4.4 Double de 7,5% abv, pour 17,3° plato, avec seulement 18 ebu. Levure de Westmalle. Exemplaire d’un an environ. Couleur brun roux moyen (ebc 45). Clarté nette. Bulles fines à moyennes, partout, vives. Mousse brun clair, fine, stable à 2 mm.
Licht koffieachtig, notig. Zoetigheid met een hoppige afdronk. Lekker bier.
3.1 33cl bottle, served in trappist chalice. Poured a brown with a with a small beige head that disappeared quickly. Aromas of malt, hops, cotton candy, strawberries. Tastes of malt, hops, caramel, fruity bubblegum, strawberry. Drinks very smoothly. Medium body with a bittersweet finish. Overall a quite average dubbel.
3.1 33 cl bottle at home. Pours hazy brown with big beige head. Aroma: very malty, coffee, butterscotch, grape, dried fruits. Taste: high sweetness with low bitterness. Finish has notes of nuts, grapes and apricot. Texture is slick. Carbonation is average.
3.5 Dark caramel look with a very fine head that gives way to an even finer lacing. Smells like a Belgian ale aright, with dark fruit and strawberries and caramel and all that. The taste follows through, with caramel, toffee, strawberry jam and a bitter hop aftertaste. Decent dubbel, I’d say.
3.7 Bottle 33cl. Dark brown with a ruby glow. Off white head. Aroma of fruit and malts. The taste is nothing as expected. It starts mildly bitter and develops into a frenzy of fruits, spices and bitterness. The aftertaste leaves a glow of alcohol.
2.6 Nogal een zware smaak voor een dubbel, de kleur zit goed: donkerbruin, voldoende schuimkraag.
3.5 Lekkere bruisende dubbel met beetje kauwgomballen zoetheid. Backlog from 2015/01/31.
4.0 A little sour in the nose. First sip shows the rich malts, some dried red fruits, a little sugar, some hidden spices and a very nice little bitter aftertaste. It has not that much carbonization and it is a little sticky. Very well done dubbel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy (iOs)
3.9 Bottle from Damian. Quite good beer executed true to style. Lightly hazy brown colour and a soft head with moderate duration. Rich malty character with dried fruits and caramel flavours, only subtle yeasty spiciness and bitterness in the background. Balanced and relatively easy drinking for a 7,5% ABV beer. Alcohol hidden well.
3.7 Bottle: Chouffe glass: Creamy head. Deep dark ruby ish bidy. Aroma has lots of caramel, some malts, dried leaves, some prunes and raisins... Bit creamy... Flavour is malty with many caramel tones, some bitters, dried leaves, raisin/prunes, toast and bready... Aftertaste is malty, toast, raisin, caramel, light caramel... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied. Decent, easy drinker, ok...
3.2 Along with Yves at his home hazy dark brown colored body with an off white head and a chocolate malt hop aroma a chocolate malt hop sweet taste with a bitter finish
2.6 Bottle. Murky light brown body, small head for the style. Weak aroma, mostly raisins and light cocoa. Quite watery mouthfeel and as a result of this neglect the 7,5% ABV comes sharply through. Taste has some more raisins and cocoa but the body is really light and unbalanced. Dry finish with cocoa powder and alcohol. This is clearly a below average Dubbel. Could have been more reasonable with the "reported" 6,5% ABV.
3.1 Shared with wim at my home. Hazy light brown colored beer with small white head and no carbonation visible. Malty spiced aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is hopped bitter malty bit alcoholic hints.
3.8 From 0,33l bottle, BBD: 27/01/2017 Pours deep cloudy cherry amber brown liquid, big frothy tan head, Aroma: fruity, cherries, candied peaches, caramel, malty, fruity, Taste: medium sweet, light to medium bitter, light to medium sour, caramel, fruity, griotte cherries, citrus, alcohol, Palate: medium to full body, creamy texture, soft to average carbonation, long full caramel, alcohol cherry finish, quite sweet, Overall, quite good, enjoyed. Bit to much alcohol in taste. Resemble to good Belgian Trappist dubbels.
