Drake’s Black Robusto Porter is a deep, dark “Robust Porter,” a beer style known for being darker, fuller-bodied, and higher in alcohol by volume than a standard Brown Porter. Our Black Robusto goes down smoothly with flavors of bittersweet chocolate an slight roast from Crystal and Chocolate malt. A touch of spicy, herbal hop character from Willamette hops balance out the finish. Enjoy a pint with dark, lingering satisfaction.

4.0Black with a tall tan head. Coffee notes, cocoa, light earthy hops. Finish is bittersweet chocolate and dry. Medium bodied. A sharp, tasty porter.
3.9On tap at Drake’s Barrel Room, pours a deep dark brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and some oaty heartiness. Flavour is very heart and robust, with lots of toasted malt, oats and lovely roasted barley. About everything I could want in a porter. Excellent.
3.8Rocky beige head quickly left a cover on a still, dark brown body.
Chocolate, spice, hints of coffee & bitter fruit aroma.
Medium bodied, so smooth.
Bitter dark fruits, dark chocolate, spice & dark fruit tastes. Excellent.
4.0Emeryville, Ca - Target - 22 oz bomber. Sable black pour, mocha colored head, a bot of lacing. Aroma has some creosote, a bit of licorice, some topsoil. robust flavor, strong bittersweet baker’s chocolate notes, some black coffee, a hint of anise seed. Nice chalky grittiness to the mouthfeel, Rating #22 of my 2017 Northern California vacation.
4.0Bottle. Dark brown black. Head is thin to medium and brown. Taste is medium bitter. Aroma and flavour is molasses, coffee, chocolate, nutty. Super smooth and balanced.
4.0Pours dark black with some tan head, deep roasty aroma with hints of smoke, full mouthfeel, taste full of malts and some smoke, bottle.
4.0Porter przywieziony prosto z USA. Bardzo ładny, ciemnobrązowy kolor i całkiem spora, beżowa, równa piana. Aromat palonych słodów i czekolady. W smaku pełne, treściwe. Sporo czekolady, pralinek i trochę kawy. Bardzo gładkie, aksamitne. Smaczne piwo!
3.7From tap at Drake’s Dealership, Oakland. Black color with beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, chocolate and coffee. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Light to medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.4Pours black with a cappuccino colored head, very stable. Aroma is caramel, earth, tea, nuttiness. Not as much of a pop to it as I wanted... Nuts and coffee, a slight bittersweetness. Decent but nothing special here.
4.3Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee.
Appearance:
Opaque black beer with a slight/medium brown/dark brown head.
Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, chocolate and mocha; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread, roasted malts and coffee.
Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. What a great beer and even more so for its abv. Starts rather sweet and ends with mellow, but still distinct, coffee. Simply love these flavours.
3.4Tap at GABF. Pours a dark brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast coffee, chocolate, earth hop. Medium body, similar flavors to nose, nice bitter roast finish, good.
3.1A little ’flat’ tasting. Not in terms of fizz, but in terms of flavour. Hint of coffee taste, but not huge amount. Not too bad.(K)
3.7650ml bottle shared at home. Hazy dark brown with a medium beige head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Good bitterness with subtle sweet tones. Dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, brown sugar and spices. Nice porter.
4.6The only reason that holds me back from classifying this as the best porter I have had is because Founders makes the best porter. Period. Black Robusto measures up very closely. 22oz bottle poured into a large wine glass. The head is dense and creamy with a light brown/dark tan color. The look is solid black. The aroma is sweet caramel malt, chocolate and some floral notes. The flavor is semi sweet cocoa and velvety caramel malt.
3.622. Pours an opaque matte black with a dense and creamy tan head that lasts. Nice roasty approachable nose; some coffee showing, some black bread crusts in the background. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Roasty, bread crusty, coffeeish mid palate with a mild roasty finish. Nice porter, worth repeats.
4.0Very dark brown pour, dark tan head. Just lovely looking. Aroma is bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, coffee tones. Creamy mouth feel with a nice blend of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts. Very, very nice.
3.9A fine offering from Drakes Bought at the brewery
Bottled 3/23. It is about a month old ...poured in a snifter
Tan head over black body greets me
Aroma is coffee, mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy akin to a Three Musketeers
bar. Balanced roasted malts meet coffee linger on the palate.
A good experience. Nothing lacking or compromised.
3.8Pour is a deep still black, tiny little head with tiny little lacing. Smell is nutty, chocolate, black coffee. Taste follows. Bitter coffee and sweet dark chocolate battle it out with chocolate eventually winning and leaving a sweetened palate
3.9Pitch black, beautiful brownish head, bubbly.
Smell is tiramisu - sweet coffee with cinnamon, caramel, biscuit, subtle and warm bitterness. Liquorice and chocolate.
Taste is watery bitter, with subtle ash and nice fizz. Chocolate sticky oiliness with a bitter chewy finish. Leaves a fresh herby feel on the tongue. Beautiful balance - delicious!
3.3[2/1/16] Draught at Hop Grenade in Concord. Black with tan foam. Aroma of roast, coffee, chocolate. Bittersweet flavor, with roast, coffee, dark chocolate.
3.7On tap the the barrel house. Pitch black coloured pour with a lasting sticky mid tan head. Aroma is robust rich black roasted barley, charcoal. Dark choc. Flavour is composed of milky coffee, dark roast, slight ashy, rich. Palate is medium sweet frothy airy carbonation, slightly creamy. Good.
2.8Pours a black color with a robust dark malt aroma. Taste is roasted malt and dark roast coffee. A bitter malty aftertaste, with a lingering bittersweetness. An interesting semi sweet chocolate chip flavor in the end.
3.6Pours a jet, motor oil, black with a thick mocha head. Aroma of bitter roast, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste follows, medium body, solid porter.
4.0Bottle poured dark chocolate brown with a tan head and oily lacing. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, and lactose. Flavor is medium cocoa bitter with a slightly sweet finish. Delicious.
4.0Tap at mikkeller bar, san francisco. Black color, smooth tanned head. Aroma has lots of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts. Balanced roasty taste, chocolate, coffee, some hops at the end. Very nice porter.
4.0Big stout masquerading as a porter with gobs of bittersweet chocolate and mocha coffee. Overall, a bruiser of a porter that could use a little more tight structure.
3.8Bottle 65cl / Botella 65cl.

3.2Chocolate and coffee flavors. Quite flavorful and full. Good and hearty but very drinkable and could be a good beer to sip on a hot day.
