitter roastiness with some coffee notes. Very solid stout.
3.8 Pours solid black with a bubbly brown head that leaves a small ring. Aroma of caramel and chocolate malts. taste is sweet with lots of creamy malt body and a slightly burnt bitter finish. Soft carbonation. Very nice but not overdone.
3.5 Bottle. Pours a clear dark chestnut brown with a creamy almond coloured head. sweet roasty chocolate aroma. Creamy, silky mouthfeel, lots of chocolate and roast, a little ashy, some nice lactic sweetness in the end. Very enjoyable.
3.6 22 oz. bottle- Pours black with almost no head yet again, aroma is chocolate, not bad. The flavor is mellow and creamy with an underlying bitterness, not a bad cream stout, doesn’t push any boundaries though.
3.7 Draft. Pours a black body with a tan head. Cream y with a roast y bitter body mild sweeter chocolate tones with a light creamy body. Ash y mineral tones, burnt coffee rinds and a mildly sweet finish.
3.3 courtesy of goodzoid10 pours dark brown, light mocha head. aroma of sweet dark fruit like nose, light roast, medium chocolate bitterness. flavor, 2nd Dick’s beer that appears to be slightly under expectations, keeps a lactic like palate, some roasted malts, dark fruits; currants, caramel. Medium carbonation with a lingering fruit sourness that I got in the previous Dick’s, light bitter chocolate with roast finish. There is something off with the few beers I’ve had from them.

3.2 Not going to lie -- I just wanted to try something called "Dicks cream stout." Served cold on tap at Ginger Man, NYC. Nothing special from this sweet stout.
3.5 Black as it should be with nice creamy tab head. Light roasted aroma. Flavor is nice notes of deep roasted malt chocolate and a bit of bitter biscuit. Very similar to deschuetes obsidian stout. Best I have had from dicks.
3.7 Very dark and thick. Very nice roasted malt aroma. Some coffee, light chocolate, as well. Flavor is full of bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, and some coffee. Body is a bit more carbonated than I would prefer in this type of stout, but still nice. Overall a very nice stout.
4.0 Nice roasted malt aroma with a creamy sweetness. Jet black, sticky head, full lacing. Full creamy body, strong roasted black malt (but not burnt), some coffee notes and very satisfying. Great sweet stout, amazed that there’s no lactose.
3.9 I used to buy this by the case directly from the brewery (cheaper that way). This is my favorite beer from Dick’s. Quality varies from 2.5 to 4.5 (out of 5), but it is most often in the upper range (3.5 to 4.5). Bitter Chocolate flavor usually predominates, otherwise smooth and very drinkable for a stout. Often identical in taste to Samuel Smith’s Tadcaster Porter. I no longer drive to the brewery since they stopped making their Champagne Cola (like a Vanilla Coke only better), which tied as one of my favorite sodas of all time.
3.2 12 oz bottle poured into a pint. Black in color with a short, light brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate powder. Medium-heavy body. Average carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel and finish. Not too bitter or complex, but tasty.
3.3 On tap at the brewpub. Black with a dark beige head. no aroma. Has a nice smoked and roasted flavor. Very quick finish. Great lacing in the glass. This is a good stout.
3.6 Bottle from brewdad, thanks for the extra! Porus a dark brown with a small/medium tan head. Aroma has nice roasted notes with chocolate, and some notes of heavy whipping cream. Flavor has some sweetness, chocolate, roasted malt and a slight sweet coffee finish. Good beer.
3.4 A nice sweet stout via trade with Chewy. Thanks man. Nice sweet milky aroma with a hint of coffee. Pour was a beautiful deep dark brown with a fizzy bubbly one finger tan head. Taste was actually very bitter but good. Roasty dark coffee and chocolate malt with a mouth drying bitter aftertaste. Very strong and fizzy carbonation. Nice beer.
