2.3This was my beer back in the day, it´s hard for me to give it a bad rating. When I ever get the opportunity to get my hands on a six pack, I will!
2.0On tap. Pale yellow with small white head. Aroma is beer. Light body, touch of carbonation. Off dry flavor, some vague malt. Not too great.
2.0Goldene Farbe. Die Schaumkrone ist klein un kurzlebig. Der Geschmack ist anfangs ehre leicht und wässrig. Nach langen Warten ein wenig zitronig, dass war es dann aber auch.
2.7On tap at Blue Lagoon, Iceland. Pours an orange gold with a white head. Aroma: biscuity malt, sweet malt, yeast, mild lemon notes. Taste: sweet malt, yeast, lemon, grain, straw, mild funky flavours. Thin to medium bodied. A bit over carbonated. Easy to drink and not dreadful but not particularly good either.
2.6Can on Icelandic Air heading East. Pours bright gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is bready with a hint of spicy hop. Sort of medium body. Flavor is bready with a little spicy hop. Arguably tastier than Bud. I’ll drink it.
2.2From Nate: gold pour/white head. Sugary grain aroma. Smooth, sweet low taste. Not really grainy or bitter. Accordingly, nothing is too off in this... boring but refreshing.
1.9Bottle from Vinbudin, Reykjavik. Pours clear golden, topped with a medium sized, foamy white head. Mildly grainy nose, corn - typical stuff. Mildly sweet, quite corny. Medium bitterness to balance. Medicinal finish. classic macro lager.
3.3On keg at Salt, Reyjavik.
Appearance - golden with a decent head.
Nose - reassuring sweetcorn and green beans.
Taste - more corn, light citrus.
Palate - light bodied, dry through middle and end.
Overall - decent example of the style and appreciated at the time.
2.3On a WoW plane to Toronto 11/7 2018. 33 cl can bought on board. Golden and White Can with “Gull” Written on it with the same type of letters used for Nazi Movies. A lot of Medals from World Beer Cup, Australian Beer Awards and World Beer Awards.
Pours hazy pale yellow with very big white head. Very foamy. Settles as 4 cm thick blanket of foam. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is slightly on the Generic side. Sweet pale malts, sour notes. Grass. Saltiness.
Soft carbonation. On the verge of being flat. Thin, watery texture.
Flavor is fairly sweet followed by weaker bitterness. Aftertaste is lightly bitter and short.
I do not know what it takes to win an Australian Bronze but it does not seem to be very much.
2.0First beer in Iceland trip. Pint in Reykjavík. Standard lager taste, less metallic in taste though. Large head, little carbonation
2.4Draught at the Blue Lagoon. Pours a clear medium gold, with a moderate white head. Not too much in the aroma, maybe light citrus, grass and white bread. Mild citrus and grassy hops up front, white bread in the mid-palate, fairly clean finish. Not terribly exciting, but pretty damn good for a macro lager. Drinking it in a mineral-rich thermal pool probably helped!
2.2Light straw/gold color; Light to medium body; Aroma of hay/grain, & some cereal; Flavor of light malt, hops, and some citrus notes; Pretty bland overall but fairly refreshing.
2.60,33l can aboard Icelandair flight. Pours golden with medium sized white head. Malt and dryish bitterness. Average lager.
1.2Minimal taste and scent of malt. The same applies to the crop. No good beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
1.0A completely unremarkable beer that I could only compare to the averageness of the Australian Carlton Draught without some of the extra malty tastes. Watery, light zinginess which was completely underwhelming. Not a great introduction to Icelandic beer.
2.9Draft at the blue lagoon in Iceland. Easy drinking with a nice hoppier backbone the. Expected for a session. Pretty decent
2.3Draught at Kopar Restaurant, Reykjavik. Clear golden colour with a thin white head. Sweet aroma with grasses and pale malts. Taste is sweet. Medium body with a creamy texture and an average carbonation. Finishes dry and fruity with grasses and grains. Standard industrial Lager.
2.1From the plastic cup, somewhere in the sky above Greenland. Clear light gold with a foamy, white head that settles but lingers. Aroma is grassy, a bit artificial, like some sort of air freshener. Taste is mildly bitter up front, in an unsettling, industrial sort of way, turning sweeter and smoother in the finish, which is where the beer’s strength lays. Light bodied. Almost refreshing despite obvious flaws.
2.9Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is simple. Taste os really sweet with herbal notes.
2.1Gulbrun klar med fingerhøyt hvitt skum. Lukter korn, honning og lyst brød. Lett. Karamell, lett bitter sitrus og søtlig noe bitter brent karamell. Kort. Noe metallisk.
1.9Can on the airplane to Reykjavik to make me go to sleep off hours. It worked like overtime! Not too bad for a lager, either. Crisp finish and decent fresh water.
2.6Can at keflavik, iceland. Golden color, white head. Aroma has malts, some hoppy notes. Taste is malts, some hops, some fruity notes. Prettty pure lager.
3.2Keg at Kaffibarinn - Reykjavik. Pours clear yellow-gold with a foamy, white head. Crispy cereal in the nose, some straw, pale grains. Light sweet flavour with some further pale grains, cereal, low bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Pretty crisp on the finish, with further crispy cereal, pale bread, hay. Nice, easygoing cheap lager.
3.2Canned October 28, 2016, drunk 11/27/16 on WOW Airlines flight to Iceland.
Clear with a large white head showing moderate retention. Golden, well-carbonated.
Smells quite clean with mineral water, pleasant cereal character and light honey-like grains. Maybe a hint of metallic character, but very, very minimal. None of the major offenders here; DMS, diacetyl or acetyldehyde. Very light hint of grassy hops help lighten things and there is no alcohol or oxidation.
In the mouth it shows ample carbonation, not too obnoxiously fizzy with honey and mineral water. Lots of grain and light cereal with hints of pepper and grass. Clean, drinkable and refreshing. I quite enjoyed it. Maybe on the sweet side, but I didn’t find the malt sugars problematic.
2.7Can: The aroma consists of lightly sweet cereal notes, grass, and straw. It pours a transparent gold with a two finger white head that eventually fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with light sweet cereal notes. The finish has light-moderate grass with faint straw and lemon. It’s light bodied with moderate carbonation and a somewhat fizzy mouthfeel.
3.3Glass from tap, golden small head. aroma is grain. Taste is the same with some hops. average.
2.5Pours hazy yellow with low white head
Aromas of euro lager, citrusy dish water
Taste has watery notes of bready malts, herbs, slight citrus
1.8Can 500 ml. Golden and clean color. A bit spicy aroma of hops. Taste: slightly fruity, malt, even a little bit of hops, watery.
2.6Golden clear with vanishing head. Malty aroma with a hint of noble European hops. Delicate taste. Pretty ok for a lager.
2.6Where and how: c. 500 ml tasting
Aroma: medium intense, mild funk, herbal hops, golden malts. Not bad.
Appearance :
Top: large, white with lace on glass.
Base: gold, fine haze almost clear
Palate : medium bodied with thinner walls. Soft with soft carbonation. Fades quickly.
Taste: chalky, malty with hidden hops. Soft chalky finish.
