Djævlebryg Pride Of Nekron

Djævlebryg Pride Of Nekron

Editor’s note: Previously brewed by Djævlebryg at Brøckhouse, Hillerød, Denmark.

English: This beer is worthy of the Dark Lord. In both smell and taste it is a true orgy of the senses: Burnt, bitter and sweet. Savory and warming, full bodied and complex. Pride of Nekron is simply put a majestic meal in itself.

4.1 Via trade with Douglas88. The aroma is licorice, roast, bitte chocolate. The appearance I deep black, tan head. Oily lacing on glass. The flavor is roast, licorice, bitter chocolate. The finish is rost, pine, long lasting, and astringent. Thick in body. Good. Palate better than flavor and aroma.
3.9 Bottle shared with JMD at HNB. Almost black. Dense and persisten brown head. Aroma of black malt, coffe, pine and yeast. Fine taste, with surprisingly good drinkability. Dry mouthfeel.
4.0 Svart med høyt brunt skum. Lukter kaffe, sjokolade. Mest kaffe preg.
Medium kullsyre.
2.4 Bottle from Plovmand, thanks! Big coffee, chocolate and roast, one of the most roasted beers I’ve had. Is there any coal among the ingredients? Oh, there isn’t. But there are syrups. Raisin syrup and black syrup. And oh boy, is this one syrupy. I like the raisin addition in the aroma that sways it in the direction of Baltic porters, but it fails to impress tastewise. It is just not integrated in any way. There you have the intense roast on one hand, it pierces your tongue mercilessly. And then you have that raisny, syrupy sweetness that just goes a separate way, failing to balance the whole. As a result, it is a horribly sweet, horribly roasted and artificially raisiny beer. Unfortunately.
4.0 27.12.2014. 0,33l Bottle. Vinmonopolet Haugesund. Black colour with dark brown head. Intense dark with aromas of dark malts, sweet coffee and cocoa. Mederate bitter, and that goes well to the sweetness from the malt. Very smooth, soft and plessant beer. The strength of the alcohol is so well hidden that I dont notice it. Veeeery good beer.
Vinmonopolet.
4.1 DWG; Bottle 33 cl. Best before Judgement Day. Batch PON002. Pours perfect black with a large, frothy to creamy, lasting and lacing tan head. Nosetrils fills with intense roasted malt, dark chocolate and tobacco, smoke, bread, licorice and dark dried fruit. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter with a sweet syrup, warming and lasting, licorice finish. Body is full, texture is sticky thick, carbonation is flat.
3.9 Coffee, cocoa, nuts, dried fruits and leather in the aroma. Almost black with a tan head. Medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body with a average to soft carbonation. Overall a really nice Imperial Stout with lots of flavour and some warming alcohol.
Bittersøt mørk sjokolade i ettersmaken. Tykk/medium konsistens.
3.8 Bottle from batch PON001. Pours like a RIS should, more like syrup than beer. Nice looking head, between latte and mocka, but head retention is short. Smells lovely, a lot of roasted and burnt flavors, coffe, chocolate, bread. Once you have a mouthfull, there’s more from where that came from, but also some vanilla and licorice. Sweet early that fades into a bitter finish. After a few mouths, the ABV is more apparent, but not in a bad way. Enjoyed it a lot. Wish I knew how long it has been aging, but with a best before judgement day it’s not easy to tell.
3.7 How: Draught. Where: SBWF 2014. Appearance: Black colour with a beige head. Aroma: Citrus, malt, chocolate. Body: Medium body and carbonation. Flavour: Hops, citrus, malt, chocolate.
3.5 Doft av tjära, lakrits, mörktbröd. Beige tjock och fin skumkrona. Mörk som natten. Tjock och rund i munnen. Söt med smak av alkohol, kaffe. Lämnar en viss beska. Väldigt mastig. Helt ok men du dricker bara en.
3.4 33cl bottle @El Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo. 19-01-2014. In short: a light creamy Imp. Stout. Pours very dark with nice tan head. Poor head retention, scattered lacing. Creamy, vanilla, roasty, chocolate aromas. Medium body, soft carbonation, silky texture. Taste is smooth, chocolate, some coffee, vanilla, roasted notes. Sweet lingering aftertaste.
3.8 Flaska. Stor kropp.
3.6 Bottle. Opaque black liquid with medium ran head. Aroma of chocolate, butter, pine, coffee, light licorice and light ash. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of chocolate, coffee and pine. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty good.
4.5 33 cl, flaske, 10,5 % ABV, købt i Kvickly Allerød, 31. juli 2014.
4.0 The aroma is of alcohol, dark malt and hints of coffee. Distinctive coffee taste and dark chocolate. A heavy bitterness that fills the mouth forever. A great Imperial Stout, but feels like it’s missing something just to reach perfection. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
2.6 Flaska från SB. Smörklick är det första jag känner. Därefter framträder tobak och gummifabrik. Lite för söt smak. Besvikelse.
3.5 Pours like any other imperial stout, a bit longer lasting head. Nose is superb! Burnt sugar, chocolate, roasted malt, raw liquorice and raisins. Taste is mostly bitter but some roasted notes aswell. Body could be thicker with more sweetness. Not complex but very nice indeed.
3.9 Bottled Eye: Black with a large, sinking head. Nose: Coffee, dark chocolate, anise. Mouth: Rich, smooth and warming. Tongue: Roasted malt, coffee, sweet licorice, some smoke, warming alkohol. Brain: Smooth and balanced. Enjoyed it!
4.0 Black with tan head. Aroma has roasted malt, licorice and coffee. Flavour is similar with the licorice dominating along with alcohol and brown sugar. Thick mouthfeel, long bitter finish.
3.8 Nose is decent licorice, some leather, damp clothes, weak rotten fruit, feel is mediumbroad, taste is fat mediumsweet licorice, heavily roasted malt, tar, late mellow alcohol note
3.7 Bottle. Pours black with a dense tan head. Aroma is smoked meat, chocolate, coffee. Taste is medium sweet, light burnt bitterness, smokey. FInish is medium dry roasted bitterness with a rounded smoked sweet finish. Medium bodied, average carbonation.
