Dundee India Pale Ale

Dundee India Pale Ale

Our India Pale Ale is brewed with an aggressive hop profile derived from Amarillo and Simcoe hops. A blend of Crystal malts creates the backbone which supports the hop character without diminishing it.

3.6 Hoppy aroma with a hint of stone fruit. Golden colour with reasonable carbonation. little haze if any - quite clear. crisp white head which lasted moderately but left good lacing all the way to the end. Taste was quite mixed with a somewhat sweet /malty start quickly over ridden my an almost salty bitterness. Palate is long with a lingering bitterness well after the drink is done. Happy with this, not my favourite but I would happily drink again or order when out.”
3.8 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 12/9/2014. Pours lightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, honey, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, honey, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange zest, pine, caramel, honey, toasted biscuit, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, balance, and robustness of citrus/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good American IPA. All around good complexity, balance, and robustness of citrus/earthy hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. This seemed to have some English style influence in flavors, but still felt like an American IPA overall. A nicely enjoyable offering.
3.3 355 ml bottle into glass. Slight hop nose. Deep red/golden beer with solid white head. Mineral water mouthfeel. Initial malt taste is followed by sharp bitters then a lingering floral finish. It’s good.
3.1 Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass Aroma- Has a faint aroma of malt and hops. Appearance- Pours a clear dark golden color with a large white head Taste- Has a rather large malt flavor with some bitter hops. Palate- A medium bodied moderately carbonated beer Overall- An average IPA, it is worth giving it a shot..
3.1 has a grassy malt slight pine hop aroma. Taste is a mostly biscuit malt taste with some small pine hop presence. Not the worst.
3.3 Bottle from bws gold coast. Copper color, white head. Aroma is mainly malty and some fresh hops. Malty body, fresh hops. Lacking balance but ok.
3.2 Cerveja boa, uma índia pale ale honesta e bem encorpada. Bonito rótulo e frescor marcantes.
3.0 Bottle - average size foamy head, clear medium copper color, grassy and mild fruity hop aroma and flavor, mild malt backbone, not bad overall
2.7 pours a clearish amber orange with a thick white head. Aroma is faint grass and citrus. Taste is clean then slightly bitter. No real citrus presence. Creamy mouth feel. Not much linger. ok.
3.0 12oz screwtop bottle. Wasn’t expecting much and didn’t get much but it was surprisingly drinkable. Fairly bland IPA but not horrible.
3.3 small frothy offwhite head. fair lacing. mostly diminishing. clear average-density light amber body. aroma: caramel, moderate hoppy, citrus orange. if: moderate sweet light bitter. ff: moderate sweet heavy bitter; long duration. palate: light medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, metallic finish. Saboroso dulçor caramelado permeado por amargor lupulado. Vencida há dez dias, não apresentou defeitos, tampouco diferenciais em relação à média do estilo. Refrescante. Boa drinkability. 35 s
4.0 bottle. Poured clear deep amber with a thin creamy white head. Aroma is full of citrus hops. Medium body, creamy carbonation with a slight astringent mouthfeel at the end. Lighter malts, grainy with herbal hop flavours throughout, lemongrass and pine notes. A nice drinkable IPA.
2.1 The Dundee brand seems like it has some money behind it. I am not sure why they don’t go and pay someone to brewup a decent beer for them but I guess they’d rather just go w/ the lowest bidder and hope nobody realizes their beers are straight crap. In any case this is an orange beer and actually quite pretty w/ a white head and a fine lattice of lacing. It smells kind of like tangerine and peach, which is sort of nice, but a closer examination leads to a nose-curling twinge of fusel alcohol. Taste is pretty similar but a sort of bubble-gummy malt note comes out and adds a layer of strangeness which I personally do not appreciate. This is a full-bodied brew and slightly heavy for the style w/ medium carbonation. It finishes w/ some lingering sweetness and a little bit of bitterness. This beer is drinkable at best. It has a low pricepoint but there are other brewers making beers at the same price that, if not excellent, at least seem to have been brewed by some sort of professional brewing person (Goose Island as one example). I can never see myself drinking this again if given a choice.
2.5 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Orange appearance with a lingering white head. Sweet malts, resinous hops, pine and light fruits. Garb.
1.6 Do not share this beer with friends when going on a suicide prevention walk, hence you will be saddened when your friends smash the bottle and cut their wrists ...yep it is that bad. Not an IPA, not a good beer, not something I wish I had 5 more of.
