3.8 Syrupy orange pour with a tall head. Fruity and fusel alcohol aroma with light caramel malt. Fire nose. Thick body. Very raspberry syrup from beginning to end. The fiery booze is surprisingly well hidden but the fruit. The heat of the booze shows itself by the burning sensation on the tongue much like a shot of something. I was a bit worried about this initially, and it’s gonna put me on my two-pack for sure, but it’s surprisingly "easy" for the abv.
3.6 Holy alcohol batman. Agree with some others that fruit flavors finesse gets lost in the boozing. Smells good. After taste is a bit harsh. But after buzz makes it all better.
3.9 On tap 7/13/16. Pours a deep ruby amber with a lasting white head. Nose is red licorice and nail polish and plenty booze. Taste is the same but follows the red licorice line. Hot, fruity, nice.
3.9 July 4, 2016 - bottle shared at end of night at start of fireworks show. Not much head if any and not quite sure on exact color as this was poured into a red solo cup. Aroma and taste of raspberries, sweetness and alcohol.
3.7 bottle from 2008 shared poured a darkish reddish brown color with no head. was hoping it was still good and I wasn’t disappointed. nice boozy raspberry nose. medium body and the flavor was a nice raspberry with still lots of booze. really mellow and easy to drink. just happy it survived this long.
3.3 (bottle) clear, bright reddish orange colour with a medium tall white head; aroma of raspberry juice, candy; balanced, muted flavour, well hidden alcohol considering the ABV
3.5 Aroma is raspberries and a really strong alcohol/whatnot. The flavor is raspberries, mild sweetness, malts and a slightly sour/increasingly alcoholic finish.
2.8 On tap @ HO1K beers. Pours a dark amber with a white head of foam. Aroma of tart cherry and other fruits. Taste is semi-sweet and tart fruity flavors with a warm alcohol finish. Somewhat medicinal and the alcohol overpowers the fruit flavors. Not as good as I had hoped for.
3.6 Draft at HOTB. Raspberries and malt backbone with a strong warming alcohol sensation. Smooth for such a strong beer. Pretty. Good. Will knock u on your arse.
3.8 Pours a dark mahogany brown with fluffy tan head. Aromas of raspberry, chocolate, and a touch of barrel funk. Flavors of raspberry, malts and finishes boozy.
3.8 right red color; fruity aroma; tart raspberry flavor with a nice alcoholic kick
3.9 Pours a ruby/brown with a fair off white head. Fruity aroma, berries mostly. Sweet, tongue coating roasted malt, berries, slight tartness, smokey and boozy, yet smooth and well balanced. A very good sipper.
3.7 Clear pinkish Amber with an off-white head. Aroma of raspberries, vanilla, and grain. Taste is sweet, boozy, and full of raspberry. Medium-full bodied, boozy.
3.8 On tap at brewery. Usually I expect this kind of wallop from an Imperial Stout or a barleywine. This one come from a jar of jelly, at least that’s what it smells like. Silky pour, aroma of berries, taste comes on full fruit with associated alcohol burn. Really strong, but tasty. It will just take a while to get through....
4.2 Smell is super nice raspberry. Taste is like an amber with sweet raspberry syrup. Hides the ABV incredibly well. Medium to full body, low carbonation, and no foam.
3.3 Poured from bottle into snifter. Pours a clear copper with thin rapidly fading white head. Aroma - lots of raspberry as expected, but there is some vanilla and alcohol on the nose as well. Taste is pretty hot - could definitely have let this cellar. Raspberry notes prevalent as well, but this tastes like a barleywine without any real hop character then raspberries thrown in. It is certainly not bad, but given its price, I wouldn’t buy again.
3.7 Amber color. Weak , one finger head. Aroma of raspberries and malt . Sweet, raspberry taste , with hint of tartness . Not over sweetened . Warming alcohol in finish . Surprisingly easy to drink as for the beer with 18% ABV . Sweetness is not nauseous and alcohol is hidden very well.
3.8 On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served showing a slightly hazed, copper color, with a presentable layer of off white/light tan head foam, and doily-like cling to the ribbons of lacing. The nose was expressive fruitiness of raspberry puree, tartness, and a promise of substantial alcohol to come. Medium+ bodied, the taste projected the fruit with more of a sweet, candy-like nature, sticky & syrupy texture, strong but not hot booziness, and a moderate astringency & tartness that combined nicely with some lively carbonation. Although not a big Fruit Beer fan, this didn’t get tedious to me, and I appreciated the freshness of the fruit along with the unusually strong alcohol kick.
3.9 Hazy Amber thick bubbly beige head; aroma is sweet raspberry fruit; flava is rich fruity raspberry with soft tart finish; feels medium nice foamy feel; finishes tart and grainy and boozy
3.6 Smell is medicinal. Taste is a touch on the strong side, but bearably so. Tried it on draft in 5oz pour and I'm not mad about it. For beer heads only. - pixels sent via Beer Buddy on iOS
3.2 Pours an almost reddish yellow with specks and a very thin head. Aroma is raspberry. Flavor is raspberry. Body is very thick and syrupy. It’s amazing a beer this strong hides the alcohol so well. This is good, but not something that stays good for a whole beer, or even half a beer. Gets almost cough syrup-like as it warms up. Nonetheless, pretty impressive.
3.4 Bottle from Beer and Wine. Nice light amber body with puffy white head. Nose is floral of berries and of burned sugar. Taste is fruity of raspberries of course and even slightly chocolate with a serious kick of alcohol. Pretty enjoyable stuff.
4.3 Sweet.... Does not taste boozy! Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
3.4 Innovative and pretty daunting. Lots of raspberry aroma and flavor, but with a ton of malt and alcohol thrown in. Something to be tried, but I’d recommend splitting the bottle.
3.5 Poured a slightly reddish color with no head. Aroma had lots of raspberries, cherry, and booze. Very sweet too. Taste is thick and syrupy with a good amount of booze and fruit. More raspberry flavor with a slight alcohol stinging on the way down. Overall it is definitely interesting, but a little hard to drink after a while.
3.1 On tap at funks. Very sweet with raspberry tartness and a hard bite in the finish. Doesn't linger. Strong.
1.8 Aroma of raspberries which is promising, taste is awful. Where to begin. Raspberries and then a punch of yeast then alcohol. Lots of alcohol. May be the strongest fruit beer- beware; not good.
4.3 Bottle. Nice Secret Santa present from work! Nice red color with fluffy white head. Smells like raspberry candy. Taste is raspberries with a viscous mouthfeel, beautifully balanced between tart and sweet - although a lot of people will probably want this to be more tart than it is. Alcohol extremely well hidden, I would have popped a second bottle not question if I had one - and if I had not known the ABV. I’m wishing I had more of these at home so clearly I enjoyed it, although it’s certainly not a very complex beer.
3.1 Draft to taster. Looks solid; a very cloudy caramel with off-white head that steadily dissipates into thin lacing. Smells more like heavy peach syrup than raspberries; there’s some in there on the back end though. Tastes more raspberry-ish, but sticky and boozy. Mouthfeel is full-bodied and pretty hot. Definitely warms your stomach. No balance, but I guess that’s the point with this one.
3.8 Red tinted dark amber-brown. Big khaki head. Little lacing. Big raspberry nose. Slight alcohol. Taste is a sweet warm fruity berry.
