3.5 355ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Rating from April 2014. First beer from Eel River was a good one with a deep amber colour and plenty of malt.
2.5 It has the amber color, but not quite the Amber taste. Still, slightly better than average.
3.0 Sample from a bottle left by the rep at Boulders on Broadway. Pours a clear, bright orange-amber color with a ring for a head. Notes of amber and caramel malts, mixed fruits, leaves, and sugars. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet mouthfeel. Very plain amber.
3.0 Bottle: Pours red-orange with a tall, heavy, vanilla head. Aroma is sweet caramel, butter..... Taste is pretty much the same.....malty, sweet, with a light earthy hopping. Creamy with a bit of a tart tanginess in the end. A little weak-bodied, but still pretty decent.
3.5 Clear amber w/ off white frothy head. Aroma is of butterscotch. Light carbonation and Nice body throughout. Flavor is strong caramel/toffee/butterscotch/vanilla. Nicely balanced hop character. Creamy like palate. Very nice organic brew!
3.2 Acquired from hayduke, thanks Ron! It poured a dark amber color with a white head. The aroma was malty with some roasted notes and caramel. The taste was somewhat sweet with some bready notes and it finished very smooth.
2.7 65cl bottle from Beers Of Europe shared with Steve.Amber pour with medium sized white head which faded quite quickly.Caramel aroma with some hints of citrus.Taste of caramel malt with a little hop at the end.
3.5 Could just be my love for ambers, but the nose on this organic amber is distinctly rich, offering up abundant caramel. This amber does not have huge depth, but presents well and bears the hallmarks of refreshing clean flavor to be expected of the variety.
2.3 Thin copper pour, what head? Very muted malt nose. Sweet on the tongue. Very light body, thin malt taste through the middle. Where are the hops? Slight bitterness at the end (carbonation or hops, I cannot really tell).
2.7 650ml bomber pours a pale amber color with a good sized white head that fades quickly leaving very little lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel with grassy notes and mild citrus. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with some grassy hop bitterness and a cider-like finish. Light to medium bodied with decent carbonation. As far as ambers go, I have had many better than this one. Not Recommended.
2.7 Aroma is mildly sweet malts and a hint of tea and spring water. The flavor is sweet malts, tea and a mildly tart fruit finish.
1.8 Decent amber ale, nothing special. Has a slight citrus flavor, but overall kinda dull.
2.5 7/26/12. 22oz bomber from Grassroots. $4 bomber? I’ll bite. Hazy amber (go figure) pour with a nice khaki head, but it’s gone too fast and doesn’t lace much. Huge caramel in the aroma, bordering on toffee, with lots of tea as well. Sweet caramel and candy sugar in the flavor with bits of a burnt caramel aspect and lots of tea. There’s a lingering green aspect with that burnt caramel as well. I’m not sure it was worth the $4. Oh well - tickers gon’ tick.
2.4 21st August 2010 Hazy amber beer. Little white head. Light minerals and malt nose. Light palate, crisp and dry. Dry minerally malt. A dash of citrus orange catches the back of the tongue. Finishes well over dry! Too dry and dull.
2.8 Decent amber. Nothing special about it other than the fact that it’s organic.
0.7 Unclear deep copper, foamy off white head fades. Sour citrus aroma and taste, some faint subdued caramel malts. Low hopped, average carbonation. Gah, this is sour! Must’ve gone off. No best before date. Drainpour. NFA (Nor For Anyone)
2.8 Pours a deep reddish brown. Aroma is of cider and malt. Taste is caramel up front with a touch of cider replaced by peppery hop bitterness in the finish.
2.1 red amber color, light head, no lace. This may be organic, but that doesn’t make it good. It isn’t skunky, but I suspect it might be a little old. Taste moves right to a buttery off-sweet malt with sour bittering. I am not impressed.
2.8 Pours a clear copper with a large white head. It has an aroma of hops and spice. A mild of bitter with a light sweet taste. A light to medium body with a thin texture and slight bitter finish. Nothing special, but I wouldn’t mind drinking it on occasion.
2.6 Best organic I’ve had. It looks great and the aroma is slightly above average, but the taste is a little forced and uninspired. Not too sweet though; big plus.
3.5 Dark amber color at pour medium head and head retention. Aroma of caramel and some malts, flavor was more caramel and finish was slightly sweet. One of the better versions of this style I have ever had.
3.0 From a bottle poured a dark amber color with a small amount of head. Malty flavor with a quick finish.
3.7 This organic beer pours really cloudy and keeps the trend going with a creamy mouthfeel. I really enjoyed the full body taste with the amber beer.
2.6 Somewhat hazy golden amber with a minimal head and little lacing. Subtle floral hops aromas with a hint of caramel malt. Flavors are similar, nothing really comes through too strongly. Light to medium body, light caronation, and a sweetish finish. Kind of a disappointment from this brewer.
2.7 Bomber from Utobeer. Hazy reddish amber colour with lasting thin beige head. Crystal malt on aroma. Sweetish. No where near as hoppy as I may have liked. In fact its a sweetish. crystal malt beer with not much hop at all. Disappointing.
2.1 Pours slightly hazy reddish amber; finger or less of off-white head. Smell is weak, a light, caramel malty sweetness; a bit of breadiness; a small, bitter hop presence. Taste is like a diminished version of the smell, with an unpleasant metallic flavor that gets quite a bit worse as the beer warms. Thin/medium body; moderate carbonation. I appreciate the idea of an organic beer, I really do, but this is simply not a very well done instance of one.
3.2 from Mondial de la Bière, Strasbourg - pours a cloudy amber-brown colour with no foam left; light aroma of toffee and orange; a solid carbonation, sweet and tart, medium-bodied and quite dry; notes of herbs and fruits in the finish - subtle
3.2 Hazy dark amber color; Medium creamy body; Aroma of malt, floral/earthy hops, & caramel; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel, hops, citrus, and some fruit; Finish is crisp; Overall, pretty good natural brew - somewhat underrated.
3.0 Bottled, 473ml from Bellingers Garage, Grove, Oxon. Amber with white head. Sweet caramel notes dominate with a peanut butter like background flavour. It remains sweetish throughout, which isn’t my bag really, nudging into the dull area of beers.
3.3 Bottle 22fl.oz. Clear medium amber color with a small average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, nutty - earthy, moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, yeasty, caramel, nutty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20101031]
