Dominion Lager

Dominion Lager

Dominion Lager is brewed using four types of malted barley: Two-Row Pale Brewer’s malt, Munich, Carapils, and Caramel. The bittering hops are Perle and Hallertau from the Yakima Valley in Washington State. The aromatic hops are domestic Tettnang, German Hallertau Hersbrucker, and Czech Saaz. This combination of malt and hops, along with a classic lager yeast from Germany, and the long, low-temperature lagering process results in a mild, smooth, flavorful, complex beer that is a delight to drink.

3.0 12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with an average white head. Aroma of grain, malt, and grass. Taste is malt, grain, grass, and citrus. Nice to drink.
3.5 Bottle. Amber color with a white head. Good lacing. Aromas of fruit, grain and malt. Good malty and hoppy flavors . Easy to drink.
3.1 Not bad for a lager. Pours a very nice orange with a quite thick head, not usual lager look. Smells like beer, slightly fruity. Taste is sharp, carbonated, malty with a slightly hoppy finish. Has some floral and fruity notes. Not bad! Had in the bottle.
3.1 This is a nice, pleasant and not overly complex lager with subtle caramel and biscuity malt undertones. Light and backgrounded grassy notes add just sufficient depth to make this brew a wonderful addition to any summer afternoon.
3.5 Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is floral, citrus, grass and grainy. Taste is sweet with a crisp tartness on the finish. Light bodied, perfect for the warmer weather.
2.9 BOTM club. Pours a clear golden orange from the bottle with little to no head or lacing. Aroma is bready grains, taste follows, crisp and clean. Solid lager with God taste, but nothing very special.
3.8 Creamy smooth finish, very nice appearance. Mild hoppiness very nice lager with rich barley taste.
3.8 Pours golden lighter amber orange with a decent tan head. The aroma is light sweet and a tad fruity, pleasant, The body is crisp and the flavor brings more bitter malty flavors than sweet with the ending lingering with a lighter wheat like bitterness.
3.2 Pours a dark gold color - almost like an IPA. Nose is a touch of honey, grass, funk. Has a bit of a nutty quality with bready malt. Ok.
3.7 Draft. Lightly hazed gold, effervescent body, thick, patchy lacing. Quiet but clean pilsner malt aroma of toasted grains / bread / crackers; pungent and spicy noble hop aroma of dried fruit rind and dried grasses suggests this is closer to German pilsner than helles, and the light tough of diacetyl that goes well with the quenching minerality, subtle calcium and sulfur yeast character and the savory malt and smacking crispness, I gotta say this is surprisingly good. The balance and acidity of the malt, and the softness too - no coarseness or grain huskiness at all - this is very drinkable. I have no idea if bottles are similar to draft, but if it is, and if I lived in Virginia (which is never going to happen), I would drink this all the time. Seriously decent American-made lager here.
3.2 Tap at Fordham Brewing Co. / Old Dominion Brewing Co. Light golden, clear, nice white head; nice lacing. Aroma of grain and malts. Flavor is consistent, grainy some sweet malts undertones. Solid and drinkable beer. crisp and refreshing.
2.9 On tap at Old Dominion (Dulles Airport, VA). Nice golden body with an average white foamy head. fair malty/hoppy aroma with bready and flowery hints. Its malty/hoppy taste carries bready and herbal notes. Ends with a decent bitter/herbal finish. Good lager.
2.2 From bottle. Pours golden in color. Aroma is straw, grass and bread. Taste followed.
1.2 12oz found for $1.50 on the shelf somewhere. Pours a clear deeper golden to light amber. Thick, nice looking buttermilk head. Not going to lie. Looks good. Solid lacing. Nose is diacetyl, lemon gum drops, medicinal lemon syrup, celery, some DMS vegetals: tomato and cabbage. Taste is diacetyl butter-bomb, not surprised. Very vegetal: cabbage, cauliflower, repulsive all around- old margarine, gas station buffet food, so "overripe" and composted. Palate is faux buttery/dense, some oil. Another complete garbage beer from possibly the worst brewery there is apart from White Birch. This is actually a bit gag inducing, almost impossible for me.
