Dos Equis XX Ambar (Amber)

Dos Equis XX Ambar (Amber)

Dos Equis Amber is a rich, full-bodied Mexican import with a reddish-gold color and is made from the finest ingredients, representing the brand’s traditional Mexican heritage. The history of Dos Equis Amber is traced to the development of the popular Oktoberfest-style of Vienna lager originally created during the mid-19th century.

2.5 Clear, orange-golden colored, medium off white head. Malty, some toasted notes, caramel, light herbal bitterness, dryish finish. Medium to light bodied, soft carbonation, bit oily.
2.0 Apparently never rated prior. Amber pour. Tastes and smells of cardboard and grains and corn. Watery. Pale malt.
0.8 Backlog, Amber color from a bottle, notes are light cherry, toast, cereal, corn, and butt cheek juice. Light bodied and forgettable. Maybe a worse Yunegling, thats tough to do. Congrats
3.0 Good after taste!
2.3 Bottle at some night club in Roma Norte, Mexico City. Clear amber liquid with small off-white head. Aroma of bread, light toast, light noble hops and light corn. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of toast, bread and light corn. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Decent but I prefer the standard XX.
2.6 Light but quite good.
1.8 A very dull beer.
4.8 Delicious taste, incredible beer, don’t you ever hesitate to try it once at least.
4.4 A nice beer which has a slightly more distinctive flavour than the regular Dos Equis. Liked it more at first but this turns out to have an aftertaste. The Especial Lager is more drinkable so it gets the edge with me. I mainly drink beer with food and to cool off so this matters to me. Otherwise I really like this beer compared to other brands.
2.7 Regular. Poco aromática, espuma poco persistente. Sabor fresco dulzón a malta. Medianamente carbonatada. Cumple estándar de lo que nos gusta mayormente en México, cerveza ligera para refrescar y tomar mucho.
3.8 12 ounce bottle into lager glass; bottled on 12/28/2017, best before 12/2018. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper/amber/light reddish color with a 1 finger dense and rocky cream colored head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of cracker, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, and brown sugar; with lighter notes of caramel, nuttiness, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Some fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity of bready malts and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of cracker, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, and brown sugar; with lighter notes of caramel, nuttiness, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, brown sugar, caramel, nuttiness, wood, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Very clean on lager flavors, with minimal fruity/yeasty notes. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is good. A bit thin, but not too watery. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is a very good Vienna lager. All around nice robustness and complexity of bready malts and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/clean/refreshing to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful for the low ABV. Very clean and nicely rich Pils/Vienna/Munich malt flavors; with mild earthy hop presence/balance against sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.
4.5 Love this dark beer! Nice and smooth.

2.6 Copper color with typical beer aroma. Taste is lighter for amber beers, a little caramel malt sweetness that finishes bitter, reminds me of many European lager beers.
2.8 Bottle - not a fan in a bottle, but one of my favorite red ales at a Mexican restaurant in draft form. Takes like hot dogs in a bottle.
2.2 Pours clear, dark, amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma of malt and influences of spice. Taste is sweet with a notable malt body. Palate is very weak, no discernible elements. Drinkable, nice flavor to it.
3.5 Not too bad for a Mexican red ale. Good palate and a nice smooth finish. Not the top of my Irish ale beers but good.
5.0 It's the best.
3.2 Pours dark amber / brown with off white head. Malty, caramel, biscuit, with lots of flavour. A long tine since I had this but I really enjoyed it
2.2 355ml Flasche. Klar und bernsteinfarben mit minimaler Schaumkrone. Leicht Malznoten. Leichter Körper. Etwas herb, sonst fast geschmacklos.
3.1 So you want to talk to talk malt and hops and brewing technique, go to another beer. I just finished mowing the backyard on a 97 deg Texas afternoon. I want to talk cold and smooth and tasty. I pop the lid on the ice old 12 oz bottle, push in a slice of lime and slam half of it. Delicious. Mexican beers need to be consumed in the context of Mexican beers. XX Amber is one of the best ones. I’ll step off the soapbox now. 6/29/18. Since first rating this beer, it has been my standard at the bar inside a local Mexican food restaurant that I frequent with friends to watch sports. My appreciation has grown and likewise I’m kicking the rating up a bit.
3.0 Bottle . Amber pour with an off- white head. I've had "real craft" amber lagers that I liked less.
2.4 0,3 litre Bottle from Systembolaget Charlottenberg. Dark amber with offwhite head. Malts, hops and Caramel.
2.8 Fles 25cl thuis. Licht kruidig, waterig, wat zoet. (12-2013).--------------.
1.8 Too watery. Very little flavor. Not terrible but not good either.
3.4 12 oz bottle. Pours dark mahogany brown with a big off white head and lots of lacing. Smells of nuts and malt sweetness.Big mouthfeel with sweet notes well balanced by a drier middle and a lingering hop sour in the finish. Nicely made cerveza.
2.6 I haven't had this in a while, so reviewing on some old time memories. May have had it a few times at a Mexican restaurant as well. Reminds me a bit of Amstel Light, but stronger....so maybe Amstel? Also like Negra Modela, although I'm not sure which one is better...maybe Modela? A decent all around average beer....definitely drinkable. UPDATED ON 7/4/11- About the same as remembered. Could be my favorite Mexican beer up there with Negra Modela still. These are the ones to get when looking for economy Mexican brews.
1.9 16oz at On the Border. Pours a hazy amber color with no head. The no almost no aroma or no flavor, not the best Mexican beer out there.
4.5 This is THE beer to have with Mexican food, especially cheese enchiladas. I don't understand the negative reviews here. Perhaps it is an acquired taste, but that is difficult to relate to since I have been drinking this for half a century with Mexican food - and on its own. The flavor is unique and absolutely addictive.
