Duvel Groen

Duvel Groen

Editor’s Note: This is NOT the draught Duvel (aka Duvel Green). Duvel Groen is only bottled, never draught, and generally only available in Belgium, not the US or UK. ABV went from 7.5% to 7%.

4.0 Hoppy refrrshing
3.4 Pours golden with a thick white head. Mild hoppy aroma. Taste is hops with a gentle bitter note, accompanied by some sweet grainy flavours. Palate is mildly bitter. Good.
3.5 Fles 33cl thuis. EBU 25. Licht scherpig, hoppig, zacht, citrus, licht kruidig. (12-2014).
3.1 Old bottle found in the fridge at Anke's place, best before: 4/2017. Pours clear golden with a lasting, foamy, white head; some lacing. The aroma contains citrus, mandarin, green apple, spices, honey, yeast, some jenever. It tastes medium fruity sweet, a bit citric, and light to medium spicy bitter, some yeast & bread. Dryish, spicy finish, lingering fruitiness (apple). Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. It probably doesn't age well, and it doesn't have the features of its big brother, but all things considered, this is 'okay'.
Medium body, korte afdronk.
3.7 Bottle. Golden with a frothy head. Floral with a hint of lemon. Delicate for a 7%. Highly enjoyable.
3.8 clear golden colour, large, dense and quite stable white head; aroma of grains, hay, floral and fruity notes, as well as some coriander; taste is the same with peppery and earthy-yeasty notes and quite intensive carbonation; really ejnoyable Belgian ale
3.4 250ml bottle. Pours pale gold with a medium head. Aroma is wheaty lemon. Taste is wheaty, with a nutty, lemon yeast finish.
3.4 Bottle. Color: Clear golden, white head. Taste: Over medium sweet malt, notes of honey and white sugar, hints of apricots. Medium to above medium body, below average carbonation. Pretty long sweetish finish. Little bit sticky mouthfeel. Smooth, easy drinkable. Enjoyable.
3.5 Bottle from Belgisk Bryg. Malt and honey in the aroma along with mild fruit and spices. The taste is rather delicate for a Duvel and delicate for a 7% ABV beer. The taste is rather floral with notes of violets, peach and white pepper. A delicate and refined beer. Highly drinkable.
3.3 250mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 04/2017 Looks like a Duvel in the glass....just too small! Blonde with big white head, but looks meek in a big Duvel-brand glass. Nose of spicy peppery phenolics & apricot like esters with a grain malt base. Seems thins compared to the original - 1.5% may as well be 4% - this seems like a mid-strength beer. Seems a bit underwhelming on the body - yeah nice touch of yeasty spice & cereal malt, but just falls short. They basically took the Devil out of Duvel here - not much left afterwards!
2.9 Bottle shared with Zlotta and Koelschtrinker. Klare hell goldgelbe Farbe, mittelgroße weiße schaumkrone. Geruch ist kräftig malzig, süß malzig, gelbe Früchte. Geschmack ist süß, reife Früchte, Getreide.
3.4 0.25 l bottle from 'Belgiuminabox.com', best before March 2018. Clear, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, quite grassy, floral, slightly fruity and a bit herbal aroma of lemon peel, pineapple, fresh grass and some crackers. Just a bit sweet, moderately bitter, rather grassy-spicy, floral, slightly fruity and a little herbal taste of lemon peel, fresh grass, pineapple, some honey and a touch of crackers, followed by a short, medium bitter, grassy-spicy and quite dry finish. Medium body, fairly effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Way better than last time I drank this (because it's a lot fresher), has a refreshing hoppy character and is just not as heavy as the regular Duvel. Old rating: Sampled from 0.25 l bottle from 'Belgiuminabox.com', best before April 2017. Clear, golden yellow with a white head. Sweetish, slightly yeasty-spicy and a bit grassy aroma of grains, cloves, vanilla and some citrus. Slightly sweetish, moderately bitter, slightly yeasty-spicy taste of clove, grains, straw and some citrus, followed by a short, moderately bitter, dry and slightly grassy finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay! (6/3/6/3/13/3.1)
