2.9Tap. Pours murky dirty orange, small orange white head, great residual and lacing. Aroma is a bit of dishwater, pine, orange. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, thick ants resinous. Over ripe citrus. Full body, thick.
3.612 oz bottle. Pours a brilliant cloudy honey color with a dense white persistent head. Tons of lacing. Malty aroma with a hint of pine. Big hop forward flavor with a quick transition to malt sweetness and a lingering pine finish. Kumquats. Nice combination with above average carbonation and a bitter sweet lingering finish that is quite nice.
3.8Bottle. It poured a cloudy gold color with a nice white head. Malty aroma with notes of toast and caramel with some hoppy spices and citrus. Very smooth and tasty.
3.7Mild resinous pine and citrus aroma with bready caramel maltiness
Pours a hazy with sediment orange copper color and small white head
Strong bready malt with light caramel balanced very well with resinous piney and citrus hops
Medium full bodied with medium low CO2, quick finish with slight hop lingering.
Extremely well balanced beer. Smooth and tasty, not overpowering on either side. Could be a dangerous sipper.
4.2This is a really good Winter Ale. It's got a nice malt base with a light hop taste. Not particularity heavy either. A touch light for a winter Ale, but very good, I would like more of this beer, but there are so many more to try.
3.9Pours a hazy amber color with a medium white head. Citrusy notes with a bitter hoppy finish. Good beer.
3.32018 edition - 8.3% ABV. Pours clear amber with two finger, light beige head. Aroma is caramel, light spice and citrus. Taste is caramel and cinnamon, moving to some orange zest and some coriander, moving to a light hop backbone. A decent winter warmer.
3.512 ounce bottle bb 04/09/19. Label indicates 8.3% abv, not 7.5% as currently shown. Pours mostly clear, orange-amber with lots of legs and a quarter inch of foam on top. Nose is orange flesh, toasted grain, resin and earthy caramel. Flavors of banana bread, yeast, toasted pecan, caramel and mixed light citrus. Finish has some wood and a bit of black pepper. Medium bodied with a little too much fizz. Dry biased as expected and slightly astringent.
3.1Draft to taster at The Pint Room. Looks solid; a transparent caramelish gold with white head. Smells and tastes of mild caramel, ale yeast, and a kiss of hops. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Inoffensive, but underwhelming.
4.0Btl pours a hazy dull golden color with a creamy dense off white head that hangs around leaving lace all over glass. Smells of citrus, earth, cookies and spice. Taste of grapefruit, orange, bread, sweet caramel and pepper. Medium body, soft, creamy mouthfeel, lively carbonation and a dry, bitter finish. Hardy, bold and strong ale that’s a perfect beer for the cold winter holidays. It’s unique, as it’s not to sweet or heavy. It’ll make you forget your at the in laws. Excellent!❄️
3.8Draft. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy balanced complex malt and hop aroma. Medium to full body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid brew.
4.0At the brewery and from a take home growler. Pours golden amber with head and lace in a St Bernardus tulip glass. Aroma of rich malts. Medium carbonation and significant mouthfeel. Flavors of amber malts, caramel, medium grains & hops, slight Italian herbs, subtle alcohol. Overall rich, flavorful, and tasty enough from a flight of 5 to pick this one to get a growler.
3.1Not very enthralling. A basic beer with some light hop. Not like a strong ale at all. Light bodied basic beer. Meh.
3.912 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy medium orange/amber color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper/pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and citrus/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, apricot, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, pepper, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and citrus/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, fairly sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mildly warming 8.3%. Overall this is a very nice imperial amber ale style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and citrus/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Nice well rounded complexities. Balanced Amarillo/Styrian Goldings hops with Munich/Crystal malts. A bit juicy feeling. A very enjoyable offering.
3.5Bottle. Grapefruit and orange citrus aroma with notes of earthy hops and a bit of caramel malt. Pours cloudy orange colored with a thin, but retentive off white head that also has good lacing. Starts with caramel malt and bright orange citrus flavors. Finishes dry, but quite smooth with earthy hops and grapefruit citrus flavors as well as a bit of citric acidity. Pretty nice winter warmer.
4.0B-. Pours a clear golden color with white head. The finish is a little bitter
3.18.3% Cloudy orange. Low head. Caramel buiscuit, orange rind, mild hops if any, citrus. Same taste, bit Sticky, syrupy. Sweet. Kinda glad it's a one and donner.
3.2Taps hazy amber with a substantial buff head. Aroma offers malty, pomme and subtle piney hops. Flavor ramps up all of these, especially the hops, and adds a touch of spice. Mouthfeel presents decent body and peppy fizz. How 'bout them Vikings.
3.3Pours medium golden and looks like a hazy lager. Nice white head like a snow capped mountain peak, which is great for this time of year in Montana. Good winter flavor. A bit malty with a nice winter warmer feeling. Tasty all around. Note the best flavor but just what you need for a winter warmer.
3.2Nearly clear copper pour with a two finger, creamy white head. Aroma is pale malt toastiness, a little oily grain and a hint of pine and caramel. Flavor is woody malt, caramel, earthy, pine and herbal hops. Medium body, chewy feel, light to medium carbonation, off dry finish. OK overall, a little much on the grain oil taste.
3.3Bottle pours a fairly clear golden orange with a one finger eggshell head and good lacing. Aroma is a green olive sweet catpiss citrus. Malty taste. Mild bitterness. Aftertaste lingers.
3.7Nice aromas and flavors of woody malts with some biscuit followed by a nice blend of piney hops. Well balanced and good color with a decent head.Good for the season.
3.4Bottle. Somewhat murky orange pour with a smaller white head. Syrupy and boozy, citrus and pine resin.
3.3Bomber (8.3% ABV) at my daughters on 12th Feb 2017: the day before I flew home to England. Golden amber pour, white topping. Marmalade like aroma and taste, fairly sweet throughout with a slight piney hop bitterness late on: decent.
3.512 oz. bottle. 8.3% ABV. Hazy, golden, foamy white head. Aroma was orange, pine, bready malt. Taste was mild bitter, citrus, lemon, spruce.
3.4Muddy golden with no head. Strong hops, sweet crystal malt, and some light toasted notes. Sweet citrus throughout. Medium bodied. Solid offering.
3.812 oz. bottle with an ABV. of 8.3%. Pours gold with a tight frothy white head that leaves a foamy film and collar. Aroma is bright hoppy pine spruce sweet caramel alcohol corn. Taste is fragrant with floral sweet flowers and fruit with subtle bitterness and smooth warming alcohol malt caramel, alcohol is well hidden. Although you certainly know it’s there. Palate is medium to full a bit slick and sticky. I’m not going to complain, I like it!
3.0Bottle from a convenience store. Aroma is sweet, citrusy, and a little musty. Taste is resin, pine, some sweet malt, and a bitter boozy aftertaste. Not great.
3.3I’m having a hard time getting a read on this beer. The aroma seemed just sugary without much else. Slightly hazy medium yellow body with a finely laced foamy white head. The taste is nice with a little baking spice and some pine hop bitterness. Good, slightly sweet caramel malt body offsets the bitterness nicely. Finishes with a lasting bitterness on the back sides of the tongue and residual sweetness. Definitely develops as it warms. Nice, I want to try this one again next year.
3.4great malty smell with some light flowery hops, sweet malty taste with not much hops bitterness at all....little bit of a weird finish on end...starts up front too and gets stronger....what is that?? not sure, might be the hops but it is unpleasant. Gets weaker with faster drinking lol
