3.6 Thanks to the name of this beer, all I can think of is urinal cake. Anyways, clear amber color with a thin head and lovely lace. Aroma of vegetables and spices. Flavor is dry and mild. It’s OK.
3.1 Pours a rather hazy Amber-orange with minimal head. Aroma has some citrus, but mainly pine-spruce. Flavor was fairly bitter. Not a lot of citrus-more hoppy. Rather dry finish. On tap at POP bar/restaurant in Seattle’s EMP museum.
3.2 From the tap at Buffalo Wild Wings, the pour is burnt orange in color and slightly cloudy with a white head that lingures. The aroma is hops want to say cascade hops, but not completely sure. The taste is malts with hops. Not a lot of distinct flavors I can pick out. The finish is carbonated and thin rather watery. Overall a good hoppy red.
3.4 Aroma is tart, clove, citrus and roasted malts. The taste is toasted malts with hints of honey, clove and a slight earthiness. Well balanced overall but not mindblowing. Appearance is a clear amber with a medium frothy head thwt retains very well.
2.7 This beer is quite exquisite hops and barley and a wonderful blend. So wonderful it makes me want to smack a baby in the mouth. Good job guys good job.
3.1 Bottle poor. Cloudy copper Amber with a decent creamy tan head. Light sweet malt and caramel aroma. Medium somewhat oily body. Sweet with a light bitter finish.
3.1 12oz bottle into a tumbler. Pours a slightly cloudy reddish-amber with a light beige head. Nose of caramel malts, tropical fruit,. Slight fruit gum flavour; unappeallingly thin on the palate. Not a whole lot to it. A milquetoast offering; would like to try some others of theirs, though.
3.0 (bottle - 22 oz) Copper pour with a thin tan head. Sweet aroma with hints of hops. Very mild. Flavor itself is mild as well. Slightly sweet at the start with a little bit of bitterness coming through at the end.
3.4 With Z and J , a bomber, pours a cloudy Amber red with a beige head . Nose is sweet malt. Taste is caramel, and sweet toffee, and nicely balanced malt . Taste is sweet , with caramel and coffee with heavy malt , and less hops. Finishes on the same sweet tasting notes with a short finish . Quaff Score 7 / 10
3.0 Bomber. Pours a copper golden with a white head and aroma of malt. Taste is of roasted malt, caramel, light hops, spice and fruity notes into the finish.
3.7 Rating #1247 09.09.2014 - On tap @revolutionyeg . Dark amber pour with a decent white foam that fades to a ring. Aroma is sweet orange, mild grass, mild toasted malt. Taste is a blast of citrusy sweetness, tempered by a decent punch of hoppy bitterness. lots of punchy, sharp, bold flavours. Well balanced red that’s super crushable.
3.3 Bottle generously offered by the proprietor of Het Haasken in Diest. Creamy, off-white, stable head, misty orange amberish colour but far from the ’red’ promised on the label. Aroma of American hops and malt, impressions of fresh orange peel, biscuit, roasted peanuts, grapefruit, kiwi, caramel. Clean, sweetish taste, low in esters, more malt fruitiness, caramelly, lightly toasted, quite straightforward but leading to an aromatically hoppy finish of citrus peel, spices and flowers, mildly bittering. Simple but enjoyable.
3.0 tastes kinda red like a pale amber without a lot of roasted peat. hoppy and fruity even a little juicy with some dryness near the finish.
3.5 Amber pour with a frothy white head and clinging lace. Fruity hop aroma. Fruit, hop, wine gum flavour with a nice malty background. Sweet tangy finish.
3.4 Some citrus and light paper. Light bitter finish with some mash malt. Orange pour. Bottle.
3.4 From a bottle at the RB DC tasting September 6. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Flavors of honey and light citrus.
3.0 12oz bottle from TRT, I think. Poured a chill hazed deep amber with a smaller foamy off white head. Aroma/flavor of grains, bread, toffee, caramel malts, light citrus and slight earth notes. Medium body, creamy carbonation, smoother full mouthfeel. Meh.
3.2 On tap @ Seattle Tap Room. Amber in color with white foam. Has a decent bit of citrusy hop character to it, mostly orange, with some pine and herbal hop qualities as well. Slightly earthy on the tongue, which comes across kind of like wet dirt. Some sweet caramel malts, citrus, and a touch of fruity esters. A bit of a husky bitterness to it as well.
3.0 Bottle from Smoker Friendly. Medium amber in color. Malty nose with a little fruitiness. A bit of bready hoppiness as well. Bready up front with a bit of spicy hop character. Decent brew.
3.6 Bottle from Chevy Chase beer and wine. Hazy orange body with slight head. Nose is hoppy, sweet. Taste is nice and hoppy and caramel. Warming finish.
3.1 12 oz bottle from Rockhead. Pours a lightly cloudy amber colour with decent-sized off-white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is caramel, lightly toasty grains and light citric/herbal hops. Flavour is malt-forward with big caramel, some toasty graininess and a fairly mild citric and herbal hop notes. Average body. Don’t see this as an APA, but it’s a servicable amber ale.
3.7 On June 25, 2015. At Elysian Capitol Hill in Seattle, Washington. HAzy amber color, off-white head. Malty, herbal taste. Herbal aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium low bitterness. Malty, herbal scent.
3.0 Bottle at a 4th of July party. No idea what it looks like because (1) it was dark, and (2) it’s a party where the proper glassware is the bottle itself. Didn’t know the style in advance, but I assumed nondescript amber ale - toast, grain, caramel, indistinct moderately bitter hop profile. Overall: a completely forgettable beer, okay for chilling with friends.
3.4 Draught at Nakanoshima. Dark caramel, bitter citrusy hops, hints of red fruit, bitter finish. More a hoppy amber, pretty decent anyway.
1.8 Everything about this beer is just fine. Nothing is great. The name is cute but that's about it.
3.8 Has a roasty and floral aroma. The appearance is reddish brown and slightly cloudy. The head is somewhat frothy. the taste is not bitter but somewhere in the middle. This is a medium bodied beer with a slick texture. The carbonation is average and the beer finishes on a bitter note. Overall this was a surprising red ale not bad but I thought the hops were a bit overpowering for a red ale.
3.1 Bottle 12fl.oz. [ As Elysian Mens Room Original Red ]. Clear medium to light orange amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, caramel, toffee, earty - nutty notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, nutty - earthy, sweet malt, caramel - toffee. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150116]
3.1 Pours slightly hazy pale amber with one finger of loose light beige head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, moderate chunky lacing. (4/5) Nose is toasted malt, caramel, mild floral and citrus. (6/10) Taste is medium sweet, mild bitter. (6/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, off-dry and mild bitter finish. (3/5) Sigh… I have regret. Not that this is a bad beer - it’s not. But it’s just what it says on the bottle: an original red. And that’s about all it is. Nothing interesting or memorable here. (12/20)
2.7 Amber color with frothy white head. Caramel malts with some light floral and citrus character. Easy drinking, but not spectacular.
3.2 Malty citrus hoppy aroma. Solid amber/copper appearance. Slight bitter. close to your typical IPA
