Dogfish Head Beer To Drink Music To '16

Dogfish Head Beer To Drink Music To '16

Music has been a part of Dogfish Head since before Dogfish Head. So it’s a natural fit for a brewery that makes ‘Analog Beer for the Digital Age’ to be the Official Beer of Record Store Day, a celebration of the unique culture of record stores and the special role they play in their communities.

Of course, as the Official Beer of Record Store Day, we had to create a special brew for the occasion! Insert Beer To Drink Music To. This Belgian-style Tripel is brewed with sweet orange peel, green cardamom, peppercorns and vanilla. It’s the perfect marriage of beer and music and best when paired with some of your favorite tunes.

Clocking in at 9% ABV, Beer To Drink Music To is a golden orange brew with forward notes of toffee, cardamom, cloves and subtle notes of vanilla.

3.4 Clear orange, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is heavily spiced with notes of orange, pepper, Belgian yeast, sugar, alcohol. Medium bodied, moderate alcohol, spiced flavors dominate with a peppery finish. Comes off as *extremely* American style, but it’s well made for what it’s trying to be.
3.5 The 9% abv blends well in this beer. Golden orange brew with forward notes of toffee, cardamom, cloves and subtle notes of vanilla. No music played during consumption.
3.4 12oz bottle that I don’t remember buying. Another rot box beer that I have no idea how long it’s been in there. Pours orange in color with tons of sediment and a small foamy white head. Aroma and taste of ripe banana, sweet grains, dough, clove, grass, and strong Belgian yeast.
4.1 12oz. bottle: This one pours a clear orangish golden color. There was just a wisp of a white head on it. The nose is good. Clove, coriander, peppery spices, maybe some orange. The taste is very good. The coriander and peppery spices are up front but not overdone. Some vanilla and banana flavors also. Good body. A very nice tripel!
3.3 12 oz bottle shared by csbosox. The pour is a clear golden with a smallish white head. The aroma is sweet apple fruit, and full Tripel yeast nose. The taste is initially boozy, the sweet apple fruit and the Tripel yeast which lingers some in the finish, integrating with the warming booze. The palate is medium bodied, slick oily mouthfeel and the hot sweet yeast finish. Not really my thing. Thanks for sharing this one Chris.
4.0 12 oz. bottle. Poured into a Trappist glass. Pours sunset orange/yellow with a 1/2" bubbly white head. Head recedes quickly, leaving no lace. Sweet smelling Belgian yeast with apricot fruit and a whiff of alcohol. Beer is sweet, as it should be. More Belgian yeast, some candied fruit and light honey. Full bodied and warming. Nice!!
3.9 Clear deep amber. Small soapy head. The vanilla and citrus compliments nicely. Fruity and spicy character is moderate. Some nice complexity for the malts. Sweet but held in check. Alcohol hidden well but felt just like you want.
4.1 Fairly sweet, Brown sugary, strong but not too much. Beautiful burnt orange color.
3.8 bottle. Golden with one finger head. Moderate sweetness. Light bubblegum esters along with vanilla. Mild boozy hit. Pretty solid tripel.
3.5 Draft to taster at cappy’s pour avg gold with thin white head. Nose Belgian sugar, cantaloupe or sweet fruit, honeydew, light spice but not clove, more cardamom. Taste reasonable spice early, then moderate bitter. Mid palate mix of bitter and sweet. Light bitter finish.
3.6 Bottle, Ann Arbor, MI. Amber gold. Strong spice aroma, cardamom and honey. Sweet alcohol and a long spice finish.
3.1 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a very small sized head of foamy white colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a transparent light golden orange colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was musty and mild hop. The sharp crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a bitter hoppy aftertaste. The sharp flavor contained notes of breads and hops. An OK brew just nothing special.
3.5 So nothing much stands out about this beer except that at 9% ABV it's outstandingly drinkable. A solid tripel with rich mouthfeel and high effervescence. Lots of flavor, not at all boring.
3.8 Clear gold to light amber pour. Medium white head, good retention, spiders Web of lace. Big yeast aroma, banana spice clove, light malt aroma. Taste is all spice, dry crisp finish. Medium body and carb. Spicy for a triple but good.
