2.9 Bottle from Beckley’s Country Store. Pours apricot with very little head. Slight fruitiness on the nose. Has a bit of a grape like vibe on the tongue. Not getting much Belgian Ale type action. Finishes clean. Not my favorite DFH.
3.6 750ml shared at Madison tasting. Hazy golden tan body. Thin, oliy, steady off-white head. Smooth and refined, but a little overpriced to say the least..this beer should have been in sixpacks. Enjoyable enough, mellow currant tones, smooth golden malt. Some mild honey in the finish. Not quite World Class, but enjoyable.
3.6 Clear light golden with a small pale head. Aroma is peach blossom, blackcurrant, heather honey. Light bodied, sweet on the palate with a lingering fruity aftertaste. Flavour is blackcurrant, peach, heather honey, hint of apricot. Can’t stand the band but quite enjoyed the ale.
3.2 Bottle, about a year and half old. Murky amber beer with a small head. Aroma is super malty, sweet, raisiny. Taste is medium sweet with some nice fruitiness. Finish is lightly sweet. Medium bodied, soft-moderate carbonation. I don’t know what it’s like fresh, but this was actually not bad.
3.2 750ml bottle. Pours a copper/gold color with a fingers worth of white head. Aroma of fruit notes (currants/berries), and some yeast. Taste is fruit up front, some toasty malt, crisp finish with a slight bitter aftertaste.
3.0 Beige head reveals notes of Belgian yeast and sweet currants. Taste is blasé with nothing being dominant or amazing. If I was pearl jam I’d ask th to call it something different because their music is 100 times better than this beer.
2.6 This had to be one of the biggest disappointments. Bitter astringency with some Belgian yeast flavors and maybe a dollop of malt sweetness coming through with a closing bite of rubbing alcohol
3.1 1 PT. 9.4 FL OZ. Poured clear gold with a mild white head, some lacing. Aroma of fruit, yeast and some alcohol. Flavor start sweet, similar to wine, some fruits balanced with some malts and spices. Dry finish, tasty beverage.
2.5 Mild aroma and basic appearance with a balanced taste and fruit aftertaste.
2.2 ...got it for 5$ at an end of the world party. Glad I didn’t buy it. Slightly fruity aroma, but no flavor. Tasted like a weak Belgian with a dry finish.:
3.2 750ml->flute. Bright gold, foamy white head, fairly effervescent. Aroma: dough, fruit, yeast, spices. Taste: bread, fruit, funk. Interesting.
3.0 [4783-20120916] 1pt9.4floz. Odd fruity yeast and gingerale white wine aroma. Hazy, light orange brown body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Grainy bitter fruit pip flavour. Medium body. Average. (6/3/6/3/12) 3.0 (w/ jercraigs)
4.2 25.4 oz. Bottle purchased in 2011 from Chuck’s 85th Street Hop Shop, Ballard, Seattle, Washington for $15.99. "Ale Brewed With Currants--20 IBU’s". Lacy lasting quarter inch bright white head. Clear pretty bright yellow gold color. Light Belgian yeast aroma with hints of Currants and mild hop notes. Tight sediment hazes brew slightly. Clean mild sweet fruit lick black currant Belgian Golden Ale body. Very nice medium texture. Clean mellow sweet smooth Belgian end. Very smooth and tasty. Aged nicely. (4.25 / 5.0).
3.1 Serving: 750 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a clear gold color with a large white head. The nose has a bit of grain and berry to it. The flavor reminds me of a grainy blonde ale with a slight currant and berry undertone. Not particularly remarkable. Light in body with higher carbonation. I don’t get the Belgian influence or much from the currants.
3.3 Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Aroma was fruity, bready, and yeasty. Flavor was very fruity with pale malts, bread yeast, citrus and grains.
3.0 Pours a clean orange color with a modest white, creamy head to top it off. Nose has a fruity orange citrus with some light grape with a light, clean Belgian yeasty ester kick and some light sweet malt tones. Flavor starts off with a sweet white wine kick with a light acidic kick and some very, very light peppery spice notes. Body is light with a slight oily feeling. Overall its kinda bland. The nose was okay but the flavor fell a bit flat as it died pretty quickly after the initial kick. A meh beer in my opinion as I expected a little more from a special beer put out by DFH.
