3.4 2012.09.16 - bottle 75cl - orange coloured beer, creamy head. You smell and taste the sweet prunes. Likeable beer.
2.5 750 ml bottle. Pours an orange brown with medium persistent head. Funky dough/yeast, wet basement aroma - not very appealing. Coppery dried fruit taste with additional flavors of malt, chalk, and a bit of cheese. Not for me...
3.4 330ml Bottle - Dark brown/red with a haze. Fruity and ever so slightly smoky aorma with notes of raisins and fruit. Fruity, sweet and slightly tangy taste with notes of plums and fruitcake.
3.1 Bottle. Poured a clear dark brown color with orange light shining through. The head consisted of thin soap bubbles. Distinct caramelized brown sugar, raisin, and dates in the nose. Medium bodied and sweet with lower carbonation. Flavors followed aromas.
3.5 Head: white, small Colour: hazy blond Smell: sweet, malts, petals, eau d’ orange , bit yeasty Taste: rose petals, yeast, malts, citric, overall tripel with roses/sweetness added , but good !
3.3 Pours a hazy golden brownish color. Aromas of mild berries, wheat bread, and a touch of hops. Flavor is a nice balance of soft fruit flavor with malts and a crisp dry finish. I’m not big on fruit beers, but this one has a subdued flavor, not over the top.
3.6 Cloudy prune juice colored pour. Large white head that is quick to subside and leaves a small amount of lacing. Fruity aroma mixed with a yeast smell. And a bit carbonic. Sweet mouth, with a pefumy aftertaste. Decent beer. Like a Saison with prunes. Or more along the lines of plums.
2.8 Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours murky amber/brown with fizzy beige head. Aroma is medicinal, some funk, prune, vegetable. Flavor is much the same. Light body, fizzy carb. Overall, didn’t care for it.
3.0 Hazy amber colour with a big off- white head. Sweet proune aroma. The taste has a slight vintage touch to it. It is fruity and a tad bit too sweet.
3.8 750mL corked bottle. Poured ruby brown with pinkish hues when held up to light, smell of dried prunes, caramel malt and light aroma hops, taste of dried prunes, sweet malt, and some alcohol. Too complex for me to accurately describe all that is there.
3.4 75 cl bottle. Rated on 4.10.2008 Sweetish aroma has plums and cherries. Flavour is a bit sweetish too and it has plums and sweet malt. One weird brew, I’d say. 7+3+6+3+13 = 3.2 75 cl bottle vintage 2008? @ Timo A, BBE 2011? Aroma is sweetish with aged raisins and toffee. Flavour is sweet with lots of sugar and raisins. Also some toffee. Not very fruity, feels like a typical Belgian strong. Leathery palate. Surprisingly well preserved. 7+3+7+3+14=3.4.
3.6 Plum beer doesn’t really sound like a delicacy, but this is in fact good! Sweet flavour, works better when not so chilled. Might end up on my Xmas beverage list.
3.7 750 ml bottle a red brown colored beer with a white head aroma fruits some sourness spicy and caramel flavor fruits plums spicy and caramel
3.9 Sour lambic barnyard aromas. Has the depth and bitterness of prune, mixed with some raspberry sourness and sweetness. 1st glass was very smooth. 2nd glass the sourness started to get to me. Ultra-fine carbonation gives it a silky smooth texture and allows for easy sipping.
3.9 Bottle, shared with Jeff. Hazy deep medium amber with a thick, clingy puffy golden head. Aroma is plummy fruit with spicy nuances and musty yeast. Flavours of tart plum fruit, subtle spices and yeast, and light Rainier cherries. Mouthfeel is incredibly soft and silky. Finish is sweet, but there is a light tartness that keeps things from becoming cloying. More complex than I’ve done it justice, and more enjoyable than I anticipated. If I could get more of this I would!
2.5 A fruit beer made with prunes. Not quite sure Worf would call it a warrior’s drink.
3.4 Bottle from 16th St. Liquor in West Vancouver. Poured a hazy light brown with a small head. Aroma of sugar and fruit, though I had a hard time identifying it as prunes. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavours of sugar, prunes, yeast and bread. Finish is so-so. Decent but not outstanding.
4.0 Berry fruits and alcohol in the nose. Dark and slightly rose colour. Quite complex scent. Flavor has a fruity start that becomes rounder and the sweetness dies away just before it becomes too much. Dark malts and plum linger slightly before a clean finish. I normally avoid fruit beers, but this is quite appealing.
