Eagle Banana Bread Beer (Bottle)

Eagle Banana Bread Beer (Bottle)

Bottled: Filtered

2005 Recipe changed from 5.5% to 5.2%

Originally sold as Wells Banana Bread Beer - since 2018 branded as Eagle Banana Bread Beer.

This dark golden coloured ale hugs the palate with great intensity. Its malty aroma is complemented by the gentle nose of Banana. Its flavour unfolds with a sensual sparkle and a smart crispness, which balances its aroma perfectly. Tropically fruity; its ripe banana flavour, emphasised by a hint of bitterness, comes from the addition of real fair trade bananas and finishes with an emphatic, steely dryness.

3.1 Bottle - light tan with a decent white head which settles to small line. Strong banana aroma. Good mouthfeel - slight ting on tongue. Bitter malts with banana finish - ok drinking.
3.1 Bottle for home on 17.7.20. Pours dark gold with a malty aroma, and the bananas can certainly be tasted.
3.0 Another "Blimey, have I really not rated that yet?" one. Brown with an off-white foam and caramelly aromas of banana chews. Malty-sweet, bready and lightly toasty-dry bitterness, with a distinct though not overdone banana flavour. A novelty brew, but a perfectly decent one, and a better fruited beer than many modern crafty types.
2.5 0,5 l bottle from Vrutak, Zagreb as Eagle Brewery Banana Bread Beer. Shared with prof. Bekić. Clear golden, small off-white head. The aroma is intense banana bread, almost wouldn't call it fake. Flavour is sugary, malty and perfumy with banana candy taking over. Sweet. Light body, moderate to high carbonation, light finish. No base style preserved, only this fake flavour.
4.1 Lovely beer available in many UK suoeemarkets
3.5 Pours clear amber with a thick stable beige head, strong aroma of banana with and underline of grain, strong banana taste, a bit of bubblegum and a bitter finish
3.5 Bottle purchased at Wine, Beer, and Spirits shared with Mrs. Ozzy70. Poured clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of banana, banana taffy, malts, bready. Taste was sweet, banana, malty, banana bread.
4.1 Amber pour. Thick foam. Sweet banana nose. Total banana flavor with a nice banana palate
2.4 500ml bottle from local Morrison's. Pours clear amber with a cream head. Aroma: malt, synthetic banana. Taste: light to moderate sweet & bitter, malty, more of that synthetic/chemical banana 'taste'. Medium body with light carbonation.
2.8 500ml bottle from Asda, Burgh Heath. Aroma of malt and banana. Banana Angel Delight taste. Bittersweet finish. If you like banana you’ll like this. It’s beer Jim but not as we know it.
3.6 A bday present
3.8 Pours amber color thin head smells like it’s name banana bread taste of banana bread malts nice taste
3.1 500ml glass bottle from local corner shop in Hagley for £1.50. Served having been in refrigeration for about an hour into a chalice style glass. The beer is dated as best before 31/07/2021. As other reviewers have mention my bottle is labelled as The Eagle Brewery, not Wells. The beer pours a dark amber colour with a one and a half finger white frothy head. Slow to dissipate with a nice thick lacing. The beer with crystal clear. On the nose the beer is dominated by one thing, dried chewy banana. The kind that is, indeed, found in banana bread. Medium sweet with nothing else. The beer follows on taste. Chewy sugary dried banana. Very mild malt. I don’t detect any other flavours. I really feel the beer is missing a heavier deeper malt presence and some spice. Thin in the mouth. A very light malt note on the palate albeit short lived. A nice beer but one that could be much better. More malt and some spice or nutty quality is needed.
3.2 I like bananas. I like bread. And obviously I like beer. So this should be a no-brainer - and it's actually not too bad. Pours clear amber with a frothy white head, and a big sweet banana aroma, confectionery-like. The banana is muted somewhat in the taste, compared to the aroma, and sits atop a sweet, malty backbone, with a fizzy lager-like mouthfeel
