Drake's Aroma Coma IPA (6.8%)

Drake's Aroma Coma IPA (6.8%)

Aroma Coma is our summer seasonal India Pale Ale. We’ve brewed it annually since 2009 for a local IPA festival, where it was selected one of the top three beers in the competition. The malt bill consists of almost all 2-row barley malt, with a touch of Caramalt for body - leaving you with a delightfully hop-forward experience. Generous amounts of Cascade, Chinook, CTZ & Citra hops create the citrus, pine, and floral notes. Breathe ’Em in and enjoy!

4.3 Surprised to find this at our local pizza place. A tasty strong ipa that has great flavor that smooths out the ipa bitterness. Note to self: get this one again.
3.7 Label says it's an 8% and "2x". Bottle. Amber with an off white head. Aroma of marijuana, boiled oranges, bread. Medium bodied. Sweet with peach, dope and herbal notes yielding to progressively toppier citrus and some pine. Gradual finish is fairly bitter. Unspectacular but refined and tasty.
3.6 Rating the 8% version. Bit odd it doesn’t seem to be included here as it seems common on Untappd. 355ml bottle at House of Belgium, Xiamen. Pours clears golden with a white head. Aroma of pine and tropical fruit.
3.4 Hazy orange-amber with a decent cream-colored head. Aroma is mostly earthy hops and fresh hay. Malty with a nice hop flavor with only moderate bitterness. Full bodied, long hoppy/bitter finish. An aggressive IPA with lots of balancing malt. Nice combo!
4.0 Somewhat cloudy orangeish yellow color with a thin head of creamy white foam. A big boquet of spice, herbs, and pine with light citrus zing. Very malty at the base with a near rye grain taste. An IPA that really lends more to the herbal qualities than the citrus.
4.0 Draft. During my bachelor party long weekend in the san francisco area, second stop Drake’s Dealership. Brown pour with light head. Thanks to the server who bonus’ed this for our group. Light amber pour with light head. Full citrus, grassy and herbal hop tones.
4.5 On tap, pour of an unfiltered murky yellow orange. Decently puffy head that disappears promptly. Smells like a wild array of hops and fruits, full bouquet right here. Taste follows, butter hops that match up with fruit. Very nicely balanced. Superior!
3.7 From tap at Drake’s Dealership, Oakland. Hazy amber orange color with off white head. Hoppy and light malty aroma, grass, pine, citrusy fruity, grapefruit, caramel, bread. Light to moderate sweet and moderate bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.0 Pretty decent beer. A little bit of fizz, but still quite smooth. It’s tasty enough, without being remarkable.
3.4 Bottle shared at Bottle Share. Another IPA. More hops. More flowers. More grass. More grapefruit.... wow.
3.3 Bottle from Whole Foods SoMa, San Francisco<.i> Hazy golden color with compact head. Nice hop aroma, pungent, a bit resiny. The mouthfeel is dry and lean, there is no notable malt flavor; strong bitterness, with some resins, but not much hop quality, hence the final is rather boring. The hops are not bright enough, the malt doesn’t contribute enough; ok beer.
4.0 Medium yellow pour. Amarillo and citrus hop aroma. Flavor is light lemon, lime, tangerine and grapefruit, with a little sugary sweetness. Finish is slightly bitter. Body and level of carbonation are light. Pretty easy to drink. Good beer.
3.9 Pours yellowish orange with white head and some lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine. Strong and pleasant. Taste is the same with a solid malty backbone. Great brew.
3.6 Bomber from whole Foods Santa Barbara - no dates so I have no idea when bottled - pours a lighter yellow - ok aroma but I expected more - nice hoppy citrus flavor with malt in background just like I like it. A good but not great IPA - would like to taste this fresh from brewery
3.6 Bomber. Pours a clear golden orange with a white head and aroma of hops and citrus. Taste is bitter sweet, with citrus, hops, pine, and floral notes into the dry, bitter finish.

4.0 22 bomber to tulip. Pours clear gold, big white froth head. Aroma is big wet fresh hops, pine resin, citrus and trop fruits. Taste is same. Very hop forward, light pale and crystal malt backing. Not as bitter as the nose would suggest. A lot fruit juices actually. Finish is bittersweet with some spices. Doesn’t linger, no heat. Big carb, body is watery.
3.9 Appearance was clear orangish gold with lasting creamy white 2 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are citrus, tropical, pine forward hop bomb. Taste are grapefruit, orange, pineapple, guava with slight sweet malt backing. Ending is pine resin with touch of grass. Palate was smooth soft CO2 with medium body, lasting fruity piney slightly drying finish. Overall a solid American west coast IPA, drink it.
4.0 Bottle [from Secret Santa 2015] shared with Joes. Clear golden color, medium to full sized off-white head that lasts for quite a while and leaves good lacing. Aroma is moderately malty, good hops, lightly grassy, some pine. Taste malts, hops, quite grassy, firm pine and resin, firm to heavy bitter. A bit sticky texture. Medium body and carbonation.
4.0 Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is pine, guava, grapefruit, dank earth. Taste is the same with some honey notes mixed in. Very aromatic (as the name implies) and refreshing.
3.8 Another great offering from drakes from bomber to pint glass. Massive citrus that is well balanced by the pine.
3.8 On tap, orange golden color with medoum sized head and lacing. Notes of Citra and cascade coming through nicely with some grapefruit, orange skin, and caramel malt. Medoum bodied solid ipa.
4.0 Bottle. Pours a clear orange with medium frothy white head that lasts. The aroma is strong floral hop and tropical fruit. Medium mouth, sweet caramel, honey, dark fruit, citrus hop with resin finish, very nice.
4.0 Bottle. Pours hazy orange with fluffy white head. Nose is orange and tangerine. Taste is orange and grapefruit. Lasting bitterness in the aftertaste.
3.5 Pour is clear golden with a huge frothy white head. The nose is grapefruit, citrus and some toastiness. Taste is loads of citrus and grapefruit, some grassy hops with a long pine bitterness. Pretty dry for an IPA. Low carbonation! Well done West Coast IPA!
