Dupont / Lost Abbey Deux Amis

Dupont / Lost Abbey Deux Amis

Brewed in Belgium using Dupont’s 172-year-old brewing equipment, techniques, and its revered yeast strain, this collaboration marries the two brewer’s Saison styles and adds American Amarillo and Simcoe hops. The result of this kinship is a dry, refreshing Old World Saison full of peppery spice that finishes with New World flavors of floral orange and earthy pine.

Deux Amis will be available in kegs and 750 ml bottles.

3.6 Fad: Gulorange fuldstændig standard saison men bare rigtig god. Kunne godt have tænkt mig lidt mere humle til at give den et lille kick.

Firm grain base, flavours of fruit and peppery spicy hop. Rich mouthfeel and a long dry finish. The restrained, polished balance of all the flavours is excellent in this very enjoyable beer.

3.4 December 2016 - Bottle share at One Canada Square. Thanks Leighton! As ’Dupont / Lost Abbey Deux Amis’, 7%. Hazy amber orange, translucent and still with a huge foamy off-white head. Aroma is lager-like malts, chalky, some air freshener. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste has lots of apple up front, then wheaty, sawdust with a dusty spicy dry finish. Crisp and clean. Decent saison. (3.4)

3.9 750ml bottle. Poured a hazy golden color with an off white head. Funky, spice, citrus, earthy, and wheat.
3.9 Bottle, 75cl corked. A lightly hazy golden colored beer with a small white head. The aroma is very fruity, with the typical Dupont yeast profile. Black pepper, some yellow apples, pine cone notes and a vague phenolic hint. Its full bodied, dry and nicely carbonated. The flavor too is mostly fruity and peppery, with a little malty touch in the back. Yeast notes, resin and a faint alcohol touch. Pleasant bitterness too. Lasting finish. A really pleasant one, tasteful and dangerously easy drinkable. 170128
3.2 Rating #2900. From notes. Enjoyed at a bottle share at Sean’s on December 29. 750 mL bottle. The pour is a nice hazy golden yellow with a thick, pillowy white head that slowly recedes, leaving a plethora of lace behind. The aroma is traditionally Belgian saison. There is a ton of bready malt and spicy yeast right up front. There is a hint of light banana and candy to go with it. Light bubblegum adds to this, and I don’t like it. There is a greasiness about the flavor. The malts, yeast, and candy band together in a taste that doesn’t do it for me. Light spice, banana, and bubblegum just finishes the job and make me regret taking a pour. I can appreciate this in a traditional sense, but I don’t like it at all. The mouth feel is thicker and greasy with a brighter carbonation and a lingeringly spicy clove finish. No thank you.
3.6 How: Draught. Where: The Bishops Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Appearance: Hazy amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Citrus, fruit, banana, yeast. Body: Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Flavour: Fruit, spices, citrus, yeast.
3.9 Really nice beer. Reminded me of a belgian strong ale more than a Saison. Nice fruity aromas, full bodied. Bitter finish.
3.2 Tap. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is grainy, bready, not so much spiciness, but a bit. Taste is bready, grainy, earthy. Medium carbonation. Okay, but not top-notch.
3.6 Brouwer’s, Seattle. Creamy soft lace, lightest hazed gold. Apple sweet yeast. Smooth, fruity esters. Dry yeast. Light waxy clean cider sweet. Alright character but a little waxy. Alright. Light spice.
3.8 Pours bright gold into a shaker. Bright white head grows and tophats and does not recede. Sweet bubblegum and hay aromas. Crisp with banana and hay upfront turning to bitter earth and pine in the lasting finish.