3.1 Hefig fruchtiger Beginn. Starke Karbonisierung, runde milde Fruchtigkeit. Spritzig, leicht hopfig. Durchaus gut trinkbar. 10/9/8/9//10
3.4 Bottle from la superette à bière, Nebian, France. I prefer this one at the regular Duvel
3.7 Bottle 25cl. Poured into a tulip glass. Clear pale golden, tall macropore soapy white head, hal-way lasting, light lacing; rich aroma, malts, yeast, lemon, orange, pineapple, candy sugar, soap; taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, pineapple, bit alcoholic, spicy notes; a bit sharp sweetbitter aftertaste, fruity and spicy notes; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; rich aroma but taste does not follow accordingly yet a nice and tasty beer.
3.4 Bottle - Bready and sweet honey. Clear gold with a rich white head. Bready and a nice honey notes with a touch of spicy bitterness. Very dry finish.
3.2 250ml bottle BB Apr 2017. Golden amber with nice pillowy white head. Aromas of apricot, bread and phenolic yeast character. The taste has an apricot and herbal hop flavour, crackers, strong phenolic notes. Very dry, moderately bitter, medium carbonation. Not bad but nothing spectacular.
3.6 Bottle Aroma-floral, Appearance-pale, clear, white head Taste-light sweet, light sour, light bitter Palate-medium body, sticky, average carbonation, long finish Overall-very good
3.4 Bottle @ home. Giallo ambrato, velato, schiuma beige scarico, fine e persistente. Aroma intenso, luppolo aromatico, erba appena tagliata, lievito belga ed i suoi esteri fruttato, pesca sciroppata, zucchero di canna, pane fresco. Complessa. Gusto abboccato quasi amabile nei primi secondi, finale secco luppolato piuttosto amaro. corposa, calda, carbonatazione soft, piacevolmente spigoloso l’amaro. equilibrata ed armonica.
3.3 Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is pale malt, mildly spicy yeast, grassy hops, with a touch of floral hops. Flavour is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter. Medium bodied. Not bad at all, some yeast was preserved and I like the grassy hoppy notes. Very drinkable.
3.8 Robe blonde, mousse peu abondante.
3.6 F: big, white, long lasting then collapsing and lasting. C: pale gold, clear. A: malt, fresh citrusy hops, tangerine. T: malty, tangerine, passion fruits, orange, hint of earthy, obviously light IPA character, more than expected, medium body, good carbonation, 25cl bottle from Prik&Tik /Quali-drinks/ in Brussels.
3.5 Aroma: Medium/heavy aroma of malts, malts, Belgian yeast, fruit, hops and citrus. Appearance: Clear/hazy yellow/golden beer with a slight/medium off-white head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, Belgian yeast and fruit; ends slightly bitter and slightly/medium dry with hops and citrus. Overall: This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. The aroma has it all, but shamefully the flavour is less complex. Sadly this beer is filtered, Both the appearance, flavour and palate would have benefited if it was unfiltered.
3.3 Prezentacja: klarowne, jasno złote, obfita śnieżna piana powoli opada do chmurki, ładnie koronkuje; Aromat: delikatny - mokra szmatka (trochę w stylu pilsa), pomarańcza; Odczucie: ciało niskie, wysoko nasycone, finisz goryczkowy; Smak: za aromatem i lekka żywiczna goryczka; Ogólnie: typowy pils z odrobiną pomarańczy.
3.1 Bottle of 25cl, in a Duvel glass; from the fridge. Hmmm... It’s a great hoppy beer, but the problem is that Moortgat got the Duvel Triple hop which is far better than this one... Great light hoppy aroma and taste. The coloour is blond with a white foamy head.
