2.9Bottle, nice clear copper color, small head. Spiced aroma of cinnimon, nutmeg, bubble gum. Slick texture, ave carbonation. Med light sweet, lite bittter. Sort of dry finish. Light bodied. Small amounts of malt and hops with some spice added make up this beer. Just ok.
3.3the beer has a nice rounded flavor. slightly nutty with a touch of spice. the malts are slightly roasty and well rounded. the beer gives a nice balanced flavor. this warm up to me.
2.6The aroma is malty and lightly spicy and funky with adjuncts. The appearance is light amber with a thin head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall an average beer.
2.712 oz bottle thanks to 17thfloor. Pours amber with a small off white head. Aroma is strange, caramel, candy cloying some nutmeg spice, an odd stale breadiness. Flavor starts sweet bready caramel with some of the same spice and hint of orange peel. Finishes grainy and a bit bland. Medium body and a soft carbonation.
3.012 oz. bottle pours a clear dark copper color with white head. Nose is cinnamon and nutmeg. I couldn’t taste the orange peel mentioned on the back label. Aroma has some spices, but the aftertaste is malty. The spices do not overpower. Texture is thinner than I’d like. The spices were more noticeable once it warmed up. My expectations aren’t very high for anything from Dundee, but this was worth a try and on sale at a favorite store. A bit unusual and overall enjoyable, but not as great as the back label proclaims.
3.4A clear, copper-red pour with a light tan head. The aroma has nutmeg and caramel with very faint cinnamon. The light body has an oily texture with lively carbonation. The taste is malty sweet all the way through.
2.9Pours copper with white head. Aroma is cloves, ciinnamon, caramel and some cereal notes. Taste is sweet and spicey with a crisp finish. Mouthfeel is very light. Overall this is a decent holiday beer, it is perfect for a cold evening.
3.412oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a clear amber with about a finger of white head. Aroma of caramel, cinnamon and light spices. Taste is the same with some light orange notes. Medium bodied with a thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. Especially for 6 bucks per 6 pack.
3.0(12oz bottle with thanks to blutt59, The Boss) amber and clear, creamy tna head. Nose of spices, gingerbread, caramel. Taste of gingerbread, bit spicy, caramel, cracker, creamy palate that’s medium thick in body.
2.9The beer pours a slightly hazy orange color with a white head. The aroma is a mix of caramel and toffee malt. I don’t get any holiday spices or other aromas that I typically attribute to winter warmers. The flavor is rich and malty with a little bit of nutmeg mixed in. The beer is very lightly spiced but the spices are present. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A decent winter warmer, but not one of the better examples of the style.
3.1Smooth and flavored with spice to add extra character. Tasty, above average holiday beer from Dundee.
0.9Drivel. Where is the robust holiday flair? Where is the rich, malty taste? This beer is way to thin.
3.3Pours a clear, deep, reddish-copper with a lasting, creamy, beige had that laces nicely. Spicy and malty, on the nose, with notes of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and a faint cocoa thrown into the mix. Light-bodied with soft, yet lively, carbonation and a quick, crisp finish. The flavor is similar to the nose with a spicy, malty front and a lightly bitter/dry finish. Cloves dominate here with lesser notes of cinnamon also coming through.
3.2Bottle courtesy Fratto and pikapp327. This beer pours a very crisp and clear bright orange color with a tall, fizzy cream-white head. The head stands tall for a while before finally retreating to the glass.
The aroma is subdued but pleasant. It starts off sweet like a sweet bread or grainy characteristic but then the spices are immediately felt as well. The orange citrus and allspice are what can really be pulled from the aroma; not so much on the cinnamon and nutmeg which is a little surprising. Usually nutmeg is enough to overpower any beer it is put into. Perhaps this is a sign of decent balance?
The flavor is spicy-sweet with a big grainy feel and finish with the spices coming into play near the end. A cinnamon/nutmeg burn can be felt on the swallow, and these flavors are only tasted after the drink is finished. Fairly easy drinking and not overpowering with just a bit of spicy tingle.
I was expecting much worse but this actually turned out fairly nice.
2.505-Feb-11 (12-oz bottle, Part of Handcrafted Beers gift set: Purchased 12-Jan-11 at BevMo in Solana Beach, CA) While the spices are fairly traditional and pleasant for a winter holiday ale, the base beer could use some refining. The sweet, baking spices of cinnamon and nutmeg do stand out in the entry, but they fade a bit in the finish, leaving the brown sugar and the sweet, caramely and very bready malts to leave a final impression, and it’s not especially positive. To be honest, the beer almost tastes like a pumpkin beer, and it’s very sweet and heavy with a papery finish and no bitterness at all. The carbonation is moderate and the beer is totally lacking in any refreshing quality. Honey, cinnamon, caramel, and brown sugar in the nose. Dark orange-amber in color and fully clear, but the off-white head only builds to a quarter inch on the pour, then fully dissipates, leaving no lacing. Sub par as spiced winter brews go.
2.1Bottle from the Pioneer Majestic. Amber pour with an off-white head. Aroma is a little spice, light fruit, and not much else. Taste is caramel, baking spices, and buttery grains.
3.0(12oz bottle, courtesy of blutt59) Pours a clear amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of cinnamon, pumpkin spice, orange peel, and ginger. Flavor of nutmeg, caramel malt, cinnamon, and allspice.
2.9Bottle; poured a clear amber color with not much head. Aroma spice, gingerbread, bread and caramel. Flavor was bready with a bit of spice. Kind of bland but ok.
2.5bottle, pours an amber color with banana and caramel aroma, watery caramel and spiced flavor, not too festive actually
3.412 oz bottle. Pours a clear ruby amber red. Nice piny hop character with sweet bready malts. Sweet and warming spices more akin to a christmas cookie than to a hot spice. Solid brew.
2.712oz bottle thanks to Blutt59.
Lots of spices in aroma and flavor. Wish it was heavier. I like a winter warmer to have a bit more to it, just decent.
3.5Bottle from Graziano’s Pizza in Lawrencville, PA. Great pizza and some good beers. This is a very nice winter warmer, maybe just a little too sweet, plenty of spices, light copper color and a modest head
1.7Bottle: very spicy, overpowering and unbalanced. Not a Repeat. Food Pairing: Nut Bread.
3.2Aroma of cinnamon and spices. Similar taste with some nutmeg in addition. Overall a decent winter brew, but a little on the weaker side.
3.5Amber color with a small head. Very spicy. Lots of spice notes, plus some citrus notes as well. Rich taste.
3.1(12oz bottle). Pours clear amber with 1 finger off-white head. Active carbonation. Aroma of spices, cardboard and orange. Taste is sweet with some bitterness that tastes like the pith from orange peel. Lighter bodied with thin texture. Finish is smooth. Better than I expected.
2.8Purchased in Buffalo before a football game. Pours a amber with small white head. Very fruity lots of spice particularly cinnamon. To be honest just not my style, but I appreciate what they are going for.
3.1Bottle from a mixed box from the Natomas BevMo. Pours ruddy copper with a slight beige head. Aroma: "nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon and orange " - yeah, a bit heavy on the orange, but yeah. Med body; plain carb. Flavor is as advertised, but a bit malty. It doesn’t match Anchor’s, but it’s ok.
2.4Pours amber with thin white head and some lacing. Notes of malt and spice. Balanced taste that is somewhat bland and thin.
2.8Bottle. Pours amber with beige head. Aroma is a bit odd, get some peppery alcohol, faint nutmeg, faint bubble gum. Flavor is very similar with a decent malt back bone. Mouth feel is light-medium with medium-high carbonation. it’s ok.
