DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus!

DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus!

First brewed in 2011, this Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter is jet black in color with a tan, rocky head, full body and creamy, luxurious mouthfeel. Its lightly sweet, malty flavor is accented by rich flavors of chocolate, coffee and peanut butter, and balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.2% abv. Sweet Baby Jesus finishes smooth, dry, and roasty with lingering notes of chocolate and peanut butter so savory, you will exclaim its name!

3.9 Sunday, April 4, 2021. Can 12 fl. oz. 6.2%. Purchase ("La Gargante", Parthenay (79), FR). Easter Day. Home. Black is black ! But the light will come from the tasting, I hope :) A shining pitch black beer with a thick big beige foamy head ; ok retention ; good lacing ! Nutty smell, chocolate for sure, peanut, unfamiliar flavors for me, peanut butter I guess, roasted cereal. Light to medium bitter, medium DRY refreshing, light round sweet in the background. Good body, thin creamy texture, average gaseous, dry chocolate refreshing finish. Overall, really good.
3.3 Old rating from 2017 - 355ml bottle brought back from NYC. Pours a very dark brown / near black colour with a white head. Aromas & tastes of peanuts, chocolate, coffee, caramel & malt. Medium body. Sweet finish
3.3 0,35l lahvové zakoupené přes český eshop americanbeer.cz. Asi nejslabší peanut butter, který jsem kdy měl. Divně vodový, trošku hořký, nepříjemná spálená karamelovost tmavých sladů.
3.8 Aroma is salted peanuts/butter, dark malts and chocolate. The flavor is peanuts/butter, dark malts, chocolate and a a slightly acidic/medium sweet finish.
3.5 Can. Courtesy of rennat42. Thank you Tanner. Pour was black with a foamy tan head. Aroma of roasted nuts, chocolate, peanut butter. Taste was bittersweet, dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee bitterness, peanut, nuts.
3.9 Bottle from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, NY. Pours dark brn/blk with a moderate creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and peanut butter. Approaching full bodied. Flavor is chocolate, toasted/burnt malt and peanut butter. And suddenly coffee. Not dry. Bitter tho. Arguably from burnt malt and coffee. Quite the taste treat. Hmmm
3.5 Not sure that chocolate peanut butter porter actually sounds like a good idea, this is one of those early entries into the pastry stouts isn't it? A forerunner if you will. Well for this most part its just a porter. There's a hint of chocolate in the nose, light roasty flavors, semi-dry, with maybe a peanut butter nuttiness in the flavor, and a slightly creaminess to the mouthfeel. Its OK, and yet fairly stupid.
3.8 Delicious
3.8 35,5cl Bottle @ Drinks of The World, Geneva, Switzerland. Black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, coffee. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, sweet, coffee, nuts. Medium body, average carbonation.
3.7 Bue a Starling Burger Strasbourg. Noire bonne mousse beige. Nez café sucré, biscuit cacahuète un peu salé. Gout café u peu doux, biscuit, malt noir avec clairement un coté beurre de cacahuète pas trop mal. Bon corps. Elle sort des sentiers battus!
3.6 Dark brown in color... Aroma of peanut butter, roasted malts, dark chocolate.... Fairly light bodied, definitely has chocolate peanut butter notes throughout, but a bit thinner than I’d like... Light chocolate bitterness... Decent
3.9 Pitch black color with a tan head. The aroma contains some coffee, dark chocolate, and some peanuts. The flavor is rather bitter with more of the coffee and dark chocolate showing up. A definite peanut butter presence in there. Overall this a good one.
3.2 The aroma has peanuts dark malt and herbs. The appearance is dark with a thin head. The taste is like the aroma with a thin palate. Overall interesting but not outstanding.
3.6 bottle at home... dark black... thin tan lacing... soft nutty nose.. dark malts.. heavy chocolate roast.. heavy roast...dark bitter nutty roast
2.1 Tastes just like the Sweet Baby Java. Coffee dominates. Unfortunate domination of this flavor over any PB or chocolate.
3.8 26Jan2020 Intense roast peanuts, dark roast malts, chocolate and peanut cookie. Hazy, very dark brown, medium, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. Bitter, dark roast malts, intense peanut, burnt peanut husk, soft carbonation, medium bodied.Very nice, one-dimensiona. Bottle from Drinks of the World.
3.8 Really solid porter. Good mix of chocolate and peanut butter. Like a PB cup. Strong malt flavor with a bittersweet coffee element.
4.4 Aroma : Roasted sweet chocolate maltiness, but overridingly sticky chunky Peanut Butter! Taste : Straight away there is a massive cloying Peanut Butter hit, with a hint of chocolate sweetness. The finsh is surprisingly dry though. Surprised that I really liked it, although one was enough...not a session beer for me! (Florida tour Nov 2018-Tap @Coasters Taproom, Cocoa Beach)
3.1 Bottle. Black beer with a tan head. Peanut butter and chocolate aroma. Peanut butter and chocolate flavor with backing harshness. Medium bodied. Peanut butter and chocolate linger with roast and backing harshness.
3.4 Pours black with a two finger, light tan head. Aroma is cocoa, peanut butter and roast. Taste is chocolate, moving to peanut butter and roast. Finish is strong peanut butter and roast.
2.0 my wife liked it, but I just don't understand these peanut butter beers they just all kind of taste dirty to me. this was a bit better than most but I still don't like it.
3.8 Where: Bottle at home With: M Color: Opaque black/brown Head: small, beige Aroma: Strong Peanuts Taste: You really get a heavy hit of both flavors in the taste. Heavy peanut on the front end with a rich chocolate middle. Peanutty aftertaste. Overall: 3.8/5
4.4 Pours dark brown, almost black with a nice khaki head that sticks around. Smells just like Reese’s Puff cereal, not sure where the lactose smell comes from but it is definitely there. Taste is bitter sweet chocolate up front then some roasted malt followed by sweet peanut butter and milk. Something about this beer keeps me coming back for more. Very nice!
4.4 Pb light
4.5 If not for the name, it’d be 5.0
3.4 Huge peanut butter nose, followed by a dry roasty chocolate nutty body. Distant creamy-dry and red fruit porter notes, and an ashy-dry peanutty and bitter cocoa finish. Weirdly pleasing.
3.1 Black pour, small brown head. Peanut butter for sure, with hints of milk chocolate. A bit thin.
4.0 deep dark brown to mahogany colour, huge, dense beige-ish head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma of biscuits (brutális átnedvesedett háztartási keksz illata van!!!), some cocoa and peanut notes; taste has basically the same notes; good one
2.7 Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Stas. Dark brown. Lots of chocolate, peanut, butter, a bit artificial, weird flavor, sweet, unpleasant bitterness, medium-bodied.
