4.2 I’m a bit late to this party! My loss. A massive tan head (Dunham could pull back on the explosiveness of some of its beers on opening!) that thins out quickly like a cola head over a near black body. The nose has nice roasted and bitter elements with roasted dark coffee, cocoa and some caramel sweetness. The taste follows through on those roasty and bitter themes with bitter dark roast coffee, unsweetened cocoa, earthy hops and scorched caramel. Other spices hang in the background. A rich, dense and deeply tasty 6%er.

4.2 Deep and dark brown with a rich and creamy tan head. Aroma is cocoa, firewood, and mushrooms. Taste is bitter chocolate and ristretto with a chalky, dry finish.

3.7 Look: black opaque with chocolate strong head. Aroma: ash, bitter chocolate, light wine notes, light smoky phenols. Taste: dry with hoppy and spicy bitterness. Flavour: coffee, burned bread, bitter spicy herbs, grassy hops, edelberry. Long bitter aftertaste. Good.

4.2 Apparence : Noire au versement, opaque dans le verre, carbonatation pratiquement impossible à voir, col démesuré moka aéré laissant une petit dentelle. Nez : Malt rôti, chocolat, un peu de café et de cendre, fruits rouges présents, houblons terreux aussi présents. Bonne intensité. Goût : Chocolat et malt rôti dominants, comme au nez, le houblon apporte une amertume bien dosée et des arômes terreuses, peut-être aussi résineuses. Le café et le côté cendré sont aussi présents en arrière-plan, tout comme les fruits rouges, apportant une autre touche intéressante. Sensation : Corps moyen, crémeux, effervescence moyenne, finale en amertume bien dosée moyennement longue. Bref : Excellente bière d’une belle intensité avec une intégration des saveurs difficilement critiquable. Bière axée sur le côté rôti du malt sans tomber dans l’acidité, chocolat noir dominant avec les notes cendrées, café et fruitées qui appuient le tout. Je me rappelle en avoir dégusté une plus fraîche où les arômes du houblon étaient plus présents et très intéressants. Le corps de celle-ci était aussi plus imposant que celle notée ici. J’imagine qu’elle gagne à être bu plus jeune.

4.2 Vêtue d’une robe d’un noir ténébreux, cette bière a une texture qui rappele la mélasse. Une magnifique mousse café surplombe la bière, formant un col consistant au bord du verre. L’effervescence semble moyenne. La mousse restera généreuse assez longtemps, laissant un anneau épais au-dessus du liquide et beaucoup de dentelle sur son chemin au fil de la dégustation. Au nez, c’est un bouquet peu puissant, mais qui se dévoile en couches successives. Je perçois des notes agrumées d’entrée de jeu. Ce sont ensuite des touches généreuses de vanille qui s’offrent à mes narines pour finalement laisser place aux arômes chocolatés. Le tout se termine par un séduisant soupçon de moka. En bouche, ce sont d’abord des flaveurs de café. C’est une noire amère. C’est un Porter houblonné, ce qui ajoute un caractère particuler à la bière. Quelques touches d’agrumes se faufilent sur mes papilles par çi par là. La finale est forte et surprenante en astrigeance. Elle laissera un arrière-goût de café et de chocolat noir. La Lapatt a une texture plutôt liquoreuse en bouche. Le liquide est légèrement sirupeux. L’effervescence est mousseuse. C’est une bière à boire tranquillement, après un repas. La Brasserie Dunham est à découvrir par quiconque veut déguster de bonnes bières!

3.6 Black body, big lasting brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, ashes, fresh grounded coffee, hops. Flavours of roasted malt, coffee, some hops, malt bitterness. Long roasted malt finish, bitter and dry.

3.4 Bottle 341ml, a dark beer with huge copper head and good retention. Nose is on dark coffee, light hop resin, touch of astringency. Aroma is on roasted malt, medium sweet and very bitter with a very dry finish, grassy notes, burnt caramel, bit metallic, licorice notes, less creamy, very roasted especially at the finish.

3.4 Versa nel bicchiere di un bel marrone profondo; schiuma generosa, cremosa, di color kaki e di ottima persistenza. Al naso risultano subito aromi di pane integrale, pane bruciato, caffè torrefatto e caramello; a seguire malto sotto diverse varianti, cioccolato fondente e noci. Un lato affumicato e un retrolfatto di frutta scura, soprattuto prugne. In bocca troviamo caffè espresso, torrefazione, crosta di pane, pane nero e caramello. Evidenti sapori di liquirizia, cioccolato fondente ed un pizzico di melassa; un finale che tende verso un amaro erbaceo, corpo medio, elevata carbonazione.

Aroma of roast, coffee, chocolate, a bit of yeast. Dry flavor, roasty, with coffee, a bit of dark chocolate, a bit of yeast, and a strong bitter hops finish, slightly harsh. Medium-bodied. Decent.

3.7 Drank with Marijn at home before heading to Dave’s birthday party 20-5-2016. Was a gusher. Beer has a rich porter taste especially in the end. Very much carbonation, which masks the taste and diminishes the mouthfeel. That’s too bad, because behind that, this beer showed promise, very fine porter-hints.

4.3 Pours a dark black color with a small creamy white head. Nose of roasted nuts, chocolate and coffee. Creamy mouthfeel, medium bitterness finsh, really well balanced. Medium body.

3.6 Pitch-black, slightly offish white head. Smell is roasted nuts, chocolate and coffee. Slight sourness, nice hoppy bitterness. Taste is full and oily. Nice ashy coffee pure chocolate creaminess. Subtle sweetness, touch of resin bitterness, astringent finish.

3.7 Couleur noir avec des reflets brun et un beau col beige. Très (trop) mousseuse!! Nez de malt grillés de chocolat et de café. En bouche c’est crémeux, houblons herbeux,malt grillés,café,chocolat, très fumée, tourbée sur une moyenne amertume. Super!

Body is pitch black, head is very big overflowing, brownish, rocky, fully lasting, good lacing. Aroma is dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, coal, chimney pipe. Light sweet, heavy roasty bitter. Finish is long lasting roasty heavy bitter. Medium body, dry texture, fizzy carbonation. Quite easy, strong flavor, simple, too much carbonation.

3.8 Gusher. Mooie zwarte kleur met een volle kraag. Ruikt gebrand, koffie, drop, chocolade. Smaakt vol, koffie, bitter, chocolade. Bitter afdronk.

4.0 Boutielle partage avec Pierre T. Brune foncé,e col conséquent, épais et crémeux moka. Arôme est fort plaisant et offre des effluves de malts très renforcées avec un renforcement de chocolaté et de grillé. Palais est léger mais un peu éclipsé par la teneur de ce porter en malts. Un savoureux grillé et café donnent une belle note de sécheresse, le tout ponctué par une note de chocolat amer voire poudre de cacao. Amertume houblonnée est discrète et arrive juste en fin de bouche ajoutant un côté noble anglais. Solide avec une mention spéciale pour le caractère omniprésent des malts.
