3.3 Bottle. Pours clear amber with largish foamy off-white head, orange peel aroma, medium carbonation, bitter orange peel taste with underlying alcohol, thin body, medium bitter finish. Decent, not outstanding. Earlier Rating: 12/31/2016 Total Score: 3.4 Bottle. Clear amber with largish foamy off white head, orange peel aroma, medium carbonation, bitter orange peel taste with underlying alcohol, thin body, medium bitter finish. Not bad not too good either
3.3 Bottle from a 12 pack, named the "Pinup Pack". Bottled on 9-14-16. Golden amber-ish color with much head to speak of. Aroma has sweet fruits, sweet caramel, tangy pine and floral notes. Taste is backed by plenty of sweet caramel malts leading into floral and some abrasiveness from pine. Medium to full bodied with a sticky texture over the tongue. Some alcohol presence. Finishes solidly bitter. Bitter in the sense of higher IBU’s without a welcoming hop flavor. Still drinkable but I got to say I like the two other styles in the mixed 12 pack much more than this one.
3.6 Bottle at Carsten. Clear yellow with a small white head, nice lacings. Aroma medium+ malty (caramel) and hoppy (tropical fruits, peach, piney). Flavor medium sweet, heavy bitter, long lasting, almost astringent. Medium+ body, sirupy.
4.0 Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a murky amber color with a thin white head. The aroma is full of citrus and caramel. The taste is a bitter citrus driven IPA . A nice beer.
3.3 12oz bottle from my mom’s basement. No, I don’t live there. I’m not that much of a bum. Hazy orange golden with a small white head and some lacing. The aroma is tangerine, peach, honey, and caramel. Flavor is malty, east coast style, but not without a considerable hop punch. Citrusy, medium sweet. Medium-plus body with average carbonation. Decent.
4.0 Clear amber color with stable white head. Aroma of hops, caramel and citrus. Taste is sweet at first turning into a bitter finish. Also notes of a bit alcohol, but in a good way. Perfect balance. Just a perfect IPA!
3.3 Bottle. Moderat malty aroma of caramel and Heavy hoppy aroma of pine, resin, grapefruit, orange-peel and herbs. The flavours starts sweet but finish very bitter with long duration. The body is medium and the texture is oily. Soft carbonation.
3.4 Pours a golden/amber color with a thick and creamy white head...nice lacing and retention. Aroma has light fruity tea notes...some citrus...pineapple...a mild herbal note. Flavor is less delicate than the aroma...earthy bitterness, resinous...bready/caramely malts...still some tea notes but citrus has fallen off. Mouthfeel is medium and a bit oily with a dry earthy/resinous bitter finish
3.8 clear, amber color; citrusy, floral hop aroma; citrusy hop flavor with some tropical fruit notes; bitter and crisp; light, bready malt base; lots of bitter hops; quite drinkable for such a high gravity beer
3.2 Pours dark orange with medium head. Aroma is dominated by malt and pine. Taste: a lot of malt, some pine. OK, but no killer DIPA.
3.3 To be fair, I'm a sucker for classic pinup girls, so I'm already bias to this. In seriousness, this is a pretty decent double. It has a burn to it that gets hit with the bitter bite and then fades comfortable, somewhat for an extended period of time, bitterness. I should also note that I noticed that these bottles have a best by date of 12-23-2015 and it's currently 2-5-2016. Doesn't taste off, but worth noting.
3.5 Farven er rav med en hvid skumkrone. Aromaen er fyrretræ, humle og malt medens smagen er humle og harpiks med noter af karamel.
3.5 Draught. Amber coloured. Unclear. Dense off whiteh ead. Aroma. caramel, flowers, grape and lightr pine. flavour. Caramel, citrus, herbs, flowers, some bread. medium bodied. ends floral bitter and grapy.