2.0 Otown Throwdown III> Shared by KP. Pours a medium clear amber with violet highlights, and a thinning hed. Aroma is prune juice, metallic, salt, plastic phenols, harsh fermented and distilled grapeskins- cognac and grappa, earthy woody and mineral. Flavor is flowery, grassy, overly ripe prunes, fruity all around, slight oxidation, plastic, wood and an astringent and metallic finish- I did not like this.
3.2 Dark copper-amber with a light lasting foam. Aroma of yeast, plums and cheesecake. Sour fruit flavour with a dustiness to the palate. Like a plum Duchesse without the same joy but with a cheesecake residue in the aftertaste and some bark-like bitterness.
3.8 Bottle: Ruby rad color. Intensive sourly aroma, notes of vinegarm citrus. Flavor is light sweet, candies, followed by a souris, fruity flavor of immature plums or sour cherries. Dry, hoppy finish. Intensive fruity and sourish beer.
4.7 I am sucker for any beer brewed with prunes, plums, raisins, dates or figs. These fruits add such an awesome flavor to beer. They kind of turn a beer style into a Dubbel with a bit more sweetness. If you are like me. go get this beer! Sweet dark fruit aroma this is gonna be good. Great caramel brown color with prune sediment floating throughout the beer. Before I opened the beer I saw a lot of floaters so I vigorously shook up the beer to break up the sediment. Damn this is is a great beer and has a rating lower than it deserves only because a few morons have tried it.
3.9 Bottle sampled at Dunbar Liquor Boutique, pours hazy dark amber. Aroma and flavour of strong plums, with a noticeable but well-incorporated alcohol kick at the end. Well-refined fruit beer.
3.7 750 c&c from Pizza Port Bottle Shop. Pours hazy, dark red tinged amber. Aroma of fresh plums. Medium body with mild carbonation. Unfortunately the fresh plum aroma tastes more towards prune juice. Interesting stuff, and I think I will work into full enjoyment. Finishes somewhat towards bitter. Good experience.
3.3 Geeking out in the full effect, this one took place in the lounge amongst the good people of the area that contains the brains of those that are sweet! Drank well, but yah, just not very interesting. The prune business was a pretty odd, but interesting blend into this guy. Got it for half off, worth a shot, better than I expected!
3.5 Bottled 0.75L. Mild slightly sweet malty nose. Slightly syropy taste with some hints of raisins. Pale thin head.Brownish slightlyhazy colour. Sweet taste of prunes and raisins. Mild hops.
3.9 750, corked and baled. Pours a very murky dark purple, near gray. Dense, creamy, fairly fizzy tan head. Sweetish nose of coconut and banana, if that makes any sense. Mild brown bread undertones. Airy medium body with plenty of lively carbonation. Drinks very light, just evaporates on the tongue. More coconut and banana notes on the mid-palate, seems to have no prune essence at all, really, but very well-constructed light flavor profile. Mild finish. This is a great food accompaniment, and could easily be served before or after dinner as well. Very flexible and understated, beautifully made.
2.6 750 ml bottle. Nearly opaque copper color, off-white head. Fruity alcohol-filled aroma. Sweet fruity flavor with a hint of sour tang. Full body, medium carbonation. Too sweet for my taste.
2.7 Bottle. Made with ’prunes d’Agen’, hmm just got back from Agen. Didn’t like it much, didn’t like this beer much. So prunes in French are plums??? If so, there are a lot better beers with plums added than this. And it tastes like I would imagine proper prunes to taste like. Like all bran poo. I don’t need help in that regard, I’m pretty regular. Tastes of aluminium, dark fruits and malts. Not for thanks, maybe it’s just me.
3.8 Thick, cloudy brown pour with lots of floaties, moderate beige head with pretty good retention. Nose develops a bit of wild yeast funk that I think must come from the plums, Demerara sugar and a bit of rich wet earth. Flavor goes heavy on the plums, which I liked, and is slightly boozy. Finish is brief and slightly earthy. Good full mouthfeel with a bit of warm booze and pleasant, even carbonation. Liked it. Keep meaning to point out to Mark that "prunes" in French are plums, though, but close enough...agree with him about the sourness though I found it on the nose.
