Edge Powerplant

Edge Powerplant

The very first beer we ever brewed, in winter, before we had full power supply, hence the name. It’s a Belgian classic fermented at high temperatures to bring out all those great saison yeast characteristics. Big aromas of fruit and spice carry through into the flavor. The result is hearty and complex, yet wholly drinkable.

3.7 Bottle @ Belmont Party Supply / Dayton OH --- Aroma of caramel malt. Hazy dark amber, frothy white head that finally drops to a full cover, thick cobwebs of lace. Taste is caramel malt, light carbonation, and just a hint of sour in a lightly buttered finish. Doesn’t seem like a Saison, but quite good none-the-less.
3.3 CBC2015, Pours orange with a small head, aroma of fruits, caramel, flavor of fruits, caramel, bitterness, medium bodied
3.1 Huh, saison? Whatever. Bottle. Clear amber color with tiny white head. Aroma - Grass, fruit, malt, candy. Taste - Lightly bitter, light sweetness, lightly sour, caramel, hay, berries, brown sugar.
3.0 Bright bronze colour with a large, bubbly head. Clear. Aroma is some grass and tangerine. Taste is quite spicy. Far too carbonated.
3.8 0,33l bottle from Beer Geek Bar, Prague, Pours almost clera golden to peach amber liquid, small frothy white head, Aroma: nice Belgian spicy phenolic, wheat, apricot, malty, light caramel, Taste: light to medium sweet, medium bitter, light to medium sour, spicy, phenolic, apricot, grapes, caramel, exotic herbs, Palate: medium body, soft to average carbonation, slick mouthfeel, long bitter spicy aftertaste, Overall: very good, enjoyed.
3.4 Bottle @ home. Slightly unclear reddish color, full sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, a hint of grapepeel. Taste malts, some brett, grapepeel and slight tart. Hmm on the one hand ok but on the other hand I don’t really like it.
3.0 Draft at Edge, RBESG 2016. Clear amber with a medium white head. Aroma of light peppery saison yeast, malt, light fruits and caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. [08-07-2016]
2.9 Sample @ Voldby Ølfestival 2016. Pours hazy golden with a medium white head. Notes of yeast, esters, grass, floral, grapes, pears, apples.
3.4 Farven er en uklar lys rav med en megastor hvid skumkrone. Aromaen er hø og citrus medens smagen er sødlig tyggegummi og gær.
3.3 Sample @ Voldby Ølfestival 2016. Hazy golden pour with a generous head. Notes of yeast, esters, syrupy sweet, some grains and some overripe pears.
3.4 Half pint on keg at Jessop House. Pours an orange-amber with a medium off-white head. Grassy and citric aromas, some summer fruit. Similar flavors, a little sharp, some sweetness and some bitterness.
3.5 Red amber colour. Aroma has some candy and red fruits as does the flavour. Very smooth
3.5 Caramel malty nose with some spice and phenol and a touch of mustiness. Pours dark golden, cloudy with thick, persistent beige foam that clings to the glass. Strong grassy hop bitterness, though dry. Sharp on the tongue, medium body, light fizz, and slightly slick. Strong bitter hop / alcohol finish. Hops and malt are well-blended, but they leave the yeast behind. Very much like a saison / IPA hybrid.
3.5 On tap at Hopaholic, Budapest. Nose is fruity, honey. Body is opalescent amber, head is small, offwhite, frothy, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma is leaves, caramel. Light sweet, medium bitter. Finish is long lasting hoppy medium bitter. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Quite easy, surprisingly hoppy, nice bitter, not really a saison.
3.1 Orange body with a foamy head that gushes over and over. Aroma starts with endless grass fields, then gives way to candied malt and fruit notes. The body too starts off with green grassiness, then yields to candy malt and citrus fruitiness. Re-rated 8-14-20: Amber orange body, with poofy foamy head that again gushes over. This time the aroma is more grainy, with candy and fruit notes. So too the body is grainy and candy malt. Very sweet.
