1.5 Very surprised by such a high rating for this beer. I found it to be very underwhelming. Coffee flavour wasn't pronounced enough. Too thin for an imp. Very low carbonation. Put all 3 of those together and overall it was a let down. A score closer to 60 would be where I would place it.
3.7 Loads of koffie, roasty, beetje chocolade. Vooral veel bang dat droge koffieboon. Iets spicy, roasty bitter. Best goed maar iets te dun.
3.9 Bottle from de Caigny Dranken in Essen, Belgium. The beer is nearly black colored and has a cream colored head, with good carbonation. The aroma is malty, with caramel, roasted malts, dried fruits, weak chocolate and coffee and a hint of spices. Not completely stout like. The taste is light sweet and medium to full bodied and starts with caramel and dried fruits and goes to light to medium bitter with hints of coffee, cacao, and spices. The finish is pretty bitter and dry and leaves some espresso taste. Nice beer, but not completly a stout in my opinion.
4.0 Dark brown with a small head.Lovely chocolate and coffee flavour with a medium body.Quite smooth considering its strength and very drinkable.
Aromat to czekolada i kawa. Spoko piwo.
3.0 Wytrawne i palone w smaku. Piany sporo. Aromat kakao, kawy i czekolady. Kawy więcej w aromacie niż w smaku. Wyraziste choć szału nie ma. Pod koniec pojawia się lekka goryczka. Można wypić.
3.6 From the bottle. Virtually black with a frothy beige head that lingers. Aroma is surprisingly tart with sour candy notes mixed in to a cafe mocha tone. The weird sourness at the start makes me wonder if I caught this one at the very start of an infection. Maybe, but whatever it was thankfully proved fleeting. After a minute or two it was all cafe mocha. Taste is full of roasted coffee bitterness and a mild, berry sourness. Body is medium, sticky. Overall not bad.
3.8 Bottle, 330 ml, courtesy of JFK10000. Shared with him and Max. Dark brown, medium beige head. Chocolate, malty, bit roasted, coffee, dry bitter finish. Smooth texture. Medium bodied.
3.5 Thin beige head soon left flotsam on a thick dark brown body. Sweet coffee aroma. Medium to full bodied, a slight prickle on the tongue & a soft dry clean finish. Taste is the opposite to the aroma with bitter espresso, cream, dark berry, dark spirits & citrus with long tangy finish.
3.7 Cocoa and little bit of subtle coffee in aroma, goes to sweet side, delicious. Clear black color with minimal sized tan head. Nice coffee, cocoa, some licorice, sweet. No alcohol in taste, but it's a bit warming. Medium body, average carbonation. //bottle
2.9 Aromat: piwo z datą ważności niemal za 2 lata, a czuć głownie utlenienie, melano, trochę czekolady. Gdzie ta kawa? Wygląd: barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Piana beżowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, obfita i względnie trwała. Pełnia wysoka z minusem, umiarkowane wysycenie i plano, lekko alkoholowy finisz.
5.0 Extravagant, outstanding BrokkoliFett.& from the other coffeecreamdarkbrownieside. Der große Russe im VeganfieberWahn könnte man sagen ;)..hier wird geklotzt , das Tempo wird von der vibrierenden Kaffeemaschine dominiert..hosssa...einmalig, fantastisch & not from here...aus Holland...with.love❤😀
3.5 Kolor: ciemno brunatny, klarowny.
3.7 Fles 33cl thuis. Koffie, bitter, roasted malts, laurier, beetje lactose, espresso, apart. Lekker zo voor af en toe. (2-2012).
3.8 Im not sure it was just Espresso stout. Was quite different. Where is the espresso? No aroma of it and taste. Hops are there. Please try more CHOCO COFFEE characters. Still good beer.
3.7 0,33 l bottle. Pours dark brown almost black with very thin vale of tan dissipating foam. Aroma of coffee, toasted malt, caramel, some chocolate and biscuit, some alcohol as well. Taste is medium sweet, heavy bitter, some light espresso like sourness. Body is full, but not heavy, texture is quite viscous, carbonation soft. Finish is long, coffee and biscuits slowly fade away and plenty roasty bitterness linger for a long time.
