Dundee Summer Wheat

Dundee Summer Wheat

An American style unfiltered wheat beer. Pale straw in color, our Hefeweizen exhibits a light cloudiness from carefully selected wheat and yeast. With its spicy wheat malt aroma and crisp hop finish our Hefeweizen is a light, pleasantly flavorful beer ideal for warmer weather.

2.9 Pretty average wheat ale. Slightly hazy gold, thin white head, a bit of wheat, a bit of spice. Light and nicely refreshing.
2.8 [Bottle] Lightly clouded golden appearance, lively bubbles, decent head formation. Sweet malt and citrus aroma, touch of spice. Sweet malty palate, grainy wheat, touch of peppery spice but pretty simle overall. Decent refresher.
3.2 A perfect beer to drink on the first day of summer! It pours a somewhat hazy solar yellow with a fairly thick, if not persistent, white head. Wheaty, yeasty aroma has a bit of a lemony undertone. Flavor is wheaty and yeasty with just a hint of lemon, not strong but still refreshing - perfect after a HOT day. Texture is fairly smooth with a subtle tingle. This is more of a party beer, or a beer to sip whilst taking in a baseball game, than one for sipping by itself - but it’s still a decent summer beer.
2.9 On tap for growler fills at Half Time. Pours a light straw gold with a thin white head. Grain and wheat, sweet, almost phenolic, but not in the good way. Medium bodied, but rather empty. Grain and wheat. Inoffensive but unmemorable. Definitely a lawnmower beer.
2.8 Pours slightly hazed gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Mild wheat aromas. Soft with sweet honey upfront and a mild abrupt wheat finish.
2.1 Doesn’t come across as wheaty, or an ale, or much of anything, just fizzy yeast. Which is still miles better than that damn Porter of theirs. (7/08)
2.6 Light, foamy, with hints of citrus and other fruit. The finish is lacking in crispness.
2.9 From a bottle poured a hazy straw color with a good amount of head. Light malty flavor with a quick finish.
2.3 Had at Tap NY. Taste was very light wheat with a touch of honey. I have to stress how light it was, it’s almost like it wasn’t even there. Not outstanding.
3.0 A cloudy gold, very little head, and finished with no lacing,Aromas of wheat, dough and yeast. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, cereal and a faint hint of spice with a crisp finish.
1.4 Medium golden beer with light head. Not a lasting taste with a small carbonation. A hint of honey, overall not that great.
1.0 Just horrible water, like all American Pale Wheat ales. I only tried it because ti was in the sampler pack.
2.7 Pale gold and a tiny bit hazy, with a small white head that dissipated almost immediately. Tangy, yeasty nose. Mild for a hefeweizen. Watery but crisp, with a bitter finish.
2.8 Bottle. Hazy light orange. Fresh bread aroma leads to mild fruit. Pleasant fruit flavour with a shake of white pepper. Bland; would not willingly drink again.
1.8 28th August 2007 Warning! Early amateur rating! A wheat beer with all the interesting bits taken out! Bland and stagnant! Bleugh!
3.6 Aroma is of rye bread and caraway. Cloudy golden, medium head. Bready lemon with a grass finish. Quite nice, easily quaffable.
2.5 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy gld with a moderate linen white head that lasted through the first two sips and left light lace. Aroma is lightly sweet with weak honey and not much else. The flavor is light sweet honey and some weak, watery malt. Thin body. Not a very good example of the style.
3.0 Bottle- Pours a light hazy golden color with a good head and lacing. Mostly fresh grain aroma with a trace of citrus. Mild sweetness & grain flavor with a trace of citrus. Nice light bitter finish. Light body, smooth & quite refreshing. Easy drinker, sessionable beer. Good go to brew on a hot day.
2.5 Pours a cloudy dark yellow, much like the color of the label, with sediment. I think "Summer wheat" says it all, light taste with a good weight to it.
2.2 Very disappointing - it isn’t your typical wheat ale. It initially hits with sweetness and a hint of honey plus some odd bitterness. It isn’t terrible, but I didn’t enjoy it.
2.3 12oz bottle. Pours a lightly cloudy full yellow, slight orange, with a sticky frothy foamy white sudsy head. Aroma of stale wheat, hint of vegetable or corn or something, faint vanilla. Flavor of stale wheat, hint of banana and rubbery phenol, some bitterness towards the finish with a hint of honey sweetness, long lasting wheat and burnt tire finish. Light bodied, slightly creamy and full, fizzy carbonation leading towards a dry finish. eh.
2.2 Pours a hazy yellow with a little bit of a grassy lemon nose. Flavor is citrusy, grass, light honey, and a little wheat.
2.6 Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a cloudy light orange with deep golden highlights. Little carbonation and medium lacing. Taste is wheat, some tang, some estery, and finishes a little dry.
2.4 Pours slightly gazed and golden into the glass with a light zesty head that diminishes to a tiny ring of lace. A grain and herbal nose ensues. The flavors have some wheat, light honey, herbs and grains. The body is light with a semi-thin mouthfeel. A seltzery dry finish brings forth some lingering vegetal notes from the flavor. This just seems out of balance and kilter overall.
1.7 This is a very weak hefeweizen. Seems watered down and does nothing to make me want another, even in summer
2.5 Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle. Head is no where near what a hefe weizen should be. Disapates fast. Color is a light straw orange. The smell is of citrus and of the obvious wheat. The taste is of some kind of fruit, hard to distinguish. Mouthfeel is alright, makes my mouth very dry after I drink it. However, the carbonation is pretty decent. Overall, not a beer that I would go and buy again, but it was part of the mix pack, so it was well worth a try. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 09-26-2008 04:04:14
1.7 Bottled. Poured slightly hazy straw golden with a light fizzy white head. The aroma picked up toasted grains and vegetal notes, with lemon zest accents.. wet dog as it warmed up. The flavor found honey and vegetal notes at the core (just slightly more honey), with light wheat and lemony tartness around.. sticky and unpleasant on the finish. Light-bodied and dry on the palate.. the tartness was welcoming, but none of the rest of the brew came together.
2.6 Hazy golden white head... minimal aroma for a wheat, some malt sweetness... bland boring, no discernable wheat flavor, odd sweetness... light thin...
2.3 I’d like to find something interesting to say about this, but I really can’t, so I’ll mainly use this space to note to myself not to buy this again (this one was a trade from Ron, thanks!) Looks are decent, hazy, nice lacing. Aroma and palate are minimal an inoffensive. There is some body, it definitely beats an American macro. Earlier Rating: 6/16/2006 Total Score: 2.2 Appearance was nice, copper colored with a nice head. But it sure didn’t seem like it was unfiltered. Looked pretty clear. Did have a bit of the sharp sour yeasty taste. Nice aroma but not the typical hefe aroma, just a standard malt/hops type aroma. Don’t think they should call this a hefe on the label. I’d rate it better if if was represented for what it was, a decent light beer.
1.9 Pours and looks like a hefeweizen, light and cloudy and foamy, but with almost no aroma. Almost no flavor either, just a hint of citrus, and I mean a hint.