3.9 Bottle at arendsnest. Pours deep ruby brown, nose is malty toffee, caramel, fruity, taste is similar, rich.
3.0 Bottle at arands nest... Dark brown.. Thin tan head... Soft sweet toffee fruit nose.. Dark Cherry chocolate roast.. Dark malts... Dark berries fruit
3.6 Cola color with medium head. A: grass notes, raspberry, roasted malts, hint of caramel, dark chocolate, coffee note. T: creamy, with chocolate, wood note, slight oiliness, faint booziness. Nice mellow roast bitterness which ends in a fruity, almost sour taste, mostly apple and raspberry. Medium to full bodied. Aftertaste is quite dry and sweet.
3.1 courtesy of Thomas Krüsi - hazy dark brown beer with a little foam left; correct lacework; nutty and caraelish aroma, light toasted with notes of molasses; full-bodied, quite sweet and thick; long caramelish finish with notes of prunes and molasses - deceptively simplistic and raw
3.3 Bottle at Hotel Emeldinge. Clear red - orangey with a light brown head. Aroma medium malty (caramel, fruity, cherries). Flavor medium sweet, fruity. Medium body.
3.8 Bottle from a local Albert Heijn. The beer is dark amber colored and pours a cream colored head, with nice carbonation. The aroma is very fruity and yeasty, with tones of cherries and strawberries, also a little raisins and caramel. In the background light tones of roasted malts. The taste is creamy and soft. The CO2 is well balanced with the full sweetness of candy and caramel. In the background some nice bitters are noticable. The finish is light bitter with tones of roasted malts and long noticable. Perfect dubbel, I want another one.
3.3 10/30/2007 2:56:42 PM Bottle from Bier Koning. Dark hazy orange. Nice head. Sweet, tangy nose. Dark fruits. Carbed. Alcy finish. Decent.
2.9 330ml bottle (7.5%). Slightly hazy copper color. Medium size, yellowish head, stays. Metallic, grainy, hop pellets, black pepper in aroma. Sweet, caramel, grainy, malty in taste. Sweet caramel malts in aftertaste. Feels raw. Tastes raw. Sugars cover alcohol well. Drinkable, but bit dull.
2.7 330ml bottle (Uba ja Humal, Haapsalu) - thanks Marduk! Stodgy aroma, some solvents - pear drops. Later mashier, maltier and sugarier. Nice deep red, large tight sticky pale head, plenty of intricate lacing. Taste is sweet and mashy. My first thought is "this might be nice if they fermented it". Sweetish smooth palate, carbonation barely adequate against that, but there. Pretty dull, to be honest. Smothers the alcohol behind the sweet mashiness. Finish has some pleasant noble hops. Poor belgian, needs some attenuation.
3.7 On tap at Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Decided I wanted something a little darker and went with this. Not bad, pretty much your standard classic dubbel. Dark fruits, some spices, nothing out of the ordinary but you can tell the skill is there. I’d love to try more of their offerings.
3.6 Bottle (7.5% alcohol version). Pours dark red-brown with beige head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is sweet, burnt sugar, malt, dark fruits. Flavor follows the nose. Alcohol is well covered. Overall: very good.
3.2 Brown beer, tan head. Nose is plums, candi sugar, dried fruit. Flavor is malty, dark fruit, chocolate hints, roasty notes and barley. Finishes with dark fruit, sugar and chocolate, some bitterness.
3.6 Acobreada,turva,espuma bege mediana;aroma delicioso,aparecendo malte tostado,nozes,castanhas,passas,açúcar mascavo,chocolate amargo e notas cítricas;sabor encorpado tão bom quanto o aroma,com um adocicado prazeroso e equilibrado,amargor praticamente inexistente,álcool notado no final mas bem inserido,dulçor se mantem no retrogosto. Boa surpresa,ótima Dubbel,me lembrou a Westmalle,porem mais suave,recomendo.
2.5 No head it is like a glas of dark tea, caramel, cheese, brown, was a bit disappointed by this one.Would not call it a double on a blind test.
3.4 Dunkel brun farve med beige skum. Lukt av røstet malt, karamell og frukt. Smak av røstet malt, karamell, frukt og krydder. Fruktig avslutning. Import.