3.3 Bottle. Clear amber body with a constant stream of bubbles. Medium disappearing head, sparse lace on the glass. Full aroma of fruit, hops, orange citrus, medium malt, wood. Medium to full body; chewy. Flavor is dry, bitter, moderate alcohol, pine. Very bitter, was hoping for more citrus in the flavor.
4.4 bottle @ Jungle Jim’s / Eastgate OH --- Hazy dirty medium amber color, one-finger white head that stays, lace cobwebs. Aroma of pine hops and malt. Taste is caramel malt that turns to edgy crisp carbonation on the swallow, then on to solid hops. Somehow, in this massive brew, the malt stays through the bitter end, bringing with it more and more sweet for an impeccably balanced finish. Surprising and terrific brew. Wow!
4.1 Keg in the Head of Steam, Durham. Pours golden with an off white head. Light pine aroma. The taste is big and bold with lots of resinous pine and spice wih underlying caramel. Very good.
3.8 Bottle, 33 cl. Hoppy aroma and very generous hoppy flavour. Semi sweet and rather bitter. Medium body. Bitter finish. Very tasty.
3.3 33 cl bottle @ home. Pours clear golden amber with a white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are pine, resin, and grapefruit - with a bitter finish.
2.8 Bottle. Aroma is sugary cereal with lots of pine too. Tastes way too sweet. Big pine, lots of dank hops, but just too much sugary and honey sweetness. Medium to full body. Syrupy mouthfeel. Hard to finish to whole bottle.
3.5 Bottle from Neil. Pours clear orange, large off-white head, dissipates fairly quickly, good lacing. Aroma is pine and citrus. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter. Medium body
3.9 Virkelig stor smag af humle, og specielt de amerikanske typer. Ikke udtørrende, men smagshumler (aromahumler)
3.6 Bottle at United Club Dulles. Nice dark copper body with medium, fast-receding head. Nose is hoppy, Taste of hops, honey, caramel. Sweet and alcy flavour. Smooth texture. Goes down well.
3.9 Fra flaske (innkjøpt på Kihoskh) ombord på Fridtjofen (RBHD!) aug-15: ah, en ganerenser med amerikansk humlefest fra ende til annen. Og i tillegg særdeles godt balansert. Life is good. Og utseendet? Gylden, med hvitt skum.
4.0 Shared bottle at RB/HD on board Fridtjofen 23.08.15. Slighty hazy orange. White head and lacing. Aroma of citrus and sweet Sevilla marmelade. Similar, and strong, taste. Low carbonation. Superb!
3.7 Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours almost clear dark golden with a small creamy white head. Aroma of fruity US hops, resiny and fruity. Taste is strong bitter, resiny and piney, lovely lingering fruity.
3.9 Shared 330 ml bottle. Orange colour, moderate white head. Nice aroma of fruity / citrussy and spicy hops. Very hoppy and quite bitter flavour, but somehow well balanced. Good beer.
3.5 Klar oransjegyllen kropp med llyst skumdekke. Deilg humlearoma med tropisk frukt, sitrus, og furu, Aromatisk bitterhet og fruktighet. Medium fylde. Delt 0,355 l flaske på RBHD-samling på Fridtjoffen, august 2015.
3.0 Flaska delad med @thaalcoholic, tack. Ljus bärnstensfärgad vätska med vitt skum. Doftar kraftigt maltigt. Smakar kraftigt maltigt! Styrkan finns där utan att bli alkoholig.
3.4 12 oz. bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a deep dark orangey amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out earthy notes, with feet, vegetal notes and resinous hops. Flavour tastes better than it smells, with loads of resinous hops, earthy notes, skunky feety notes, and light bready malt. Well-balanced, without too much sweetness or bitterness. Very good stuff.
3.2 Bottle 35,5 cl. Cloudy yellow/amber with a nice foamy beige head. Surprisingly there is a strong malty aroma and secondly the hops are present in the nose. Rich malty with a balanced bitterness. Finish is due to the dry hopping nice and long. This IPA is brewed with more bitter hops than aroma hops.
