3.3 Bottle 0.5 from local Alko. Originally rated 27122012. Colour is hazy orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, hops and malts.
3.7 Bottle, 17/05/13, BBE 08/12/14. Pours an auburn orange amber with a medium-sized, beige head. Aroma is very resinous, loaded with caramel. Some juniper and floweriness. Taste is very resinous again, quite dry, a bit thin body. Not much fruitiness. Some nettles, more floweriness, not that bitter. Quite full, not much carbonation.
3.5 pours muddy orange with a frothy off-white head, good retention and lacing. loads piney and citrusy hops, very yeasty and peppery, earthy, spicy and grainy malts, some bread crust and a hint of caramel. some sweetness though - tad too much. average carbonation, medium body - oily, medium long sweet and grapefruity-piney finish. boozy, very boozy. relatively complex and an enjoyable sipper..
3.9 Orange hazy beer with good head that leaves lace. Aroma is strong, sweet and piny hops. Taste has good sweet maltbase with bitter finish.
3.5 Copper/amber beer with a huge off white/beige head. Fruity sweet aroma. Medium/big body and round mouth feel. Some round but dull hops. Big hops but some how this loses its edge and tastes a bit bland in a bizarre way. Lots of caramel, a mix of grassy and grape fruity hops, some yeastiness. At first it has a little sweetness but ends with a dryness.
3.4 50 cl bottle. Originally rated on 20100427. Pours copper color with a medium head. Aroma of fruits, hops, caramel and some malty notes. Flavor of citrus fruits, hops, caramel malts and hay. Decent.
3.7 Pours hazy orange with a mediocre white head that does not last long. Aroma combines both sweet, caramel maltiness and piny hoppiness, rich and varied. In the taste it’s much the same, although sweet caramel maltiness features more than usually. Hops add bitterness in the finish. Flavours of caramel, fruits, pine, resin. Palate is quite full and sticky; carbonation low to average. Nice sweet, full-bodied DIPA with (only) moderate hoppiness.
3.2 50 cl bottle @ home. Pours cloudy golden amber with some sediment and an off-white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is caramel, grapefruit, and oranges. Flavour is much like the aroma – with a bitter finish.
3.8 Kaatuu lasiin punaruskeana ja kirkkaana vaahdon ollessa isohko ja tiiviis. Haju on keksinen, karamellinen, ruohoinen, sitruksinen, leipäisen maltainen ja kukkainen. Maku on karamellisen makea, keksinen, sitruunainen, ruohoisen maltainen, hieman pihkainen ja havuinen. Suutuntuma on täyteläinen ja hieman hiilihappoinen. Humala tuntuu yllättävän vähän tupla-IPAksi. Kokonaisuutena tämä on hyvin tasapainoinen jahelposti lähestuttävä DIPA.
(Rating #4351)
4.1 Bottle at home. Hazy copper color with medium white head. Wonderful aroma of hops, fruits, sweetness and little malts. Nice taste of hops and fruits. Some sweetness to balance hops.
3.3 I bought this beer because of the awesome label. Nice foam with an opaque orange appearance. Citrousy and malty scent. Very confusing first taste, somehow soft. Stronger hoppy and bitter after taste, not too bitter tough. Overall nice Ale, but price/taste ratio is not so good. It’s very expensive here in Finland.
3.5 2012.10.05 - bottle 50cl - hazy orange tanned beer, creamy coloured head. Aroma : caramel, malts, notes of citrus, spices. Mouth : malts, caramel, some sweetness that ends in moderate bitterness.
3.9 Aroma has toffee, some hoppiness. Inviting. Hazy honey, creamy big head. Taste is good and long, full body, sticky feel, finish dry and bitter. Good beer overall.
3.7 Thick, hazy liquid; orange/amber colour. Pours a thin white silky head. The aromas hint towards a very fruity, dry IPA; a fresh, slightly herby aromascape. The taste follows nicely with a tingly, honey sweetness and a mild and round bitter sourness. Everything seems to be linked and balanced accordingly. The palate is dry but moist, bringing out everything in a very balanced way. A full, balanced IPA with fruit and spices. Very enjoyable.
3.6 Bottle from Systembolaget Drottninggatan, shared with edvard june 30th 2012. Hazy golden body, fluffy white head. Aroma of pine, alcohol and grassy hops. Taste is malty, caramel, and english style hops. Dry mouthfeel.
3.6 Very dry, some grass and spruce, earthy too. Hoppiness not too overboard, reasonable bitter. Yet somehow harsh and not very balanced. Appreciate the homage to Darwin, not sure if he liked beer though.
