3.5Draft 2/5/15 (Whole Foods-Lamar)-Pours amber with a small head. Aroma of berries, malt, dried fruits, and sweetness. Taste of the same. This medium bodied brew was not bad but was not sure what to expect either.
3.8Nice Amber body with tab head. Aroma of barn yard and taste of bitter cranberry, malt and a hint of sweetness.
3.2bottle. really funky ale. Interesting flavors - best share with others. Didn’t hate it
3.8Bottle. Fruit & Berry aroma. Dark amber body with thin head. Taste starts of immediately tart, with notes of cranberry and lingonberries. Slight hints of syrup followed by a malty finish.
3.1Pours a reddish brown from a bottle. Aroma of lingonberries (thanks IKEA) and cranberries. Flavor similar, becoming somewhat medicinally bitter, almost like a hint of Campari after the initial fruitiness. Very dry. Good beer.
3.2Flaska köpt av Funky i NYC. Orangebrun kulör med vitt gräddigt skum. Doft av pepparkaka, kanel och söta bär. I smak känns först och främst söta lingon och kryddor. Ganska söt men speciell och rolig
3.6Flaska från nyc. Rödbrun med vitt skum. Luktar pepparkaka med lite frukt. Smakar lingon och pepparkaka med örtig eftersmak.
3.5Draft at their Gaithersburg, MD Alehouse served in a snifter glass; cloudy almost-pink’ish amber color with off-white head. Aroma notes of big malty fruits, berries(heavy cranberry), some herbs and heavy malt sweetness. Taste is less sweet than aroma, more berry tartness, fruits, white sugar and bread. Heavy body, low carbonation, soft, creamy with light herbal finish. Interesting heavy tart beer, not a daily drinker but something to have once in awhile.
2.7Slightly pink amberish pour, slight white head. Lots of cranberry in the start of the taste, finishing like putting a dry tea bag in your mouth.
3.7I liked the tart berry taste of this beer. Interesting sweetness on the tongue and a good alcohol warmth.
3.6Cloudy amber caramel colored with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of pineapple, berries, pear, syrup, and caramel. Taste is tart yet lightly malty syrupy sweet. medium bodied, slick, slightly boozy, average carbonation.
3.2Draft at ebp. Pours a murky dark amber with a dense and creamy thin tan head that settles gradually. Tangy tart sweet nose, showing clear lingonberry note. Creamy thickish body with soft carb. Big lingonberry attack, like the jam but without the sugar, very clear flavor--no malt or yeast stepping on it. Then the flavor flattens completely into a closed out finish.
3.5Pours a clear amber with a red hue. Poor head volume, lacing and retention.
Light nose of fruit (cranberry mostly) over a sweet background.
Medium body with a smooth texture. Normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a fair burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is rather good, but unique. It begins with a semi sweet background that fruit flavors ride above. Cranberry is predominate, but subtle hints of other tart berries. As the tartness fades, a sweeter note is evident with a herbal hop aspect. The finish is where alcohol is most evident and slowly fades with a tart background.
3.8Hazy , copper/ brown color . Thin, off-white head. Aroma of berries , malt , hint of herbs. Gentle tartness in semi-dry taste with light bitterness in the end. High ABV isn't very noticeable. Another great, fruity experiment from Dogfish Head.
3.7Had on draft at Tap & Handle. Firm tart aroma, fruity esters, apple & pear. This is a great tart fruity beer.
3.4Draught @ Dogfish Head Brewing & Eats, Rehoboth Beach, DE
Pours hazy orange with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, dried fruits and alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long warm, dried fruity and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.4On tap at the brewpub. An unclear dark orange coloured beer with a small, off-white colored head. The aroma is sweetish, resiny and quite fruity, with alcohol and a faint herbal touch. It’s full bodied, warming and soft on the palate, with some alcohol flavors. Bready malts, fruityness and some sugar in the flavor, a nice herbal bitterness too. Lasting sweet, herbal finish. Well, decent indeed, but not my kind of beer. 150621
3.6Bier Abby, Schenectady, NY
APPEARANCE - vibrant burnt amber color, very clear.
NOSE - Light undistinguishable fruity notes. Hint of the 10.0% ABV.
FLAVOR ? Extremely light flavor. Almost tastes like a super light barleywine. But that could be the alcohol in it accompanied by quite a bit of lighter flavored fruits. Complete lack of hops.
NOTES - Definitely another interesting recreation from DFH. I thoroughly enjoy it, and think it would be a great session drinker if not for 10% ABV.
3.6Poured from a large bottle, gift from my neighbor. Appearance is a copper color and a cloudy consistency. Aroma is fruity (hello cranberries), honey, and malt. Taste is cranberries, syrupy, honey, herbs and malt. Palate is good amount of carbonation. Light-bodied. Pretty damn good, but for special occasions or the right food.
3.7Bottle from Total Wine. Over a year of aging. Pours a reddish brown with a fluffy head. Aroma is tart cranberry, ligonberry, spices, and cherries. The taste is similar with cranberries, spices, and tart cherries. Medium mouth, delicate tart finish. Moderate carbonation.
3.5Reddish orange color with a foamy ivory head. Berry nose with a bit of tart cranberry. This is a berry forward beer with identifiable cranberry juice taste and something that I will assume is a lingonberry. Honey and white sugar sweetness with a bit of a tart pinch in the finish. Pretty tasty.
3.4Pours a clear rust orange. Has a strong sweet aroma of fruit juice with spices and alcohol. Has a strong sweet fruit juice and grape taste with spices.
3.4Sloe, concord grape. Cloudy copper, thin head. Vinous apricot, cranberries, grapes.Medium body, soft carbonation, warm. Surprisingly not a lot of nuance. Weird and very grapey, not bad.
3.7A semi-transparent brownish-amber color with minimal head. A fruity (cranberry? cherry?) aroma. VERY fruity flavor, kind of lambic like. A nice aftertaste.
3.4Strange, as one would expect from something pulled out of a chemical sample of a clay pot from a few millennia back. Exotic berry aromas are big here, and honey and syrup add a viscous sweet and tangy element. Pours dark amber with decent head and lacing. Tangy finish. Tap at Right proper.
3.0Smells slightly sweet and berry like with some spices. The taste is dominated by the berries, very tart but not in the way a wild ale is, as it warms it sweetens considerably. Overall it’s a good beer, cool concept but not something I would drink all the time
3.7Tap. Deep golden with minimal head. Strong berry notes. Lightly tart with a nice herbal undertone. Quite unique. No booze at all.Amazing for the abv.
2.9Light opaque amber, small foem. Light sour fruity aroma, same for taste. Light sour, fruity notes. (Houston 201501)
3.7From a capped 750 ml bottle purchased at the North Coast Coop in Eureka, CA. Pours a reddish copper with a beige head. Good lacing. Nose is a melange of fruit aroma with berries, herbs and birch. Medium body. Flavor moves from berry into birch as it warms. Other flavors here adds complexity. Really interesting and unique brew. Quite good.
3.0(bottle - 750 ml) range pour with a puffy white head. Herbal and slightly sweet berry aroma. Interesting to say the least. Flavor is the same way. Herbs and a lot of interesting tart berry flavors. Some light bitterness at the end. Eh.
