Dieu du Ciel! Solstice d'Été aux Cerises

Dieu du Ciel! Solstice d'Été aux Cerises

Abv varies from 5% to 6.5%.

German inspired sour wheat beer (based on our Été Indien). The obvious and domineering acidity of this beer is obtained by letting the unboiled wort go sour for several days. The Solstice d’Été is made complete by the addition, during the fermentation process, of a phenomenal quantity of whole fruit (raspberries or cherries) which compensate for the sourness of the beer. The result is a very refreshing beer where both acidity and fruity flavours dominate wholeheartedly.

3.6 Enjoyed at the brewpub on my Quebec Beer Run October 2017. Pours a red colour with a red-pink head and lacing all-around. Cherry aromas with some sugars and hints of vanilla cream. Sour tasting with the cherries showing in the finish. The mouthfeel is slightly tarty, but crisp overall. Quite easy drinking, refreshing summer fruity beer that is a step up from regular fruit beers.
3.4 (Tap) bright fluorescent red colour with a small pinkish head; aroma of cherry juice; balanced flavour with a long, light sour finish
3.7 Kran. Aromat głównie malinowy, landrynkowy. W smaku kwaśne, malinowe, orzeźwiające.
3.8 Sample at Beavertown Extravaganza 2017. A reddish coloured beer with a pink head. Aroma and flavour of cherries, earth and with a tart finish.
3.6 Tap@Beavertown Extravaganza 2017, London - red coloured pour with white pinkish head. Medium sour fruity with cherry fruity prominence, notes of straw, wheat, funky, yeast, tart cherry fruity finish.
3.4 On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. Aroma has sweet macerated cherries and cherry preserve notes. Taste is mostly tart, dry and fruity. It's decent but quite simple.
4.1 Aroma is all cherry. Just loads and loads of cherry. Very fruity aroma, just a light tartness. Taste is also a cherry bomb, sour cherry, melon, peach.
3.6 Keg at the BeaverFest 2017 Saturday... Deep red.. Thin tan lacing.. Soft earthy cherries fruit nose.. Juicy dry cherries
3.1 Tap at BeaverEx 2017, London. Colour is deep dark ruby with reddish white head. Aromas and flavours: Berries, red berries, blue berries and some sourness. Berry overdose.
3.2 Tap. Glowing red color with tiny white ring. Aroma is artificial cocktail cherry, wheat, almonds, yoghurt. Taste is the same. Medium carblnation. Too artificial for me. I love Dieu du Ciel, but I'm quite disappointed by the two solstice d'été I've had.
3.7 Tap at beavertown extravaganza. Nose is cherry, spicy, kardamom, cinnamon. Palate is cherry Joghurt. Cinemmon. Very nice cherry.
4.0 Keg at beaverfest. Pours deep ruby, nose is cherry, almond, banana, spices, taste is juicy, tart cherry, funky.
3.8 Draft at the brewery. The body is clear cherry and the head is medium and pink. The aroma has cherry and raspberry, slightly sour. The taste is cherry and sour with being too tart.
3.8 June 2017 - Bottle share at Leighton’s. Thanks to Scopey for this top 50 berliner. As ’Dieu du Ciel Solstice d’Été aux Cerises’, 5.2%. French beer names sound more exotic, that’s for sure. Pours a dark ruby purple, opaque with a foamy pale pink head. Aroma has lots of cherry and Jolly Rancher sweets, plum, pungent fruits. Body is light and frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is tangy lemon and cherry, more Jolly Rancher. Refreshing and balanced yet with a little complexity too. Good stuff. (8-4-7-3-16=3.8)
3.9 Bottle shared at the Leighton tasting 08/06/2017. Many thanks to Paul for this one. A clear red plum coloured pour with a fine loose pink head. Aroma is nice tart raspberry yogurt, plum, cranberry, powdery. Flavour is composed of tart plummy fruits raspeberry, mixed red berries, . Palate is tart, medium bodied, super dry, airy carbonation. Nice yogurt funky-ness.
3.7 Red fruits, strawberries, red cherries, acidic, lemon, lime. Hazy red, tiny head. Medium sour. More sour red fruits, lemon, zesty lime, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Nice Berliner Weisse, great aroma. Bottle shared at Leighton’s - thanks to Scopey.
3.8 341ml bottle (thx, Louis-Phillipe B.!). Bottled on 2015-07-??. Pours a reddish pale amber with a white head. Aroma is cherries and sour notes. Same taste. Very nice and refreshing.
3.6 Poured a light cherry red color with aromas if light cherry juice, spur wheat, tart hay, and some musk. Flavors aromas the same with tart cherry juice and light wheat, some feint musk, decent beeline with fruit.
4.1 Draught at the brewery. Pours a hazy pink-red, with a large light pink head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. The aroma has sour cherries and a little light wheat. Strong sour cherry up front leads into a little cleansing wheat in the mid-palate, with tart, sour cherries to finish it off. Super refreshing, and a very fun beer.
4.5 Pours a bright red with no head. Aroma of cherries and sour wheat. Taste is sour wheat, big cherry flavor, this is a sour cherry bomb. Absolutely amazing
3.9 Bottle. Light hazy red with a medium sized good lacing pink head with ok duration and regeneration. Cherries, yoghurt and raspberries in the nose. Flavour is bright with lots of raspberries and cherries. Some darker berries, very mild yoghurt and lemon. Soft carbonation and filling mouthfeel with some sweetness and pleasant sourness to match, although it gets slightly yoghurt lactic in the finish. Long finish with berries. Very enjoyable.
4.1 Deep pink color. Big big cherries in the nose with modest tartness. Big tartness with big marachinno Cherry notes. Tart and refreshing. Excellent lingering cherry in the finish. Outstanding.
4.5 Bottle thanks to oldp0rt! Pours beautiul bright vibrant red with a finger of fizzy pink foam. Nose is massive cherry, juicy berry fruit, soft acidity and light vinous notes. Taste is cherry bomb, juicy fruit, light pie spice, soft wet grain, medium-low acidity. Finishes with soft tartness, lingering cherry, balanced sweetness, some cereal grain. Heavenly.
3.8 Deep pink with a good white head. Aroma is cherry, strawberry, candy. Light-medium bodied, sweet on the palate with a subtle underlying tartness. Taste is cherry pie, cherry candy, fresh cherries. Yum
4.0 A wonderfully refreshing sour wheat beer with cherries. A big fruity punch from the fresh cherries and the high carbonation. A solid sour presence blends well with the fruit and a touch of acidity. Very clean finish. Not cloying at all thanks to a solid tartness. The liquidy body suits the style. Does Dieu du Ciel make a bad beer?