3.7 Poured a clear deep golden color with a small white head that faded quickly. Great aroma with orange, caramel, dough, and some pepper. Taste is crisp with lots of pepper and clove. Finish is smooth and creamy with oranges and lots of peppercorn. Would have been better if the finish was a little bit more crisp and less creamy. Overall very good!
3.5 Pours deep murky gills with a dinner white head. The aroma has rich caramel malt, smooth Abbey yeast, banana and is quite rich. It has a thick rich body with soft carbonation. The taste is like the aroma with some marshmallow and alcohol added to the mix. Pretty good.
3.4 Bottle. amber with a pale beige head that fades to less than a coat quite quickly. 3- Aroma has lots of cardamon, hay and dough, oranges, some pepper. Dunno whether a tripel needs actual cardamon added, but I like the stuff. so. Fairly full bodied, carbonation not that high for a tripel. Sweet with hay, dough, candied oranges and yes, lots of cardomon. So much so it seems like ginger at times. Extra pepper and vanilla not obvious. Neither is booze. Cheery.
3.6 Single from total wine. Sticky sweet banana and wheat. Yeast is mild so one of the more tame triples I have had in a while.
3.4 Bottle. Pours golden with a thin white head. Aroma of yeast, citrus, vanilla, orange peel and light spices. Flavor of caramel, vanilla, cardamon, orange, peppercorn, light citrus and some subtle banana.
4.2 12 oz bottle. Lovely Belgian aroma with lots of clove, banana, pepper, lemon, earth. Pours slightly hazy new penny copper with a medium cream-colored head with decent retention. Taste is spicy with all aroma descriptors, along with the vanilla; it’s a tad boozy, but not too detrimental. Body is a little thin for style. A nice tripel; best Dogfish beer I’ve had in awhile.
3.6 12 July 2016, bottle. gold, clear, steady bubbles. nose is boozy and wet bread dough. med body and moderately fizzy. sweet, boozy, belgian strong ale yeast, some dark toasted or even light chocolate notes. decent.
3.6 Approximately 8 oz. from a 12 oz. bottle, consumed on 7-5-16. Pours a clear, bright bronze to amber with moderate effervescence. Small to moderate amount of short-lasting, taupe head. The head is a shade typically associated with a darker beer than this one. Looks pretty cool. Juicy aroma of a Belgian Golden Ale. Slightly smoky smell, surprisingly. Nice, hearty taste. Yellow plum. Notably spicy. Dry and a bit boozy above a sweet, malty base. The smokiness from the aroma continues into the flavor. Some alcohol heat in the palate. Medium to full body. Frothy in the palate. Ordinary palate effects. Overall, a likeable beer. Not special but pretty good.
3.7 bottle given by a friend. Very awesome tripel - the spice (peppercorn) added such a unique flavor. very good
3.4 Dull golden clear pour. The cardamom and clove really shine here and help to spice up what is typically an overly sweet and bland style for my personal taste. Large carbonic bite. Not exactly amazing, but far from bad.
3.3 Bottle from Beer and Wine. Dark amber body with healthy head. Nose is peppery, malty, floral of oranges. Taste is similar of oranges, toffee, spices, cloves for sure. Very creamy. Herbal kick in the finish.
3.7 Overripe apple and pear. Cloudy copper, fine floaties, medium head. Clove, peach, pear. Full body, easy carbonation. Not a style I normally like, but this had nice spice notes to make it interesting.
3.7 A hazy but bright orange pour. No head. Aroma is yeast, classically Belgian. Body is sweet, medium, slick. The flavor disappears quickly. Wet finish. Orange, cloves, with some alcohol.
3.5 Draft pour. The beer is a clear copper with a white head of foam. Aroma has spice, wet dough, cinnamon, and peppercorns. Taste is subtly sweet and has some bitter nuances as well. Dry, earthy finish. I get a bit of orange zest. Subtle alcohol burn in the back of the throat. Decent, but the spices are overdone and distracting. Big body, moderate carbonation, prickly mouthfeel.
3.4 bottle to snifter that pours a medium orange amber color, oily lacing which quickly dissipates and a quick disappearing white head. initial aroma once I let it warm up some is pepper, vanilla and orange with Belgian yeast. the flavor held true but there is something about this one which I don’t like. I cant put my finger on it...just something in that flavor or blend of flavors that my taste buds just don’t care for. its not a drain pour just not for me.
3.8 Pours a mostly clear medium orange golden color with white head. Spices, citrus, vanilla, bread, and some cereal on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with toffee flavored sweetness and spice.
