Du Bocq Gauloise Ambrée

Du Bocq Gauloise Ambrée

Amber coloured, fine sparkle and delicate and thick head.
Pleasant mixture of the aroma of hops and a slight hint of liquorice.
Pronounced bitterness, mellow and thirst-quenching.

3.0 @ Havregatan 20190928. Bottle (330 ml) from Systembolaget. Malty, yeasty, caramely and spicy, sweet, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry.
2.7 Flaska. Väldigt söt och jästig med tydliga inslag av karamell och marzipan. Generisk belgare.
3.4 Smakrik och i typisk belgisk tradition.

2.8 Weak malty aroma, pours hazy ambery golden with thick small white head, taste of cereal and malty with caramelly tones, little bitter notes at the end. Bought from Ülle pood, Tallinn.
3.1 From old rating. Hazy amber colour, white foam. Almost no aroma, very weak and watery, some caramel, bit metallic. Not bad but not very outspoken also.
2.6 Amber muddy in appearance. Little soury, little bit bitter as a taste. Big creamy head.
2.7 Bottle sample at a tasting at Dror's place. Thanks Odi. Slightly hazy yellow with white head. The aroma has notes of Belgian yeasts, malt, some caramel and some fruitiness. The flavor is sweet and mild sour with notes of Belgian yeasts, some alcohol, some fruitiness and citrus. Medium to full-bodied.
2.6 Bottle at a tasting, thanks Odi. Hazy orange, huge white head. Spicy, floral, soapy and candy aroma. Very sweet, spicy, candy, sugary, honey, caramel, phenolic. Medium-bodied, strong carbonation.
3.6 Bottle. Muddy Brown with an off white head. Aroma of yeast, caramel, bready, slight Spice. Taste is spicey yeast, malty - bready and grains, fruity, slight estery, bitter with a light dry finish. Quite carbonated, smooth a drinkable.
3.5 It pours slightly hazy amber with big sized average lasting off-white head. Foam leaves enough laces for a Belgian. Smells mostly caramel, but earthy yeasty notes and slight hoppy fruitiness are in the mix. Taste is slightly sweet; biscuity malts and candy sugars are with yeasty peppery spiciness and low-moderate bitterness. Dry finish. Medium bodied and effervescent. Easy to drink.
3.0 33cl Bottle @ Saveur-Biere, Lille, France. Dark amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma is malt, yeast, spices. Taste is malt, caramel, yeast, fruits, spices. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.3 Aroma is yeast and plum. Appearance is cloudy amber. Taste is sweet dark fruit and yeast. Palate is smooth, good very fine carbonation. Finish is pleasant.
3.0 Bottle from Lidl, Sowerby Bridge. Dark amber, but with a small glow and a small head. Sweetened, but fairly crisp for a Belgian ale, even with it strength fairly evident. There is some malt evident within the beer too.
3.4 330 ml bottle. Dark amber brown with a medium beige head. Caramel flavor, slightly floral. The taste of malt, sweet, with herbaceous notes.
3.5 Botle from the belgian years. Pours dark amber with nice off white head, frothy. Malty, caramel, spicy nose. Medium body, high carbonation, slick texture. Malt forward, overall sweet with some spicy twist.
3.3 Robe ambrée, reflets bruns, fine mousse crémeuse. Nez plus discret, malt, houblon, céréales. Bouche à l’attaque acidulée, bulle stricte et sévère, finale abrupte. Pas mon style.
3.0 Bottle at home. Pours amber color, huge head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, candy, caramel. Taste is sweet, Belgian yeast, lot of caramel.
3.2 Bottle from Lidl. There is a strong fruitiness along with medium levels of phenolic yeast character - trippel kind of spice mix with light green apple. Moderate caramelly maltiness. Rather dry, which makes the perceived body medium-low. High carbonation. Drinkable, rather average for me though.
2.8 Bottle. Amber color with huge white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, light yeast. Taste, caramel, light candies, yeast.
3.2 Bonne bière ambrée, couleur claire, agréable en bouche avec un petit peu d'amertume.
1.6 Faible mousse, couleur brun orangé assez clair. Arôme très faible de céréales. A la dégustation, les céréales sont toujours légères, c’est peu caramélisé. Franchement une ambrée belge qui me déçoit... 33 Cl à Bruxelles