3.9 Bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Pours dark brown with a gushing super stable beige head. Aroma is cappuccino, milk, coffee indeed. Body is medium, creamy, strong coffee and quite sharp in alcohol and carbonation. Sweet and boozy. A bit extreme, otherwise a superb coffee stout.
4.0 the aroma is caramel and chocolate with hints of coffee, cocoa, toffee, bisquit and brown sugar... the taste is caramel and chocolate with notes of robust, cocoa, toffee, cake and brown sugar... sweet, bitter and dry aftertaste...
4.1 Tap@Uba ja Humal, Tallinn, Estonia. Strong sturdy and organic nuances of coffee, dark chocolate, some licorice. Some slightly roasted malts. A hint of dark sugar. Balanced. Wide taste spectrum and long aftertaste with roasted nutty malts. Medium body with low carbonation. Overall, sophisticated high quality product that does not emphasize espresso too much. 8 5 9 2 17
2.3 Karmel, paloność, delikatny alkohol. Średnio pełne, raczej wytrawne. Średnie wysycenie, wysoka goryczka. Niewiele kawy, sporo nudnego, gorzkiego stoutu.
4.1 330ml bottle at 100 piv, Bratislava. Very aromatic stout, coffee, chocolate, caramel. Taste is also very nice. Long-lasting aftertaste and nice alcohol level. Would definitely drink this again.
4.1 12oz bottle pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is nice crisp espresso some pit fruit sweetness and nutty notes. Tatse is more of the nice sweet malts coffee kick chocolate ash and some pit fruit.
4.4 Aroma: chocolate, coffee. Appearance: almost black; beige head with nice lacing. Taste: medium sweetness, lightly bitter, dark chocolate and coffee, roasted malt, soft carbonation. Long bitter finish. Very nice beer!
3.9 Tres bon stout! Deep layer of coffee aftertaste after tastes of caramel, vanille, raisin and other sweet flavours. But the aroma and underlying taste do not lie. Definitely a coffee beer, very nice.
4.1 Bitter coffee and liquorice aroma . Dark stewed fruit and more liquorice flavours, with some bitterness on the finish
3.9 Bottle. Darkest brown color with creamy beige head. Aroma is coffee ground. Taste is coffee, liquorice, chocolate, booze. Silky mouthfeel with fine-bubbled carbonation. Very good!
4.5 28-12-2017; bottle; at home (bought at beerwulf.com, part of their Sinterklaas box 2017). The looks of the beer are just the way I like them. The beer is very dark. It almost looks pitch black on the eye. A lovely ruby red glow can be seen in the light. On top of the beer a nice creamy and soft layer of brown foam is formed. Foam retention is average. A nice soft and creamy thin drape is left after some time. A minimal lace is left on the glass. Nice, very nice. Just like a Imperial Stout should look like. The smell of the beer is lovely. It is like you can expect from an Imperial Stout. It is very strong, robust and heavy. I smell some lovely malt aromas at first. They give a tremendous aroma. Sweet, with liquorice, some lovely red fruits, even a hint of oak wood. The typical aromas, roast and chocolate, are not to strong. For a Espresso Stout, the coffee aroma is a bit weak. I smell a rather sour coffee aroma though. I hoped for a clearer coffee character. Hops give some lovely woody and earthy aromas, that are a perfect fit for the malt aromas. Nice smell. The taste of the beer is lovely to. Again, it is not as coffee-like as I expected, but it still is a lovely beer. The beer has a lovely sweetness from the malts and a touch of chocolate. It is not to sweet. Lovely. Hops give some nice bitters, so does the coffee and the roasted barley. Hops also give a touch of acidity. There is also a rather sour coffee flavour. Yeast seems to give a slight spicy touch. All in all, the beer is just a bit to 'wry', and a bit dry. It is not completely balanced. The palate of the beer is good. Full body, slightly sticky texture, especially right before the finish, and medium carbonation. Alcohol gives a nice tingle and plenty of warmth. The finish is fine. It has some red fruit, sour coffee touch and some spicy hops. It is not to long. All in all, a very nice Imperial Stout, bit I expected more. It isn't that espresso like to be honest. It should have more and clearer coffee, both in the smell as in the taste. But, besides this, it is delicious.