3.2 Bottle from Asda. Now Eagle rather than Wells on label. Pours amber with fizzy head, no retention or lacing. Banana and malt aroma. Taste is banana bubble gum (certainly more confectionary than fresh), malt, bread. A decent body and carbonation holds the beer together. This is an unusual, confectionary banana fruit flavoured brew but nonetheless reasonably tasty and the beer elements hold strong enough to make it work. However I don't like it enough to recommend it to anyone or buy it again.
3.4 Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical. Chemical but nice enough.
3.5 Pours a clear, amber coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smells of biscuity, grainy malt, banana and herbal hops. Taste is a good balance between biscuity, grainy malt, some toffee, banana and herbal, slightly spicy hops. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some banana and herbal hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel wirh a medium body and carbonation. This actually turned out better than I expected, with neither the banana nor sweetness being overbearing or cloying and actually feeling somewhat subtle, while the grainy malt, herbal hops and light bitterness come through rather nicely here, providing a good balance.
2.9 50 cl bottle (BBD 2020-04-30), bought On the Go Food and Wine (Old Brompton Road, London), drunk at home 2020-04-01. Appearance is a crystal clear medium amber with a moderate thickness off-white head that sticks around a long time, probably due to the relatively high level of carbonation. Pretty decent, even if I'm slightly surprised by the carbonation. Aroma is strange. Big banana hit up front (as you'd expect from the name), with a big whiff of alcohol and some brown bread beneath that and maybe a touch of wood. The banana is so strong it's a little off-putting, but I don't know what I should have been expecting if not that, so won't dock it points. Not bad, just odd. Taste is also weird, and not quite as nice as the nose. You get banana and honey up front, giving it a big sweetness, before a little bit of dry bitterness comes through. But there's a real artificial banana tang on the finish. Palate is extremely meh. Light-bodied with almost no carbonation in the mouth. Clean and quite refreshing and a very short finish. Sort of matches the beer, but a little more something wouldn't have gone amiss. Overall, this is a really bizarre beer (which is mostly why I bought it). The banana's less off putting than I expected, but it does have a real artificialness in the finish that spoils the beer quite a lot. I think I'd be willing to try this again, but would have to be on a nice summers day as part of a selection of fruit beers, as that's almost what this is.
3.3 Creamy off white head stayed on a slowly carbonating dark amber coloured body. Banana & light malt aroma. Medium bodied, sharp on the tongue with soft back. Faint malt, banana & bubbly gum tastes with a sweet finish. I'd struggle drinking more than one.
3.5 Quite a unique bear A little on the heavy side Notes of banana Available in bottle
2.8 Színe szép borostyán. Megfelelően szénsavas, élesztős , banános illat. Íze halvanyan banános, de főként kenyér szerű jegyeket hordoz
3.4 Bottle in Kent Ohio. Slight scent of banana. Dark yellow almost brown in color. Taste some banana and mostly bread notes. Pretty smooth and easy to drink. Has banana aftertaste. Would drink again. Cheers!
2.6 Vaze ez tényleg banános Nagyvonalakba: színe pisinek sötét, polotmavynak világos Habja korrekt, nagyüzemi de legalább lacingel. Íze banános szirup, az a csokis kiflis, tudjátok...

3.1 W aromacie, a także w posmaku przeważają nuty bananowe, poza tym delikatna goryczka, całkiem pijalne.
3.9 Intense banana aroma. Copper color. Sweet, malty banana bread taste. Some bitter hops at the end with a toasted bread, nutty, and dry finish.
2.5 Pours deep amber with off-white head and lacing. Banana aroma with bready malt. Bready malt with banana. Finishes fairly dry with some bitterness. Medium body.
4.1 A very interesting combination, maybe even one of the better ones I've tried. I wasn't optimistic when I should have tried it, but by the first sip I made sure I was wrong. Any recommendation.
