EKU 28

EKU 28

This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

3.5 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours dark amber/copper, with small frothy head, cloudy. Aroma: dark fruits, caramel, roasted malts, plums, bit of alcohol. Bitter taste with dry/alcohol aftertaste. Full body, long finish, flat. Strong, but nicely balanced. Reminds of a barley wine.

3.3 Can. It poured a brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of caramel malts and some barley. The tastes was similar to the aroma with more caramel malts, barley, dark fruits, alcohol with medium carbonation and a malty aftertaste.
3.4 $3.10 bottle, WW. Coppery, mild haze, tiny beige head. As I was smelling this I looked at the description: port... yes, it smells somewhat port-like. In addition, brown grasses and leaves and toffee. Flavor is caramel, booze, brown leaf, tree bark, toffee.
3.6 Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Clear amber body with a thin white head. Low carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of honey and resin. Flavour of raisin and prune. Medium to full body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Rich and boozy but lacks the depth and special quality of other beers I’ve had at this ABV.

3.0 Pours a deep brown with a crème head that leaves lacings. Aromas of caramel malt. Tastes sweet caramel malt, fig, prune and hints of the alcohol. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Not an easy one to consume, but one to sip. A grower.
3.7 Bottle pours out amber topped with a sand head. Nose is big sweet rich malts honey and a touch of hops. Taste is more of the nice sweet grain bread malts honey toffee.
3.1 300ml bottle from 101 Beers, drunk at home on a hot, sultry May evening. Pours clear garnet brown with a brief frothy head, minimal lacing but long-lasting, fast-rising carbonation. On the nose, sweet caramel and burnt honey with some floral nuances in the background. In the mouth, cloying sweetness from the first sip and throughout, gentle carbonation, mild bitterness, intense alcohol presence, flavours like the aromas, thick syrupy texture leading into a long, sweet mildly bitter finish. Not a brew for those on a low-dextrose diet, makes a good case for Belgian Strong Ales.
2.1 Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is sweet malt with warming alcohol, notes of ripe fruits and caramel, marzipan, syrup, more alcohol. Flavour is quite sweet and sugary, boozy and mildly bitter. Medium to full body, bit sticky. Not to my liking, way too boozy with a sticky sweetness.
3.6 Pours thick, almost oily, clear amber. Médium small, white. Fluffy head. Médium stability. Smell is medium strong, bit boozy, some caramel, honey sweetness. Taste is sweet, tad bitterness, caramel. Honey, Madeira. Fruity ( like a grape liquor) ends sweet, very malty. Médium carbonation, which is to the high side for this kinda beer. OK in general.
1.7 0,33l Flasche. Bernsteinfarben, wenig Schaum. Alkoholduft. Kräuter. Sehr süss, Alkohol, Kräuter, Malz, Melasse. Quatsch Bier!
3.2 Too sweet for my liking
Passable.
3.2 Bevuta in bottiglia più volte. Birra corposa e molto alcolica. Colore ambrato.
3.6 Bottle; too lazy to write a full review since this is my fourth beer tonight 🍻, this is a real mans lager, lots of melanoidin, maillard, bready background, big Munich malt base, very robust and drinkable, close to oxidized, tastes wood-aged, bit boozy, etc etc...not bad
3.5 01-AUG-2018, bottle in Mulazzo, from Interspar. Clear mahogany with a quickly dying tan head. Aroma is alcohol and caramel. Taste is caramel, alcohol, metal, dried fruit, and a little spicy hops. Very sweet, alcoholoc, bitter. I know... but I like it. It used to be the beer I could find in supermarkets in Italy 10+ years ago that actually tasted something. Today it is not all that interesting. But still I enjoy it.
3.5 From Decervecitas. In Teku glass. Reading Intro to Python Ch5. Althought the abv is fairly high and some alcohol is noticeable, it isnt enough to spoil it thanks to a pleasant caramel sweetness
4.1 Bought at Liquor Shed. It pours a mostly clear copper, has a small head of foam, produces good lacing. Smells sweet with caramel malt, brown sugar or maple syrup. Somewhat of a boozy aroma. Sweet but such a true Doppelbock, maple syrup and caramel oozing onto my palate. The alcohol brings some warming after the swallow but it's hidden pretty well in the taste. Bottle code doesn't make any sense so I don't know how old the 6pack is: 2730251. Close to full bodied, lowish carbonation. Excellent!!
3.3 Fles 33cl in Berlijn. Flink maltig, zoet, rood fruit, alcohol, brandy-achtig. Niet zoals zwaar bier. (2-2017).
3.4 Bottle from 8 Degrees Plato. Aroma is caramel, toffee, booze, sweet, lots of malt, slightly earthy, resinous. Appearance is amber brown, light brown head, mostly clear. Taste is caramel, dark fruit, booze, yeast, toffee, earthy hops, decent. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy body, light carbonation, boozy yeasty caramel aftertaste. Overall, it isn't bad because it is never sweet, but it's very hot.
3.0 Bottle/Fest. A- Caramel, malty, bready. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Malty, caramel, fruity. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- Kind of a malt bomb. Okay, but nothing really stands out. Didn't taste 11% though.
