Duyck Jenlain No. Six

Duyck Jenlain No. Six

Filtered, and lagered but unpasteurised.

Launched in 2000 as Jenlain Blonde. Changed to Jenlain No. Six in March 2005, with Jenlain Blonde name being used for a new 7.5% beer.

With its splendid golden hues and fruity tones, Jenlain No. Six has a distinctive bitter finish and a hoppy nose. The barley-scented liquor sparkles under its light, foamy head. Light and thirst-quenching, with a rich characteristic savour, it is best served at between 5 and 6°C, with a meal or as an aperitif.

3.0 Niedliche kleine 0,25l-Pulle. Test vom 13.7.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,10,12,9,12,9 - 10,05
2.0 Bottled 250ml Saveur. Clear golden color, small white head. Grassy, papery aroma. Light to medium-bodied, Sweetish malty, cardboardish flavor. Short metallic finish, even a bit unclean. Feels a bit less alcoholic even. Not very impressive.
2.0 Bottle thanks to deanso. Pours clear golden. Aroma is malty, yeast and a bit floral. Light sweet and light bitter. Not really good. Light body with average carbonation.
1.8 Bottle courtesty of Deanso. Poured a hazy light amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is yeast and weak gluey resin. The flavour is weak bitter with bags of malt and more malt on top of that on the weak and watery palate. A truly awful malt beer i’m sad to say. Golden hues, fruity tones and a hoppy nose? Someone is having a laugh !
2.6 Can 50Cl, a clear golden beer with low head. Nose is on barley and corn sugar. Aroma is sweet, light burnt caramel, peppery hops, light lemon and orange notes, nutty, light paper touch, dusty hops.
2.7 25cl bottle via a friend. Thin white head. Clear golden pour. An ok lager.
3.2 Bought at Vinmonopolet DK, very nice color, it was suitable for the hot danish summer of 2013, smooth and malty.
2.5 Pours gold with a large head. Nose shows hay, grainy cereal notes and spicy, grassy hops. Similar flavours, both in terms of hops and malt. Finishes with a light, well-suited bitterness. Body feels a little light.
2.4 Very clear yellow, quickly disintegrating head. Dry yeast, light bready, simple. Dry, simple malts. Light bitter. Simple and clear, boring and tasteless. No thanks. (50cl can from Casino)
2.5 was positively suprised - not bad beer esp for french beer. its colour and carbonation were rather unsatisfying- could do better.
2.4 Old rate, had it around christmas time. Slightly skunky, mild herbal notes, too expensive for what it is.
2.9 Surprisingly good for a lager. Fresh even with slightly higher alcohol than rest of the lagers. Not too bitter, bright golden color.
2.1 330ml bottle. Pours a pale yellow. Quite carbonated, small head. Surrenders (pun intended) carbonation quickly. Tastes quite hoppy but a stale after tatse
1.5 Hazy golden color with a thin lacing of white head. Aroma is a little musty but overall nondescript. Flavor is like a musty Budweiser or other American lager. Vague notes of toffee malt in the finish, leaves a distinctly unpleasant aftertaste. Not crazy about this at all.
3.0 Golden with a white head - nice malt aroma - good malt body with some bitterness - long malty ending with some bitterneotes - this was good
1.9 Can. Aroma is murky bready malt, some faint flowery hops. Meh. Flavour is bready malt, faint malts, some dusty old malt. Meh.
3.1 330 ml can. Clear pale golden body with a white head. A bit weak in aroma, mild malt and slightly spicy/fruity yeast. Flavor is soft, light and sweet malty, fruity, spicy and refreshing. Noting really exiting but a decent thirst quencher.
Test vom 2.8.2009, Gebinde: Dose Noten: 9,7,8,7,9,7 - 7,45
2.7 An ordinary pale lager, clear gold color. Simple corn/malt flavor. Not offensive in any way and very drinkable.
2.0 Bought a pack of these from a French Hypamarket: 25cl throw away green bottles, just for drinking in the kitchen while cooking and stuff over Christmas, saved one to review at leasure (Jan 2012). They were great just for ’out the neck’ quaffing in the hot surrounds of the cooker but didn’t really notice the taste etc, I just ’necked’ them. This bottle however will get some respect: poured into an ’Augustijn’ labelled chalice. It looked like your typical European lager/pilsner. Light golden body, bright, clean and clear, on top the usual white head that refuses to hang around. The smell was slightly metallic with hints of a hop (yes, you read that correctly, a hop). The beer is supposed to be filtered, and lagered but unpasteurised. So it’s a lager then! The regular lager/pilsner body depth is almost reached, but this is a bit thinner and weaker really, the 6% ABV isn’t hidden too well and the flavours are not strong either:it’s a cheap supermarket lager in all aspects. Strange how I enjoyed just drinking this beer a lot more than I have dissecting and reviewing it. The beer had a chance to warm up a bit too as I wrote this review, you don’t want to drink this unless it is cold, trust me!
3.2 Bottle, 33 cl. Almost clear golden beer, some sediments though. No head at all (bbd 01/10 12). Aroma is sweet spicy, flowery and light fruity with notes of toasted malts, bread, honey, straw, abricot, grass. Taste is sweet and spicy, some phenols, grassy hops. Very flat carbonation, light watery mouthfeel, medium bodied. Dry medium bitter finish. Quite refreshing, quite complex for a lager, but could do with a bit more body.
2.6 Golden coloured and clear. Has a white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma is sweet and malty, light bread. Flavor is sweet too, finish lightly bitter. Syrupy texture and soft carbonation.
2.2 cooked vegetables, yellow golden, clear, white foam, light sweetness, lightly bitter, light body, thin feel,
2.2 500 ml can picked up in Dakar, Senegal. Pours a clear gold color with a big creamy white head. Aroma is very malty, sweet fruit, bread and hay. Sweet fruity mouthfeel. Taste is malty, sweet, some tart hoppy and fruit.. Crispy malty medium palate. Finishes fruity and then nice bitter tart aftertaste. OK
2.8 33 cl. bottle. Clear, pale golden colour with a fizzy, white head that faded very fast. Fruity aroma with grains, grasses and light hops. Sweet and fruity taste with notes of hops and light malts. Thin to medium body with a lively carbonation and a short, fruity finish. A nice, drinkable pale lager.
2.8 Okay French blonde beer with decent head and a yellowish body. Aroma of hoppiness and bière de garde sugary sweetness. Flavour is the same, sugariness with a dry hoppy finish. Not a bad blonde, not a great one either.
2.6 Aroma and taste of grassy and dry hops and malt. Nothing special but drinkable!
2.0 Golden body, white head. Metal, malt, grassy hops, quite poor and leaves me cold.
2.5 Bottle. Clear golden with medium white head. Flavour is malt, little bitter, hops, little dry and a little sweet.
2.7 Can (33 cl) from VikingLine, marked as Jenlain Blonde. Fruity/wheaty. Pleasant on a hot summer night.
