2.6 Bottle from Tres Bonne Cuisine. Color and pour about right for the style. Aroma is mostly malt, but reminds of wet paper and school paste. Taste is initially very sweet with some hints of malt and chocolate, but really tastes like cola. Finishes dry and sticky, with more of the cloying sweetness. Near miss.
3.0 500ml can at 5.5%. Pours dark reddy brown with a medium head. Aroma is coffee, caramel and dark red fruits. Taste has caramel to start. Dark red fruits in the finish with a little coffee in the aftertaste.
1.7 33cl Flasche. Dunkles Braun.
2.6 330ml bottle pours out a dark brown with a little ruby highlights topped with a tan head. Nose is nutty roast malt and some sweet chocolate. Taste is more of the nutty roast malt.
2.9 500ml can in Turkey. Canned 25.12.2014, BB 25.09.2015. brownish / red clear color, medium big off-white head. smells of caramel, fruits, light plums, raisins, light sweetness. medium body, soft carbonation, slick rather light mouthfeel. tastes malty sweet, caramel, very light roast notes, a bit glueish, lightly fruity, light pine notes. finishes with caramel, some sweetness and light fruit notes. decent enough, overall body is a bit too light and taste is a bit too sweet.
2.7 bottle. Pours a very dark brown with rapidly disappearing tan head. Malty aroma of molasses and brown sugar with some wheat. Flavor is predominantly sweet with some cereal and wheat notes. No complexity here, just mostly sweet. Not bad, but mediocre.
1.7 Clear bottle with dark brown lager. Foam passes quickly waning. Slightly synthetic malt and hops aroma in the background. The flavor is caramel and again a slightly synthetic flavor that reminds me of plastic or gum. Hoppy bitterness is long and not so bad, but on the whole it is not beer that impresses.
2.8 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a large foamy tan head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was malty molasses, a bit of nut, a bit of vegetal m alts and coffee candy. The flavor was malty molasses, dark fruit, a touch of red meat and coffee candy. Long molasses and red meat finish. Medium body. Ok.
2.4 33 cl bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a dark brown with a khakihead of foam. The aroma is grassy, skunky, and a touch roasty. The taste has sweet roast character, a bit of char, and then that skunky note comes through. Medium body and medium carbonation. All things considered, i think the beer would be better if it werent skunked. Maybe a draft pour would be more enjoyable.
2.5 On tap at a restaurant I can’t remember the name of in Istanbul. Pour is light brown with a medium white head that fades quickly. Aroma and flavor of biscuit, cereal grain, light malt, brown sugar, and stale hops.
3.1 Pleasant toasty bready Aroma. Appearance: brown, clear, tan foam, minimal head. Taste: a bit of disappointment compared to Aroma. lightly bitter, lightly sour, light sweetness. Palate: light body, thin feel, average carbonation, abrupt lightly bitter finish.
2.8 Dark beer like regular pilsener beer but black. Taste is little different than regular efes pilsen but not better
1.6 Dark clear and with a initial promising taste of liquorice and caramel. However the beer turns out too sweet and malty with a quite neutral palate.
2.7 Poured from bottle. Fairly strong aroma of dough and yeast. Pours a very dark brown. Mild taste, nothing really stood out. Light to medium body, oily texture. Average brew.
3.0 Pint pour from bottle of fairly dark brown with Amber notes at edging. Head is minimal and reduces to a halo with some spotting on top of the beer. Nose is sweet caramel and roasted nuttiness. Like roasted walnuts or hazelnuts... Almonds. Roasted almonds. Flavor is sweetly roasted caramel and mild spicy hop notes. Light to medium bodied but still full flavored. It’s not that bad, even if I don’t love the style. It’s moderately sweet, a little maybe for my taste.
2.0 Dark brown appearance, not that big of a head Aroma/taste/palate of caramel and dark malts There is a weird sourness at the end, no sure why Too sweet, not bitter enough, and an odd beer to boot meh
2.1 dark caramel color, sweet caramel taste, thick foam, light body, thick texture, fizzy. Not my best beer, but pretty good for seaside.
3.0 330ml bottle. Pours dark reddish brown, not cloudy. Aroma of malts, sweet and roasty, but also boozy. Not bad for industrial... Hints of liquorice in the taste, otherwise quite boring. Bubbly finish.
3.3 Slightly caramel aroma. Lovely dark brown appearance. Treacly caramel undertones and not so fizzy for a bottle.
2.3 Butelka 0,33 w Turcji 2011r. Kolor ciemnobrązowy, piana śrsdnia szybko opadająca. Zapach słodowy z lekkim karmelem. Smak coli, wodniste czuc alkohol,słodkie, trochę karmelu. Nagazowanie słabe. Takie sobie.
2.8 Bottled, 0.33 l. (6.5% ABV on the label). Clear dark brown one with a small off-white head on it. Malty nose and aroma dominated by caramel and dough underpainted by brown bread, mouthfeel is somewhat thin. Warming, dry, mild roasty finish. Pleasant...
3.0 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a clear dark brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is nutty, caramel, with coffee notes. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. It’s ok.
2.0 Subtle aromas of metal, licorice, and cocoa. Clear dark ruby with a mostly vanishing off-white head. Malty sweet, faintly fruity, raisiny, woodsy, some coffee. Medium bodied, sticky.
3.1 Drank this one several times in 2012 and 2013. Out of the three Turkish beers I tried this was the best one. Caramel and roasted malt.
2.0 330 ml bottle. Appearance: Dark brown colour with a smallish head of finger light creamish. Retention is not that great, but for a Efes brew it looks good. Aroma:Sweetish malts, caramel, cola like, some rye. A bit to soft drinkish. Taste: Quite sweet watery thin, glucose syrup , A lot of malty tones you will find in a dark non alcoholic malr drinks (vitamalz ?), caramel and a bit of rye. Thin body, soft carbonation. Don’t kow what’s the idea behind this but, in an Islamic country why wouldn’t they make it like non alcoholic German Maltdrinks without alcohol, the taste is allmost the same and it could open up new markets.
2.5 7 euros at Istanbul airport pours a dark brown with reddish hues. 1 finger yellowish creamy head. Nose is sweet with caramel aroma some burnt malts, fig and watermelon. Butterscotch taste and some more fig, raisin and sweet bread. Standard lager but the dark malts do help a little bit. Certainly not a $10 beer.
1.7 330 ml bottle. At the İstanbul Atatürk Airport, Turkey. Dark brown colour. Sweetish malty aroma with rye and burnt non-alcoholic beer notes. The flavour is sweet malt, burnt malt, sugar and mild rye notes. Somehow the flavour is quite close to a non-alcoholic beer.
2.7 can @ home. Brown to dark copper color of the liquid and a light beige thick head with some nice lacing. Sweet aroma of toffee, plums, brown sugar, some milk chocolate and malt extract. Medium bodied with a smooth and oily texture, and medium carbonation. Sweet flavors of toffee, caramel, dark syrup and milk chocolate are replaced by a drier nutty finish with some coffee and lingering herbal hints.
2.7 Drunk from 33cl bottle at istanbul airport. Slightly sweet dark beer.
