This beer is a traditional English-Styled Oatmeal Stout using 10% flaked cold rolled oats. It has rich coffee flavors with mild cocoa tones. El Toro Negro has a smooth, mild bitterness, full body and is very drinkable.

3.6Tap. Pours opaque black with a large creamy brown head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is coffee and chocolate with notes of vanilla. Flavor its the same, medium sweet, subdued and well balanced. Creamy in the mouth.
3.7Bottle Black with a skin of a tan head. Dark roasted aroma with lots of tootsie roll, chocolate, cinnamon. Sweet roasted flavor and a thin body. More like a dark porter. Lingering slightly sour bitter bite.
2.6A simple stout. Ok flavor there is some maltiness but the drink ends in a disappointing wateryness. There is an initial impression which then disappears.
3.4Pours like old motor oil, bits of milk chocolate almost foam. aroma of coffee, molasses, diluted vinegar. smooth but a little thin in the mouth. the flavor had that Guiness tang, burnt toast, brown sugar, no hop taste but something must be holding back the sugar. clean finish
4.112 oz single from "Lifesource" S.Salem. $1.75
typical near black ( mahogany hint) beer with a lovelly frothy, thick tan head.
Creamy ,oatlike aromas..rolled Scottish oats.,coffee slightly roasted.
Very nice bitter coffee and cocoa nib flavours..again a roastiness that is pleasing.
Great palate to this one the oats add even more substance to an already luxuriant mouthful.
Overall a very nice stout and not too strong. I can see me buying a six pack next time.
3.612oz bottle, purchased up at Liquor Expo in Grenada. Pours a dark color color; modest, medium-tan head with solid lacing. Dark chocolate in the aroma along with a milky oat character and cocoa and cola; bittersweet and reasonably dry. Medium body; modest carbonation; plenty of bittersweet cocoa character throughout, and the oatmeal contribution gives this a very nice creaminess and smoothness overall; plenty of bitterness, but so much of that comes from the specialty-malt character (note: some of these are book notes to myself); quite drinkable, lots of cocoa and bittersweet chocolate, and this was absolutely perfect for drinking outside by our fire when we were camping. Medium-length finish of bittersweet chocolate, cocoa, a touch of milky chocolate; light toast.
4.3This is one of the best smelling beers I have had. Taste is typical, but still, very fine for average.
3.6(Draught) Pours a black body with a medium tan head. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, and anise. Flavor of coffee, cocoa, oatmeal, caramel, and roasted malt.
3.712 oz bottle from Bier Stein. Slightly opaque brown pour with a whiff of tan head and slight lacing. Smells sweet, like chocolate, cream and light coffee. Maybe a little caramel thrown in as well. Tastes fairly sweet as well, with a lot of chocolate backed by caramel, oats, cream and coffee. A well constructed stout, even if it is a little sweeter than I normally prefer.
3.8On tap at Nibblers. Pours almost black with a nice tan head. Smells smokey with some coffee. Tastes os chocolate, toffee, some coffee has some sweetness. Very smooth and drinkable.
3.7Baie Lekker! Bottle. Pours black with medium beige fast dissipating head. Moderate lacing. Cocoa and oatmeal aroma, with a tinge of coffee. Full but mild flavour, more cocoa and oatmeal. Sweet finish, but not cloying, there is enough bitterness.
4.2Very dark brown, thin head with light retention. Nice fruity & coffee aroma that transfers to the taste with a smoky finish. Medium - Thick body, with a bit of a syrupy texture and medium carbonation.
3.9Bottle, Brew 1372. Poured medium-viscosity deep brown with a yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up very sweet toasted cocoa, molasses, and vanilla with some oat backing.. a little char to darken it up.. very nice presentation. The flavor found rolled oats, molasses, and black patent maltage with lots of vanilla and come coffee bitterness around the edges.. toasty, sweet, and tasty. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate, despite the hefty sweetness present.. not quite as smooth a feel as I wanted, but mighty enjoyable aside from that!
3.2Dark pour with an off white head. Aroma is roasty and sweet with some grain. Flavor is malty with some bitterness.

Roast aroma. Beige head. Black smooth on the palate fruity and hoppy with a dry lasting burnt roast finish.
3.512oz. Pour is deep black with a small dark brown head. Aromas of roasted malts, slight chocolate, and coffee. Flavor is full of roasted goodness, coffee, and vanilla. The body was somewhat thin and watery in this guy. Drinkable but nothing too great.
3.6Thanks to JMFG. Great aroma coming out of this. Smoke, toasted malts and chocolates. Flavor is lighter than the aroma would suggest, but still good. More chocolate and toast.
3.912oz bottle. Opaque blackness, rusty orange-tan head that fades away into soapy patches after a few sips. Sweet chocolate aroma with a touch of pungency to it. Sweet and malty with a watery smooth finish, this is an awesome, sessionable example of a Sweet/Caribbean Stout, not really so much capturing the Oatmeal. Creamy and smooth, with lots of chocolate malt flavor.
3.6Very nice roasted aroma with licorice. The flavor is licorice, oatmeal, dark chocolate, and burned malts leading to a bitter finish. Pretty light bodied ,and lacking oomph (strange word to type) but otherwise, a nice stout.
3.7Draft @ Jacks Canery, SF. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Smooth roasted malty chocolate and licorice flavor. Has a smooth roasted malty licorice finish.
3.9This is a sweet stout in more than one way. Poured black with a small tan head. Coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt one the aroma and flavor. Smooth palate with low carbonation, incredibly drinkable.
3.7Dark brown/black, smooth, creamy, roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate, little coffee.
3.3Bottle.
Dark brown coloured with a small beige head.
Roasted aroma dominated by caramel with notes of coffee.
Roasted flavour of caramel and coffee with notes of hops.
Roasted finish.
3.6Tap @ Jacks, SF. Dark color, short head. Aroma of roasted malt, some coffee. Decent creamy stout taste, some coffee and roasted malt again. Quite likeable.
3.5Bottle. Black pour with a tiny burnt brown head. Aroma is semi-sweet chocolate, roasted malt and creaminess. Flavor is exactly the same, lightly roasted, mostly sweet throughout.
3.4Tasted @ the Jacks Bar in The Cannery in SF.
Black colored brew. Creamy, sweet and roasted malts.
3.6Bottle. Black colour with a tan head. Aroma is roasted, smoked, fruit, coffee. Flavour is roasted, smoked, fruit, coffee, chocolate. Nice beer.
3.7Nice stout. Black pour with a creamy head. Aroma is charred with malt as the predominant feature. Taste and mouthfeel is very creamy. Finishes with a black coffee bite.
3.6Bottle. It looks just nice in the glass, next to black and withouth sediments, and a tiny head. The aroma is sourish at first, with cocoa, sweetness, chocolate and some roasted malt following. It’s too sour in the mouth, with burnt malt and a little fruityness, and that continues into the finish. A bit thin body, but ok for a 5.5% ABV beer. I looks really nice and smells nice, but the rest of the beer isn’t special. Overall though, it’s a really good one. (080411)
3.4Bit of this and that, very faint dark fruit note incliding prune or plum. Creamy like a decent outmeal. Roasty and burnt. Did not come together for me.