2.7 In short: A messy and very yeasty dirty blonde semi-hoppy beer of some kind How: Bottle 500ml Consumed 3 months before expiration date The look: Cloudy blonde-orange body topped by a large off-white head leaving a moderate amount of lacings on the glass In long: Nose is sports locker, citrusy hops (apricots, grapefruits) and banana peels yeasty esters. Taste is also has a dirty component to it. Again, sports locker comes back to mind, some caramel, marmalade, banana puree, grapefruity bitterness, orange peels, Caesar salad dressing (I’m not kidding!), quite a bit of yeast (dirty mishandled yeast) and bread crumps. This beer is total chaos, but no an unpleasant chaos. An overall sensation of moldy/rotting bread. Sweetness level is a bit too high for the style and bitterness is far from assertive. So what we have left is some kind of yeasty half-bitter dirty amber ale. Drinkable, but not enjoyable. Nothing really memorable here, but I drank it anyway because sometimes I’m just so thirsty for a beer. The rest of the time I’m asleep.
4.3 Tap @ Green Lion Inn in Malmo, Sweden. Recommended by bartender. Pours a hazy golden hue. Like a hefe. Powerful earthy citrus nose. Some West Coast hop action mixing with some Old World hoppiness. Very nice nose. Great mouth feel. Heavy body, probably due to a hell of a grain bill, but with a lively crispness. Different from the American IPAs that are my go-to brews. Very interested in the yeast used for this beast. Very enjoyable Danish IPA. Highly recommended.
3.7 My rating got deleted by my mbile phone. Too lazy to type it out again. Short version: nice beer, not realle a double ipa because of some red feuit influences.
3.3 50cl bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear amber color, medium sized off-white head that leaves a nice lacing. Smell malts, fruits, lightly yeasty. Taste malts, overripe and dried fruits, medium bitter. Weird, nothing like any oher double IPA I know. Medium to full carbonation, medium body.
3.5 Draught @ CBF 2012 Pours hazy amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, dried fruits, floral and grassy hops. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long sweet malty, dried fruity, creamy finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.5 Bottle.... It pours deep hazy golden/orange with a small white fluffy head..... The aroma is caramel, fruits, melon.......The flavor is sweet, toasted malts, flowers and caramel.....
3.5 Pours hazy orange with a foamy head. Aroma is fruits, hops and malts. Some nuts, too. Flavor is fruity bitter. Some alcohol and hops. OK!
3.4 Draught @ Bishops Arms Örebro. Pours hazy golden with a very small white head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace on the glass. Smell is very sweet and malty with caramel, honey, sweet dark bread, golden syrup and hints of grass and orange zest. Taste is sweet and slightly bitter with caramel, honey, orange peal, grass, pine, sweet bread, overripe plums, mango and pineapple and hints of metal. Mouthfeel is round, sticky sweet and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with bread, honey, grass and orange peal. I remember pouring this down the drain the first time I tried it about a year ago. Found it incredibly sweet and not at all good. This time I wanted to give the beer another chance and was more prepared for the sweetness. It’s still not my kind of IIPA but it’s still a pretty good beer.
3.5 Bottle: Poured a deep golden/beige color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of bitter and pine hops is pleasant. Taste is a mix between hoppy notes with resin flavour and some dry caramel malt with a bit too much residual sugar for the style. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad overall but lacking some floral hoppy notes and somewhat too sweet for the style.
3.7 Amberish colour with big head. Aroima is british hops. Flavour is also not that hoppy. Decent IPA.
4.4 This is my favorite beer of all times. I’ve been drinking hundreds of bottles of this one in the past couple of years. :) Brownish-amber color, medium head, very hoppy and malty. The fruity bitterness and very long bitter aftertaste is really good. Full body and thick with a very long finish.
2.8 50 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. BB 29.05.12. App.: Clear deep golden with a decent yellowish-white foam. Aroma: Quite a lot of cereals and grains, cloying sweetness, quite fruity, oddly perfumed, maybe a little floral, sorta woodsy, I don’t really have a good lexicon for British hops and malts. Palate: Medium+ body, slick/syrupy, restrained effervescence. Flav.: Booze, lots of booze, cereals/grains, oddly sweet and perfumed, kinda like a malt liquor with a lot of British hops (to me), woodsy, thick, slightly cloying, really different; slightly hot alcohol, sweet and quite bitter, with a long, lingering, syrupy hop/malt finish. If given the opportunity again, I would not naturally select this.
3.5 My Bottom Line: Rich barley sugar grounds citrusy hops and their bitter resins for a frothy, raw, Barley Wine-like strong ale. Further Personal Perceptions: -There is ample foam atop the hazy orange, producing plenty of lacing. -Cereals are lightly caramelized. -The frothy natural carbonation sculpts a great mouthfeel for a sipper. -If you want a super hoppy Double IPA, this one’s going to be disappointing. -The flavors are extremely well defined, but the total package is still quite enjoyable. Bottle.