2.9 Bottle. Pale clear yellow color, medium white head. Aroma of biscuit and straw. Taste is straw and cereal.
3.2 Sampled on brewery tour. Draft into small glass. Amber color, white head. Slight sweet malty and bread aroma. Taste is light-medium, adds spice, hop and a little floral flavor. Nice.
3.0 12 fl oz bottle at Harrys Taproom, Terminal B, IAD. Pours hazy orange with a small creamy and white head. Aroma is light diacetyl and toasted malty. Light butterish and malty flavoured. Toasted malty, bitter and light caramelish. Dry finish.
2.7 Very average lager. Poured golden with a white head. A decent beer, but not so refreshing or anything special.
2.5 Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Plain aroma with some light grainy sweetness. The flavor is plain with some grainy sweetness and lighter buttery notes. Decent.
3.5 Harris Teeter, DC sixer ($7): Pours a slightly dark color for a Dortmunder with a white head. Aroma is of grass, grain, hops, and bread. Taste is much the same. Very well-balanced. Full of flavour. Nothing boring, but still this is really nice and sessionable. Hops are in good force. No offensive notes. Nice bready flavour. Made to style, and done well, which is more than I can say about most beer. Is it my favourite Dort? No. Do I like it? Yes. Good value? Hell, yes.
2.9 Solid lager. I was surprised by how light the aroma & mouthfeel was. Crisp lemon, light floral + honey notes, earthy malts, grassiness
3.0 Tap at VA Beach Craft Beer Festival. Pours clear orange with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is corn, meal, grain, and cereal malt, moderate Noble hops, and a clean lager nose. Flavor is malty, corn and meal, light to medium hops and bitterness, dry finish and a clean lager character. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth.
4.0 Video review at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mRltObqih4 Appearance: Clear amber + golden glow at bottom, 3-fingers of head, excellent lacing Smell: Crisp lemon, light floral + honey notes, earthy malts, grassiness, tiny bit of black currant Taste: Medium body, lemon rind, toffee, granola, cinnamon, black currant + blueberry, carmel + earthy malts, slightly dry finish, floral + hop astringency residuals, medium carbonation, drinkable Pairings: Chicken sandwich
2.6 Draft @ Old Dominion, Dulles Airport. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty grainy aroma. Fruity malty grainy flavor. Has a fruity malty grainy finish with some weak bitterness.
2.3 From a twist off bottle. Smells a little strong and perhaps sweet for a lager at first but olfactory eventually evolves to a hoppy mild background. Woo, first taste is lots of hops in this almost making it a weirdly hopped american pale ale in nature. Pale lager look with some brown haze in there. Yes, highly hopped in a dull lager processed kind of way. Same with the finish. Decent co2 thru the session. Much personality. IMHO not nearly as good as 1 Edenton Helles Angel 2 Blue Canoe Titusville Gold Lager 3 Löwenbräu Original 4 Höss Neuschwansteiner Helles Lager
3.3 Thanks again to my beer buddy Big D!!! A decent larger, not much brewers can do with this style. This beer is on style, and it has a nice hop in the finish. A good beer of its style.
3.3 Slightly cloudy, yellow/gold appearance with a small white head and a fair amount of lacing. Subtle aroma; some sweetness, some grassiness, some crisp fruit. Malty, cracker-like flavors up front with a dry, bitter, hoppy aftertaste. Medium-to-light bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel with a lingering finish. Reminded me of the now retired DeGroens Helles.
3.2 Reviewed from notes. Pours a clear golden color with some visible carbonation and a white head. The nose is slightly hoppy and floral with some grain. Taste brigs slight bitterness and some straw and grain. Feel is light and crisp leading to good drinkability. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 11-01-2010
