3.5 12oz bottle best by 4/17/2022 - In the US, signs that fall is near include: a drop in temperature, Halloween decorations, and pumpkin beers hitting the shelves next to Oktobierfest ones. Here goes to my first pumpkin beer since last year. Nose is fall potpourri: nutmeg and cinnamon. Sip adds more nuanced spices but it smells like the candle section of any Cracker Barrel. Wish I had this this morning when I made my first pot of chili since last year. Can't wait to mow with it next. sweet but not too sweet. medium body. spice aftertaste.
3.8 Aromas of pumpkin butternut squash brown sugar caramel and butterscotch. Taste is sweet pumpkin brown sugar butterscotch toffee caramel cinnamon nutmeg and butternut squash. Overall, good stuff with a solid body.
3.2 Amber color with a foamy white head which dissipated quickly. Aroma of cinnamon and cloves. Bold and malty with a blend of spices. Not a bad pumpkin ale.
3.6 12 oz bottle, poured slightly hazy copper with little head. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Pumpkin spice aroma. Cinnamon forward taste with caramel malt and pumpkin, avoiding the all too common overspicing. Nutmeg is prominent in the finish.
3.5 Pours a slightly hazy dark orange with a big off white head that diminishes rather quickly, then levels off as a thin cover that stays throughout. Cinnamon and pumpkin aroma. Taste is sweet caramel malt, buttered biscuits. cinnamon, clove and pumpkin seeds. Not a fan of pumpkin ales generally, but this one is pretty darn good!
3.3 Elysian pumpkin ale pours has a red body with a thin white head. Scents of pumpkin, cinnamon, caramel, biscuit. Easy drinking and simple.
4.0 12 oz. can purchased at Total Wine & More - Melbourne, FL. Pours a cloudy dark bronze color with a tight off white head and very good retention. Good lacing. Fall spice aroma. Strong pumpkin pie flavors throughout. Good balance of sweet and spice. Tastes like fall. Medium body and medium finish. The 6.7% ABV is warming but well hidden. Well done.
5.0 Dark orange color with a bit of brown. Something lingers in the brew giving it almost a gel like appearance but actually not too heavy of body. Nice pumpkin pie aroma and flavor. Perfectly balanced, not too sweet. Third beer I've tried in the pumpkin pack and I'd go back to this one any time!
4.0 The aroma of pumpkin pie! Beautiful amber hue. Starts off with some cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and pumpkin. Has a sweet, malty middle. and has a clean but spicy finish. Maybe a bit sweeter, and thicker mouthful and we could have one of the best pumpkin ales!
3.5 Keg at Elysian Brewery Taproom, Seattle, WA on 05/09/2008. This is very likely the best pumpkin beer I’ve ever had. Just the right amount of spice and sweetness and there are earthier notes too. Cereal and toasted malts come into play.
3.5 Big nutmeg early, great color
3.4 Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle, best by date January 15, 2020 poured into a glass. Hazy orange with small white head. Aroma is pumpkin, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is pumpkin, clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
4.5 Pours a dark Amber color with a pumpkin and spice aroma, overall tastes just like pumpkin pie filling
3.7 Bought the pumpkin pack at grocer couldn’t resist 4 new ticks. Dark colored with smallish head. Nose is rich pumpkin pie filling and light slicing. Tastes similar. Spices are lighter and pumpkin is full on. Also get light brown sugar, caramel, rootbeer. Chewy palate.
3.5 12 ounce bottle at sisters house. Smell spices. Bronze in color. Taste the spices. Smooth and easy to drink. Cinnamon aftertaste. Really good. Cheers!
3.5 Backlog, 2010 Bottle shared by Patrick with Shaun and I. Pours a copper orange with medium off white top. Light lacing in the glass. Nose is pumpkin, clove, ginger, Indian Earth, vanilla, and dough. Medium body with moderate carb. A bit too spicy for us
3.1 Bomber on 6th March 2019 while on holiday in California. Slight haze to the brown body, off-white head. Pumpkin (surprise, surprise) aroma and taste, fairly sweet actually. I am no expert on Pumpkins in general let alone Pumpkin Ales, but this seems fine to me. Bit one dimensional maybe, but certainly got Pumpkin flavours.
3.4 Bottle from Beer Cats 2019 fukubukuro. Pours nice amber, bit cloudy and with some beige foam on top. Lots of pumpkin in the nose, spices like cinnamon and nutmeg also prevalent, sweetish and malty. tastes sweet, again good pumpkin character there, same spices, kind of tastes exactly how it smells, just some btter hop notes are leading to a relatively sharp finish, no particularly long linger there. Pretty solid pumpkin beer, methinks.
3.6 Bottle from Beach Liquor FWB enjoyed in Christmas Eve in TN. Pretty nice pumpkin ale overall. Light clove spice in the aroma and light sweetness in the flavor. A little vegetal pumpkin and a little pumpkin pie. Pleasant.