3.4 12 oz bottle pours Amber with a white head. Aroma of yeast, funk, fruit and wood. Taste is fruity, spice, grains and funk.
2.1 On tap at hopaholic. Clear orange colour, almost no head. Nose is grainy. Taste is low sourness. Stick mouthfeel. Not very outsanding.
2.3 0.33l bottle @ Una. The most over carbonated beer I’ve ever seen this. A few drops in the glass equals a massive foamy overflow of near everlasting off-white foam. Just ridiculous without being funny. Really wanted a beer now, but I won’t be able to drink this is quite some time. What a shame. 4 minutes later... It has a body also. Blurry and coppery orange in color. Smells like fluffy foam with yeast, grapes and alcohol. Kinda sweetish also. Like the aroma. It’s massively over carbonated and it doesn’t really taste any good either. Old and earthy lots of dust and soil. Really sweet in the taste. Sweet and yeasty alcohol. Tried swirling the bottle a little and the foam gushed, almost hitting the roof top. Crazy over carbonated. Too bad. 13.11.2015
2.8 RBESG 2016 in Barcelona. On tap at the brewery. Amber colour. First reaction: What the hell is this? Sourish, malty, medium hoppy. Hardly a saison in my book, anyway. Not great.
1.8 BB 11.06.17, ABV 7.4% (from UJH?). Pours amber with off-white head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is rotten fruits, sourness, diacetyl, floral notes. Flavor is sour, sweet and bitter, fruits, more diacetyl, grass. Finish is bitter, some caramel, diacetyl and a ton of alcohol. Overall: this is really bad (maybe a bad batch/bottle?!). I would prefer average macro lager instead.
3.4 Tap at the brewery. Caramel, spicy Belgian yeast, dried peach, fresh cut wood, resin, lots of green leaves, cardboard, unripe berries. Light sweet and sour and medium bitter. Medium bodied. Again not a typical saison, but interesting nonetheless.
3.4 330ml bottle at Koht. Amber colour. Thin white line of froth around the glass. Caramel, hints of currants or raw gooseberries, flowery notes in the aroma. Caramel, some sweetness at first. Brown sugar, flowery notes in the middle. Slightly sour finish. Hints of berries. Slight alcochol and hints of spices in the aftertaste. Rather medium bodied, medium carbonated, averagely balanced saison. Does not have that crispiness and refreshing touch. But there are some interesting sides as well.
3.3 Hazy orange, foamy white head. IPA nose, pineapple, passion fruit. Sweet, round, bitterness in the aftertaste. The sweetness and colour resemble a saison, the rest is IPA. Still tastes good.
3.4 330 mL bottle at St Veronus. Dark, rusty orange with a small tan head. The aroma is very fruity, some sour, some sweet. Some earthy hops and bitterness at the end. Interesting.
3.9 33cl bottle, pours a slight hazy amber/golden with frothy white head. Aroma is fruity, slightly sour, and yeast, typical of a saison. Taste is an intricate balance balance of sweet and tart, with some spice and pepper notes present. Medium body, medium to high carbonation, with a dry bitter finish.
3.1 At my home along with Yves amber coloured body with a white head and a spicy fruity hop aroma a spicy yeast hop fruity bitter sweet taste with a slight bitter finish
2.9 Shared with wim at his home. Clear amber colored beer with small white head and only few carbonation. Hopped vegetable aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is hopped sweet bitter.
3.6 Draught sample at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2015. Clear amber liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of white pepper, red berries, grain and bread. Taste is dry and light bitter with notes of white pepper, floral hops an grain. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Decent but forgettable.
3.0 (tap 0,25l @ BeerTemple (Amsterdam)) Aroma: Sourish, tart. Appearance: Hazy, dark golden color. All time, white head. Taste: Medium sweet, light sourish. Palate: Medium body. Dry finish. Overall: Sourish saison.
