Dieu du Ciel! Rigor Mortis Abt

Dieu du Ciel! Rigor Mortis Abt

Strong brown ale inspired by the beer brewed by Belgian Trappist monks. Very little bitterness, this beer has intense malty and sweet flavours, mixed with the taste of chocolate and caramel. It presents complex red fruit and spice flavours due to the type of yeast that is used during the brewing process. This beer is at its best only after it has aged for six months. The Rigor Mortis are complex beers designed and brewed with patience and care in the tradition of the great Belgian Abbey beers.

Rigor Mortis Abt is brewed only once a year, and is sold in April until stocks last.

3.8 Bottle, 325 ml, courtesy of JFK10000. Shared with him and Miro B. Brown with beige head. Sweet. Caramel, dried fruit, figs, bit yeasty. Bitter finish. Medium bodied.
3.9 Schiuma beige chiaro fine presente. Colore mogano, abbastanza limpida. L’intensità olfattiva è buona. Aromi: nocciola, frutta sotto spirito, caramello. L’intensità gustativa è buona. Corpo pieno.
3.7 Kraftig, mørk øl. Kunne være god til vinterens gryderetter.
3.4 My whole family is crazy about this beer, I never understood it. It is certainly a nice beer, but I have had better drinks.
4.0 Bottle purchased at Beertopia. Poured dark hazy brown, off white head. Aroma of fruit, caramel, raisin, sweet brown sugar, malty. Taste was mild sweet, caramel, fig, dates, wine, dark fruits.
4.3 Bonne brune sucrée
3.4 Bottle shared at a tasting at zvsn place. Hazy reddish-copper with white head, some particles. Sweatish aroma with notes of dried fruits, caramel, white bread and nuts. The flavor is sweet and mild sour with notes of alcohol, bread, caramel, yeasts, dried fruits, dulce de leche, oxidised. Full-bodied.
4.0 Aroma: fresh malt, hints of pineapple, noticeable alcohol Appearance: dark brown hazy, lasting tan head with patchy lacing Flavour: super sweet malt with hints of choc & carbon, balanced bitterness Palate: thick, gently carbonated, finishes carbon & bitter

3.0 Bottled on 12/09/2016 today's date 2/04/2019 says potential aging color looks brownish reddish kinda looking at tamarindo thick creamy head lots of floaters in the glass smell of dried fruits spices metallic taste bitter aftertaste fruits yeast alcohol wine
4.3 Bottle. Iced tea brown, almost no head. Light malty aroma, biscuits, yeast. Really pleasant cookies, malts, dried apricot, fig, dates, sweet bread flavors. No frills on this one, really good.
3.4 Drożdżowe, fenolowe, tytoniowe, przyprawowe, raczej półwytrawne, alkohol niewyczuwalny w smaku. Interesujące, koneserskie. Ja za głupi jestem.
4.4 An excellent abbey beer, for once not coming from Belgium. Not surprising considering the quality of the brewery. Thick and sweet, dark fruit and boozy. Jess let me try it with her. Picked up at Beertopia in 2018.
3.9 Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark brown with limited foam. Aroma is malty, caramel, a little boozy. Body is quite dense with moderate carbonation. Taste is pretty sweet, limited bitterness. Finish is fairly long and sweet.
3.8 From a bottle medium amber pour, sturdy light beige head. Nice caramel and some earthy peaty aromas. A bit more roasty in the malt flavors compared to other Quads but a smooth rich finish. Very nice and sipable.
4.1 Deep chestnut brown under a thin foamy light tan head. Lovely complex nose of toffee, cocoa, stone fruit, and subtle spice. Mellow rich flavor that’s deep and malty with notes of caramel and spice and red fruit and a kiss of cocoa. Full body with lingering warmth and Belgian yeast complexity.
4.0 Bottle. Amber-bronze color, a bit misty, yellowish foam. Aroma: fruity, slightly spicy, sunflower seeds, esters, alcohols, dried fruits, a little sweetness, phenols. Taste: fortified wine, caramel, toffee, dried fruits, light spice, a little wood, strong, good.
4.0 Smell - medium strong, some hop and caramel. Foam - some alcohol flavor, bitter, sweet, medium soft, not creamy. Taste - sweet, some bitterness, caramel, nice.
3.5 Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles' place. Thanks Tom. Clear gold with a quickly dissolving beige head. Somewhat yeasty, fruity, dried fruit aroma, sweet taste but not alcoholic, fermented fruit. Full body, mild fizz, long, slightly alcoholic finish, bitter and fruity aftertaste.
4.0 Bottle. Pours a hazy brown with a huge white head that dissipates to a thin ring. Malty aromas--toffee, raisin, dark fruit, spice. Rich, malty flavors--dark fruit, raisin, cocoa, a bit of toffee, spice, grape. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. Substantial alcohol warmth in the finish. Delicious!
4.5 (∞-fruit-sec-sucré (pruneau-raisin, miel), > brune-épicée (cannelle, muscade, poivre rose), alcool, > sucre (trop))
3.9 Gushing po otwarciu, piana obfita, szybko jednak opada do firanki, miedziana, zmętniona barwa. W aromacie fenole w typie różowego pieprzu, ciasto drożdżowe z morelami, rodzynki... Smak słodki, tu z kolei kandyzowane owoce, miód, drożdże, zioła... Nieduża, migdałowo pikantna goryczka, średnie wysycenie, ładnie ukryte procenty, nieco oleista faktura. Ogólnie drożdżowo fenolowy quad, akcenty estrowe stanowią bardziej tło całości - taki blend tripla i BDSA, nadal jednak jest to przyjemnie deserowe piwo, choć do belgijskich klasyków w stylu trochę brakuje...
3.6 Bottle @ home shared with Joeren86. Hazy dark amber color, decent sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, sweetish, lightly a touch of raisins, light caramel, ABV is noticeable but not offensive. Full body, medium carbonation.
3.9 Clear red amber colour with lacy head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of sweet malts and brown sugar. Really rich and warming.
3.5 Pours a slightly hazy garnet/brown with a thin but retentive light tan head. Slightly sour fruit and yeast aroma. Taste is sweet caramel malt, dried dark fruit, some sourness and a bready character. Mild alcohol notes. Somewhat busy, but remains in balance. Pretty good!