3.4 pours golden to amber color with a minimal head. aroma ist quiet pleasent, taste is rather floral and bitter, but without the hopy aromas and the malt body is rather thin. Good carbonation though. alright, but that’s it.
3.1 Less piney and citrusy than your average IPA. Not without merit but ultimately a bit watery and one-dimensional.
2.7 "More along the lines of a well balanced pale than what i look for in an ipa. a little citrus, pine and floral notes, but a little too heavy of a malt profile too. i like my IPAs fresh and hoppy."
1.9 Fairly average wee Indian pale ale. Aroma was mellow and mixed in with a sweet malt aroma. Taste was slight bitter but the sweetness was a little cloying. Flavour overly sweet and syrupy.
3.0 355ml bottle. Poured a clear copper with a small, loose and bubbly, disappearing off-white head. Aromas of grassy, pithy citrus and sweet, caramel and biscuity malts. A little too sweet and cloying on the mid-palate with a medium intensity bitterness to (sort of ) balance. Medium body, medium to full carbonation and a lingering finish. Just a little too sweet for the style.
2.4 Bottle to half-pint glass. Looks solid; a transparent pale burnt orange with foamy off-white head. Smells malty, syrupy, and bitter (in that order). Tastes like it smells with a below average mouthfeel. A mess of an "IPA".
2.9 Tap at Genesee Brewhouse. Nose of lemon and orange, somewhat sugary, with caramel and biscuits. Hoppy sweet orange and lemon and 7-Up flavor, decent bitterness. OK, but shows a weird sugary sweetness.
0.5 Dundee IPA stole my lunch money and degraded my sense of self-worth. What I mean to say is that it’s not very good. I’m relatively sure that the brewery put an IPA label on a bottle of shitty pale lager. This brew smells like malts and has a very faint note of grassy hops. Flavor profile is just... I don’t even know where to begin. It’s spicy in an awkward way. Mostly it’s just a lot of boring malt flavor. The mouthfeel is extremely thin and aggressively spritzy. Over-carbonated and under-hopped would be the best way to describe this beer. In terms of balance, flavor, and aroma this is probably the worst IPA I’ve ever tasted.
2.0 Bottle. A- Malts, subtle grass, subtle citrus, cereal. A- Golden orange color, clear liquid, no head. T- Watery, slight citrus, subtle bitterness. P- Medium body, average texture, medium carbonation, boring finish. O- If this is an IPA, then I am not sure what an IPA is anymore. More like an odd lager that is not very good. I don’t think there is much else to say.
3.0 Hop aroma. Taste is a little bit malt and soft hop. A little bit sweet. Refreshing.
3.0 Bottle from a sampler. Pours a transparent amber with a thick layer of off white head. Aroma of floral hops and some malts. Taste of bitterness, some malts, and just a hint of citrus.
1.5 orange pour with a small white head. Zero aroma. Body is way too thin !All bitter hops taste, big bit up front with no finish. This is my 2nd tasting of this beer , during my first I thought I picked up a funky batch .. Nope it just sucks.
3.4 Transfer from BA review on 5-19-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a golden color with a billowy off white head. The head has a fairly good level of retention but eventually fades to give a medium amount of lacing. Smell – The aroma is sweet and malty. A caramel and bready aroma are the heaviest. These are mixed with lighter citrus and floral notes. A nice sweeter aroma, but a little lacking on the hoppy aromas for an IPA. Taste – Starts out with a more busicity malt flavor. There is a very light caramel in the tongue at the start, but it is much lighter then would have been anticipated from the nose. After the initial biscuit (which is a base throughout the taste) flavors of citrus come to the tongue. It’s is a medium to light level of hoppiness. At the very end some of the caramel sweetness that was detected in the nose comes into the taste and mixes with the citrus hop flavors bringing the taste to its finish. Mouthfeel – The carbonation level of this brew is slightly below normal with the body being just a tad above normal thickness. The body accentuates the flavors well and the lower carbonation does the same. Not bad. Overall – It has some nice flavors, but is lacking in one of the key components of an India Pale Ale – a nice hop presence. If looking for a light hopped affordable IPA this is one to go for.
3.4 It has nice amber color with good clarity and a thin foamy head that is off white in color. The aroma is light with a pleasant citrus hop scent over a faint malt note. It has a mellow pine and citrus hop tone balanced by a thin malt presence. The palate has a smooth mouth feel with a light to medium body and mild carbonation. Basic, smooth, and safe. It has a simple, never over the top flavor that is enjoyable but not one that you would say I need to get more of that.
2.9 12 oz. bottle part of the Seasonal Variety Pack. Pours a yellowish amber with which an off-white 1 finger in length stod. Tastes and smells of American hops, Red Star flaked baking yeast, capers, sea salt, and sweat. Overall, best Dundee I’ve had. Not saying a lot, though.
