4.0 Cask pint at The Hope, Carshalton. Pours dark brown black with a beige head. Aroma of chocolate. Taste of black treacle. Initially sweet finish with some bitterness.
4.3 Pure silk in a glass. It has a fruity taste and chocolate in there. Quite strong so don’t have too many ( for a disclaimer ;)). Really this is one of two best porters that I have ever had and is certainly worth a try. This is up there for one of the best ales out there.
3.7 Cask: Black head stayed well on still dark body. Big roasted aroma of chocolate & coffee. Medium body. Sharp. Dry tastes of roasted, nutty & dark bitter fruits.
3.2 Cask. Jet black with Ruby light shining through. Thick tan head. Slight chocolate on the nose. Light chocolate on the taste. Maltiness. A little honeycomb. Very tasty.
3.4 Cask@Beer Hunters. Opaque brown color, small steady beige head. Toasted caramelly aroma. Medium-bodied. Toasted, chocolaty with hints of tobacco. Bitterness in the aftertaste. Decent cask porter.
3.7 Cask. Aroma richly malty. Pours dark brown with thin lace. Taste is roasted, toasted caramelized malts that play beautiful off pale malt and hops for the bittersweet effect that has earned this so many accolades.
3.7 Cask at Black Door. Black color, beige head. Bitter taste with roasted malts, hops, coffee, chocolate, nuts, dark fruits and a bit of wood. Bitter finish with roasted malts, hops, coffee, nuts, chocolate and a bit of dark fruits. Excellent porter.
3.6 Cask w The Old Harker Chester.Czarny kolor z delikatnym rubinowym refleksem. Piana mala bezowa o kremowej konsystencji. Subtelny aromat kawy i czekolady. W smaku rumowo-rodzynkowy z kawowa i czekoladowa nuta. Delikatny i niezbyt gorzki.
3.9 From cask. Pours black with latte coloured thin head. Aroma of chocolate and raisins. Smooth, silly taste. Coffee and roasted malts, coffee, not too bitter
3.7 En fût "real ale" au Paramount à Manchester. Très rond en bouche. Mousse très onctueuse qui nappe le verre. Robe noire opaque. Goût de torréfaction amère. Bonne bière dans le style, mais rien d?exceptionnel.
3.4 Sampled @ GBBF Day 2. Opaque black color, small beige head. Smell and taste malts, soft roast, liquorice, a slight sweet touch, slightly caramel and brown sugar as well with -eventually- a light malt bitter finish. Not bad, solid porter.
3.7 Gbbf. Sehr dunkel orange braunes Bier. Geruch süß schokoladig malzig, karamellig. Geschmack sehr röstmalzig, schokoladig, rote reife Früchte, leicht alkoholisch.
3.6 Lukt: Kaffe, bek og sjokolade. Utseende: Sort. Skum/kullsyre: Tynt skum. Smak: Kaffe, lakris og mørk sjokolade. Hvor: 27 th Ealing Beer Festival. Medium: Tapp@175ml, ABV@6,5%, Når@08.07.2016
3.5 Glorious at the Wigan Beer Festival, no wonder it has been beer of Britain! Complex sugars behaving like molasses wild fire. Full on and testing taste buds that you would expect from the hop combo. Gentle heat like warm trade winds to finish. A classic, still brilliant!
3.4 Rated to 07.01.2016. cask@gallows. Black. Some sweet licorice, dark malty nose. Med bodied, thinner than expected. Soft charcoal, some dark cola, dry licorice. Malty, smooth. Tasty. -- bb

3.7 Backlog rating. Cask at JDW CW, London. It pours a dark brown color with small tan head. Aroma is rich coffee notes, cocoa, roasted malts. Taste is also rich and lightly sweet with milk chocolate, caramel, cocoa and light espresso. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, very nice
2.8 Cask at IMBC 2015. Ruby black beer with a thin, cream-coloured head. The lots of dark chocolate and light coffee notes in a nose that’s a little overbearing. The taste has plenty of bitterness, with coffee and milky chocolate flavours, with bitterness continuing onto a finish that evokes marmite. Nice, smooth mouthfeel. This was recommended by another drinker as "the best dark beer I have had in my life" by I was rather underwhelmed.
3.7 Great porter, good coffee and chocolate notes on the aroma, and creamy mouthfeel, but enough of a bitter finish to make it relatively easy drinking for its abv.
3.9 On cask lovely underlying roastiness sweet without being cloying cherry tobacco earthy hints Tried again great coffee and chocolate mix
3.6 Cask at the GBBF 2015 after my iPod battery died but I have photographic evidence from my digital camera that I had this beer... Dark black like black coffee with wisps of tan foam around the edges. Smooth mouthfeel giving roasted coffee, chocolate and sugary/molasses sweetness. Good stuff but by this point I was definitely the worse for wear.
4.0 served in straight pint glass , cherry tree (jdw), huddersfield. Packed with esspresso and liqorice flavours , thick dark beer with creamy head, roasted aroma, a beer to sip and savour , in a word , awesome .
3.6 Tried at the Lincoln beer festival 2015. Black colour with a beige head. Aroma of coffee, and chocolate with roasted malt and fruit. Taste is similar.
3.6 Bottle. Black with a small head. Some traces of chocolate with a medium body. Have read quite a lot of rave reviews about this one but it disappointed me.
3.5 From cask at Lass O?Gowrie 07.05.15. Black. Foamy beige head. Aroma of coffee, black malt and star anise. Similar taste. Low drinkability.
3.6 Cask at JDW. Dark brown with a lasting tan head and some lace. Dusting of chocolate on the nose, light red grape also. Taste is a really nice swirl of dark fruits and light coffee and chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is good, feels well joined up, neither to sweet nor too dry. Drinkable also. Fine porter.
3.9 Cask at Lloyds bar. Pours black, nose is smoky, meaty, roasted chocolate, taste is similar, quite dry and bitter, lots of chocolate.
3.8 Racked Cask at Walsall Beer Festival 10/04/15 My good god. I’ve been meaning to try this for some time and it did not dissapoint. Lucious black porter with a good tan covering, nose is smokey stout style with dark chocolate roasted malts and cocoa, dark smooth velvet. Very good.
4.0 Cask in the Commercial Inn, Sowerby Bridge. Pours black with a nice tan head. Rich and bitter with notes of chocolate, leather, liquorice and just a hint of blackcurrant. Oily texture. Very good.
