3.4 375 ml cork and caged bottle from Les Vignerons. Huge pop from this one! Dark amber, quite hazy, with a huge, fluffym forever lasting off white head. Tons of strawberry & cream upfront, as close to the actual candy as possible. Slightly funky in a milky/lacto kind of way, slightly peppery and floral, with some more fruity reminiscence in the background. Pleasent malty sweetness upfront, silky and smooth mouthfeel, super mild astringency just before a short but powerful earthy and spicy bitterness. A hint of hazelnuts and candied orange peel in the background. The alchool is extremely well hidden. Average carbonation, medium body, slightly oily texture. Different but tasty.
2.6 Amber with a huge and fiizzy white/tan head. Like licking drywall. Bland, but still off. There is the faint shadow of a Belgian-like yeast and tartness, but it’s deep below the overall taste.
3.2 nice enough house/table beer, but the price here in the states prevents it from being such a beer. amber malts with light hopping and a present but in the background belgiany yeast. a little dusty.
3.3 Decent Amber beer. It feels, smells and looks like a amber. Nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary. A shame.
3.3 500 cl cc from Whole Foods PM. Hazy orange pour with fluffy, off-white head. Heavy cork pop. Nose is cobwebby malt, hopcitrus, tannins. Tastes malty, vibrant, with hops, and a british bitter quality plus some old aley yeast.
3.6 bottle @ Grassroots Natural Market / Jacksonville FL --- Nice aroma of slightly sour malt. Hazy dark amber color, solid beige head, no lace. Taste is sour malt that adds some caramel and earth before a carbonated swallow takes over. Slightly more bitter on a smooth medium finish.
3.7 Bottle 0.375l from Dranken Geers Ghent Belgium.Pour it dark brown color with small white head.On the nose malt.Taste and aroma of malt, sweet and funky again of malt.Good compact and good carbonation.
3.2 Dormaal’s second ’farm ale’, with thick, light beige head and deep brownish, cloudy orange blonde colour. Aroma of apples, walnuts, pear, caramel, cognac, grass and honey, taste a soft rounded fruitiness, mellow maltiness with agreeable nutty hints but primarily caramel-like, mild hoppy finish without any real bitterness, thirst-quenching, a bit earthy.
3.3 Aroma of sweet malt, ripe fruits, some apples, yeast, some spices. Flavour is medium malty sweetness. Carbonation is on the high side, finish is dry. Interesting, not your typical Saison.
3.2 Bottle at home. Pours cloudy dark orange with a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is toast and grain malt, earthy spices and hops with pear esters and dates. Flavor is sweet malt dominant, light hops and bitterness with fruity esters and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation. Seems more like a Biere de Garde to me.
3.3 Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance had a nice looking bronzed amber color to it. It had a one finger white foamy head that died at a moderate pace. There was just a bit of thin sliding lacing. The smell had a delicately sweet malty base with a fairly deep rustic earthiness to it. The taste was sweet and earthy with a decent rustic backup to it. I did get some sweet apples and pears in this one. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a decent sessionability about this. The carbonation was fairly smooth. Overall, I say this was a pretty good saison worthy of having again.
3.8 375 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/2014. Pours lightly hazy deep copper amber color with a 2-3 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon zest, pear, apple, black pepper, caramel, toast, brown bread, herbal, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast ester and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, black pepper, caramel, toast, brown bread, herbal, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, black pepper, caramel, brown bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt flavors; with a very nice malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good amber saison. Good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
4.1 Pours a very dark, almost brown amber color with a huge pillowy white head. Aroma is a little bit sour, dark fruit, honey seem to dominate the nose. Tastes of caramel, honey, dark fruit, sweet grain, and cereal. Nice beer, would definitely drink again.
3.3 Bottle from good spirits co glasgow Aroma is faint grain with sweetish notes pours a golden colour with white thin head taste is light hops with a little fruit medium dry longish bitter not a bad beer but not a great one
3.0 Troebel bruin.
Geschmack würzig malzig, Citrus, minimal bitter, hefig.
3.4 37,5 cl bottle. Hazy amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, fruit, spice, caramel and bitterness.
3.6 Bottle. Hazy Amber with an Orange flecked White head. Slightly funky farmhouse vibe to it. Yeasty with a solid caramel foundation. Very nice.
3.6 Bottle (375 ml) from Beergium. Shady amber, mediuj off-white head. Earthy, nutty and slightly almondy malt aroma, some peppery and bubble gum phenols, an dfloral hops. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Dry with medium bitterness. Saison?
4.1 Bottle from the Bierkoning. Hazy deep amber pour with frothy white foam. Aroma of farmy, peppery, almost bretty yeast, with a fresh grassy herbal character, quite reminiscent of saison Dupont. Taste is spicy, ultra dry, mild malt flavor, ever so slight hint of vanilla, with a long grassy and peppery finish. Palate is light-med bodied, dry with aggressive carb. Very nice.
3.1 Typical belgian amber. Yeasty, malty, sweet and with a note of caramel. Bit boring as well though.
3.5 Dark Brown pour with an off white head. Nose is sweet candied fruits. Taste is malty, brown fruits, funk.
3.6 33cl bottle with a cork on top. Appearance:Medium amber hazy color twit a all cream colored head Aroma: yeast and Caramel malts with some zest Taste: Medium sweet , softy malty with a little sournescitrus fruits in the middle and finishing sweet aain with a little bit alcohol in the background. (Not a broad palate and not really a saison, but it works very well for me.) soft carbonation, medium body, slick texture
4.0 Dobre tresciwe piwo sezonowe ze spora piana, malym koreczkiem no i chlebowo drozdzowym smakiem i lekkim nieprzesadzonym karmelem.