3.2 It poured a clear amber color with a white head. The aroma was of moderate fruit with yeast and soft hops. It had a medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. The taste was medium sweet fruit with a nice sweet finish of moderate duration. A refreshing fruit beer.
3.0 nice golden hue, smells like a blonde or other weak pale beer. good tase, medium flavor, sticks around. expensive, not worth the cost by far.
3.6 Bomber. Gold with white head. Aroma is sweet hay/straw and dark fruit. Favor is the same with a strong dark fruit / currant finish. Interesting and worth a try, but not something I’d regularly seek.
3.4 750mL bottle. Split with my wife on 10-24-12 A: Clear gold with a fading white head. No legs. N: Fruity and sweet. Currants and plenty of pilsner type malt. Some floral elements. White grape and green apple. T: Very pilsner like again, but that’s not what I’d expect from a Belgian golden. Yeasty. The currents and grape are somewhat distant. Biscuity. Really, this doesn’t have enough of the fruit evident in the nose. M: Very light, but very sharply carbonated. Alcohol is well-hidden. O: It’s decent and worth a try if you have someone to split it with, but it would have benefited from more body and more currant.
2.8 I like pearl jam and I hate their beer. This is a weird macro tasting beer that should be called MGD Grape. Not good.
2.7 This tastes like Chardonnay in a box and budweisers. Fuck you everyone that made this
3.2 Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy yellow with a small off white head. The aroma is a strong fruity malt and yeast. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet fruit flavor and grain with a sweet finish. A good fruit beer from Dogfish Head.
3.2 2012-09-16. Crisp dark yellow body, nice white head and lace. 3+ Sweet pale malt aroma, lightly fruity, sweet floral notes, biscuity malt. 6+ Flavor is similar, sweet pale malt, with fruit and bready malt character, very lightly tart in the finish. Very smooth medium bodied palate. 3+ Okay, a bit dull, bit grainy as it warms. The alcohol is fairly restrained. Just okay, I much preferred the album. Bottle has a few months in the cellar, Trade with josefiak We’re faithful, we all believe, we all believe
3.1 Bottle from Secret Santa. Blonde with a purple haze. Blackcurrant in the aroma. Malty sweetish, just a bit alcoholic and perfumed flavor with blackcurrant notes Sweetish, a bit sticky. Pearl Jam deserves a better tribute.
3.4 glassware: Infinium flute....occasion: the deck is officially framed...appearance: bubbly white head that rises on a hazy gold body...aroma: fruit-fortified--the currants are sour and stronger than some reviewers have stated; not a turn-on or a turn-off, but abrupt...palate: light and spritzy--not as strong as Pearl Jam’s early or late catalogue--and easily drinkable (a.k.a. little character--decidely not Eddie Vedder!)...taste: slightly pungeant, sour fruit flavors....overall: like Pearl Jam’s better songs, the subtle power (alcohol) of this beer is best served in an easily drinkable package...
3.3 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty berry black currant aroma. Fruity malty berry flavor with hints of caramel. Has a fruity malty slightly berry black currant finish with some bitterhints.
3.6 750ml bottle picked up at the brewery in Milton, DE. Pours a lightly hazed golden colored body with a finger-width, creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is nice and subtle with a lightly sweetened, grainy, bready malt backing with a slight toastiness and wheat. Light currant berry notes throughout with some mild fruity esters, a light grass, and passion fruit. Flavor is similar. Light toastiness to the grainy, lightly sweetened bready malts up front before some black currants, tropical fruit florals, and fruity esters come in subtly. Finishes very smooth and fairly dry with a light grassy bitterness, bready malt sweetness, and a bit of a black currant berry. Light alcohol note before leaving a fairly lengthy aftertaste. Smooth, medium body and a very soft, somewhat creamy, moderate carbonation. Overall, a really nice drinking Belgian golden ale with a light fruity essence. Subtle flavors, but very well balanced throughout. I would have liked the currants to be a little more forward, but nonetheless, I was a fan of this one. Good beer.
4.3 Strong currant aroma. This beer reminds me a lot of Midas Touch. Head is short lived and clarity could be improved upon. Very sweet taste that lingers on the tongue for quite some time.
3.2 pours a clear yellow-orange with a small white head that dissipates rapidly, and a little lacing. smell is lagerish, straw, bit of berry, and floral. taste is refreshing, grainy, hay, some berry, some malt, and a few hops, ends crisp.
