3.2 330 ml bottle from BG Birra, served in a nonic half pint glass. Typical sunrise orange, slightly hazy, with a a nice, creamy, forever lasting white head. Great lacing. Not the cleanest aroma, a hint of dust and yeast, obviously together with a nice bouquet of citrus, tropical fruits, a hint of pine resin and caramel malts. Quite harsh upfront, not because of the bitterness, which is actually kinda moderate, but because of a boozy and warming sensation. Light astringency, solid malt backbone (more biscuit than caramel), slightly sticky, pleasent fruity aftertaste. Average carbonation, medium body, slightly creamy texture. I had 10+% beers where the alchool was more hidden, so that’s probably the biggest fault in this beer, imho. So so.
3.8 Hazy dark amber color with a small off-white head that keeps a nice lacing for long time. Aroma is hoppy and malty, hints of fruits like apple and grapes. Flavor is like aroma but more sweet. Low carbonation and full bodied with a nice bitter hoppy finish.
3.9 Bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, fruchtig, Citrus, Karamell. Geschmack intensiv malzig fruchtig, hopfig bitter, leicht alkoholisch.
3.3 Bottle. Dark amber body, medium offwhite head. Aroma of caramel and strong grassy hops, pine and malt. Taste is strong bitter with grass, grain, lemon. Quite sweet finish with a syryp and pine aftertaste. Pretty well hidden alcohol.
2.9 Cloudy orange colour, small white head. Aroma - mainly dominated by malt sweetness, a little boozy, marmalade, I’m getting a raisin note? Touch of pine and some earthy woodiness. Taste - a little sweet, mostly orange from the amarillo, not getting much chinook in the spicy end of things. Soft bitterness, bordering on being a little too sweet. It’s ok but a little sickly.
3.3 Bottle. Golden, hazy, average and fully diminishing head. Moderate to full malty and caramel sweetish aroma with light bread, light fruitiness, light grapefruit hoppyness. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, caramel and light fruitiness, light grapefruit hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, caramel and faint fruitiness, some grapefruit hoppyness. Caramel sweetish DIPA - lacks the hoppyness.
3.6 Nice hoppy beer, malty and fruity. Yet, the TRIPA and the IPA from Emelisse are better. This one stands a bit in between.
3.8 Bottle with mR_fr0g at his place on 12 October. Poured a golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of orange peal, citrus and caramel. Grapefruit hop flavours with grain and candy sugar. Finishes with citrus hops, resin and dry cereals.
3.6 Bottle from the brewery. Not sure if this is actually retired. Aroma is big noble hop with citrus with juicy fruit. Orange pour with a slight haze. thin white head. Flavour is resinour, assertive clean bitterness. Nice sticky, resinous palate. hop is a bit noble hop but ticks most of the DIPA boxes.
3.6 April 2011. From bottle. Amber color with a white head. Aromas of caramel, yeast, malt, pine and flowers. Good hoppy flavors with a bit of alcohol on the finish.
3.7 Bottle from Martinus, many thanks. Hazy orange amber colored beer with medium light beige head. Aroma of sweet malt, peaches, oranges, orange zest. Solid sweet malty base with honey and toffee followed with harsh hoppy bitterness together with grapefruit, grapefruit zest, pines, yeast. Strong long hoppy bitter finish. Tasty.
3.8 (Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 26 July 2013) Amber colour with dense, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of orange, citrus and a touch of resin. Fruity, malty taste with citrus, orange peel, grapefruit, a touch of resin and a generous citric bitterness in the finish, All backed up by a solid malt foundation, with a certain caramel sweetness. More than medium body. Well balanced and very tasty. Very nice.
3.7 Bottled from Biernavigatie.nl. Batch 03.14.B, so i guess it’s this (already retired) version. Dark amber colored, small but lasting off-white head. Very complex hoppy nose, clearly American hops, fruity, pine, but also quite some caramel malts shining through, it’s like walking though a brewery. Initially a bittersweet flavor, hops and caramel malts, low on carbonation, quite thick mouthfeel. Harsh bitter finish, pretty dry. The aroma is just amazing, but the flavor is leaning too much on the hop bitterness, although it does get better when adding the yeast. I’ll stick to their TIPA, which is both more intense and more balanced.
3.8 Bottle from BarleyWine, Copenhagen - Vibrant orange pour with a medium frothy white head, lovely persistent lacing. Strong fresh crisp citrus hoppy notes, mandarin, grapefruit, pine, with nice malty, boozy pleasing bitter finish. Beautiful.
3.9 Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy amber with a large off-white head. Aroma is earthy and caramel. Full bodied, almost. Flavor is earthy, spicy, nearly grapefruit. With a firm malty backbone. There’s lots and lots of hop, but the hop burn is restrained. Finishes bitter with a mouthful of mixed hop. Delicious.
4.6 One of the best tasting DIPA that i get, pleasure flavour and full taste aroma
3.5 My first and certainly not last, beer brewed by Emelisse. For an DIPA I thought the aroma was a little subdued. After giving it some time in the glass it gives off a pleasant spicy, earthy aroma with lots of grape fruit. The aroma is really more balanced than subdued. There is also some bread, raisin, and earty notes coming through. The taste has a moderate bitteness to it, with a fruity aroma coming through. medium body, perhaps a bit salty.
3.1 Looks very nice in a hazy amber tone but the aroma is not my favourite. Lots of citrus but less hops. Still good. Some of these dutch breweries like Jopen, Emelisse and De Molen seem to be better at dark beers like imperial stouts.
3.4 0.33 L bottle. A lacing low dirty blond head, atop a shimmering pale amber colored body. Pretty bold hop aroma; Citrus zest, evergreen and resiny hop oils. Taste is hop forward. Light resinous, earthy and piney, with some mellowing citrus fruits. Subdued, lightly sweet malt body. OIly mouthfeel. Medium full. Tight resiny bitter endnotes. Staightforward and clean.
2.7 Botella dde 33 Cl. cerveza tipo doble India pale ale osea una IPA con mas gradacion alcoholica.
4.2 Kraftig smak mycket bred i doft.
Tung fruktig aroma. Smaken virker litt kunstig parfymert. Aprikos. Svakt syrlig avslutning. Blir litt monoton. Litt uklar i siste kvelling.
Hapt goed weg. Fles @ de Klep.
2.8 Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours dark nut brown weak head. Aroma is light fruity malty. Taste is heavy bitter and fruity.
3.6 Shared 330 ml bottle. Hazy amber body with a tanned film. Dates on the nose. Smooth to drink. Fruity and bitter. Full bodied. Long finish.
3.1 bottle, from pivni rozmanitost. lightly hazy amber with a steady head; aroma of crushed gingernut biscuits and some tropical fruit; chewy texture with some lychee and grapefruit and a strange lurking salty oily quality which i couldn’t quite put my finger on but made me think of pancetta. a bit underwhelming but
3.9 Bottle - Incredible aroma considering the age of at least 1 year. Pine and earthy hops with a bit of sweetness. Cloudy orange with a thick head. Very mellow and sweet, orange and flowers, with just a hint of bitterness. Alcohol is very deceptive. Very creamy on the tongue, and so mild I could drink it all day. Not sure if it is because of the age, will rate again with a new one if I can get it.