4.1 DATE: November 22, 2018... OCCASION: Thanksgiving celebration wrapping up, time to reflect on the beer that helped make the day even more enjoyable... GLASSWARE: Hobgoblin pint... pours from a day-old growler a nearly opaque, dark brown body with slow, meandering bubbles that build a resilient, sudsy off-white head... murky and autumnal... heavy burst of cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet potato, tea, and thick bread malts... the secondary clove is there too... this sips well beyond its 6.7% ABV would suggest, with a medium-bodied, textured, flavorful attitude--a little thin, perhaps... this communicates the cinnamon in a pleasant way, with clove, nutmeg, and tea mellowing the profile... this is a strong representation of the style, one that received a solid from my brother-in-law Gil...a nice Thanksgiving accompaniment...
3.3 On tap at Tap That Growlers in La Grande a dark copper with a long lasting off-white small head. The aroma is cinnamon and cloves, apple, pumpkin, The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. The apple comes through with some spices and lingering essence of pumpkin. A tart and slightly bitter fruitiness and cloves with warming alcohol lingers on and on,
3.8 Orange hazy pour. Aroma is spiced pumpkin. Tatse is pumpkin and a very little nutmeg. Fairly get out d, not great
4.1 Orange brown. Nice baked pumkin and gingerbread aroma and flavor. Best easy drinking pumpkin brew.
3.2 Draft to taster at The Pint Room. Looks solid; a transparent lighter copperish caramel with off-white head that dissipates into lacing fairly quickly. Smells of pumpkin and related pie spices. Tastes like it smells, but with a bit of bitterness rather than sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium-light to medium-bodied and very mildly (but oddly) bitter. Decent, but smells better than it tastes.
3.7 Butelka. Aromat cynamon, jabłko, przyprawy. W smaku lekka goryczka, lekko słodkie.
3.9 10/21/18 - gift from my son - thanks! Hazy, dark orange pour, initial bubbly off-white head that fades after a while. Decadent spicy aroma, nutmeg, pumpkin spice and cloves. Full-bodied flavor, solid spice content without being overbearing, pick up hints of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove and of course pumpkin spice. Thickish mouthfeel. Pretty decent pumpkin beer.
3.4 Well done simple pumpkin beer, spices are mild but noticeable. Easy drinking, medium bodied.
3.2 Cinnamon and pumpkin nose. Murky ochre, thin head. Pumpkin, cinnamon, allspice. Medium body, easy carbonation.
3.0 10/07/2022 It's been 4 years since I last tried this beer. When I saw the pumpkin variety pack in the store, I decided it was time for me to update my review of this beer, as well as the other varieties. 12 oz. bottle, 6.7% ABV, Experience by: 02/05/2023 AROMA: Somewhat sweet with scents of brown sugar, cloves, pumpkin, allspice, and cinnamon. APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque amber-orange. There is no head, nor any lacing. TASTE: A bit of "sharpness" that is unexpected given the sweetness level of the aroma. Flavors of pumpkin, clove, cinnamon, and allspice are easily detectable without being overpowering. Nice level of pumpkin flavor with a low sweetness level. Which helps avoid the "pumpkin pie in a bottle" taste that most pumpkin beers go for. Finish is on the dry side with lingering flavors of clove and pumpkin. MOUTHFEEL: Slightly above-average carbonation. Slightly rough/tacky texture. Medium-bodied. OVERALL: I'm not liking this version as much as the 2018 vintage. The aroma seems more subdued than I remember. It no longer has a creamy-smooth texture. I think the sweetness level is too low. I'm not a huge fan of super-sweet pumpkin beers, but this one could benefit from a slight bump in sweetness. While the head of the 2018 vintage was nothing special, it was certainly better than the "no head" I got in this 2022 vintage. In short, I would buy the 2018 version again, but I would pass on the 2022 version. For comparison purposes, my original review from 09/28/2018 is below, along with the rating I gave it in each category. 12 oz. bottle. AROMA (9): Smells just like a pumpkin pie - pumpkin, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, cloves - it's all in there! APPEARANCE (3): Pours an opaque amber-orange, with a thin, light-tan head, that dissipates quickly. TASTE (7): Medium-sweet with lots of pumpkin and spice flavors. PALATE (3): Full-bodied with a slightly creamy texture. Average carbonation and a moderate finish. OVERALL (15): I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin beers, but I give a few of them a try every year. This is one of the better ones that I've tried. The aroma is heavenly, yet the flavor is not overly sweet. It strikes a good balance between beer and spice.
3.3 Pours clear caramel with a thick and frothy but ephemeral ivory head. Aroma presents clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and toasted malt notes. Flavor features cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, subtle toasted malt and woody hop notes. And is that a bit of ginger - and a bit of allspice? Texture delivers fair body and fizz. A great beer to welcome Fall.
