3.4 On tap at Mekong. Poured a medium amber, slight head. Aroma is lightly of malts, fruity notes of raisin and plum. Flavor is a match. Medium bodied. Sort of a standard abbey dubbed. Not bad, but nothing to get too excited over.
3.4 From a 33 cl bottle at home. Pours a hazy reddish bronze with a thick off white head. Malty nose with a hint of banana. Flavors of butterscotch. Highly carbonated and somewhat thin mouthfeel.
3.2 33 cl. bottle @ home, bought online @ Drankgigant. Hazy amber with an off-white head. Malty nose with some hints of apples and pears. Taste is malty with some spices like cinnamon with some caramel sweetness and hoppiness. Medium long slighty bitter aftertaste. Nice beer,
3.4 Bottle@home. One finger foam. Goldenbrown clear. Nutty Caramalty notes. Very dry clean taste. Nice.
3.1 Twelve ounce bottle from Food N Fermentation. A big active beige head finally manages to subside. Sticky lacing remains. The beer under is hazed copper with carbonation visible. The aroma is spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg with fruit underneath. Those spices are tasted along with yeast. This is a little odd. Sweet malts and dark over ripe fruit. Some pepper is tasted mid glass along with some hop notes. This falls well short of great.
2.9 Draft. Small off-white head, clear amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, berry, some cantaloupe, candi sugar, alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, cantaloupe, some blueberry. Medium body, low carbonation, some stickiness.
3.5 Big bubblegum aroma with a strong vein of green apple. Flavor has cellar notes, wood, rich fruit, bourbon...wait, no...brandy?... and a lightly malty, bready finish. Amber color. Decent. (on tap, the Muddy Pig, St. Paul)
3.3 (Bottle). The smell and the taste is slightly sweet but also fresh and tangy with flavors of flowers, fruity caramel and yeast. In the aftertaste there is a lingering mild bitterness.
3.1 Tap - average size foamy head, nice medium copper color, sweet malt and Belgian aroma and flavor, kind of a licorice/medicine kind of flavor too
3.4 Bottled, 330ml from Burg Bieren, Ermelo, Netherlands. Copper with off white head. Heavy toffee caramel flavours from the off, sweet and syrupy in a big boil of middling malts. Some herby, yeasty flavours find their way through, even a lemony hop note at one point. Heavy Belgian Strong though.
3.2 Clear dark amber with a big and lasting off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dark fruit and yeasty. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. High carbonation. 260512
2.4 8th July 2009 Cloudy amber beer. Dry palate, low carbonation. Dry dusty malt. Light touch of spice and a little honey. Uninspiring and boring.
2.3 Draft at Eulogy. Poured a cloudy carmel brown. Foamy white head left a little runny lace. Some untoasted grain flavors. Some carmel notes but not particularly sweet. Tastes like a very watered down dubbel. Slight sour and bitter present, but still more a ghost of a beer.
2.6 Inte tillräckligt kraftfullt för att lämna några avtryck. Tenderar att gå en förbi. Lite svag eftersmak.
3.0 330mL bottle. Pours a murky copper honey with frothy head that remains. Smells like an abbey ale should, malty and a bit sweet. Taste is watery, two-dimensional. No aftertaste. "All that is from Belgium, is not gold."
3.3 Tap. Pours clear dark amber with a medium, fizzy white head, medium retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is caramel and cookie malt, earthy and herbal hops, oxidation and dates. Flavor is malt dominant with light alcohol, dark fruity esters, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Full body, medium warmth and carbonation.
3.0 Pour is a amber with a large white head. Aroma is some caremel with Belgian yeast. Flavor is about the same some caramel malt with a green hop and tons of carbonation. Finish has some mustyness. Its ok but not flavorful enough to score this higher.
3.6 330 ml bottle a red brown colored beer with a white head aroma malts spicy sweetness citrus and hops flavor malts spicy caramel fruits citrus and some hops
2.9 Clear amber colour, beige head. Malty aroma, caramel, sweet malty flavour. Rather middle of the road. (From 33cL bottle @ ’t Brouwershuis, Baarle-Hertog)
2.6 Draft. Clear bright amber color, no head. Aroma and taste of caramel soda. Plain stuff.
2.8 Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Aroma of fruits, yeast, a bit of caramel and honey and light spiciness. Sweetish flavor, a bit caramelly, with fruity yeast and some drier spiciness. Medium-bodied with strong carbonation. OK.
2.9 draft at Blue Monk, Buffalo. Golden orange pour. Fruity drven flavor, jammy flavor, Pretty flat flavor, almost dusty & old. Pretty pedestrian IMO.
2.9 Draught at Churchkey. Clear amber pour. Clear amber pour with notes of caramel, grain, and touches of sweet yeast and spice. Very underwhelming, and nothing notable whatsoever.
3.2 Chevy Chase, DC 11.2oz ($5): Pours a pretty amber color with a an almost pinkish head. Aroma is of Belgian yeast and hops. Taste is of ephemerally powerful hops, which seem to lose much of their force by the finish of the beer, by which time the beer is merely sweet and a tad soapy; however, some of the hops provide a mild, but pleasant, aftertaste. The texture of this beer is almost watery, although I cannot say that the beer is lacking in body. Do I like this beer? Yeah. It is good. Do I think that this is well crafted? No, not really.
3.5 Draught at TND: Aroma of malt, raisins, dark ripe fruit, and some yeast. Poured amber in color with a small, creamy, dense, tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Hazy. Not sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malt, Belgian yeast, medicine, raisins, grapes, and some caramel. Medium body. Slick texture. Average carbonation. Medium sweet, malt, yeast, raisin, slight medicine finish is lightly dry. 7%ABV is completely hidden throughout.
3.2 (Bottle 03/12-2011) large beige head, clear amber color, yeast aroma, medium co2, little thin in the taste. BB date 01/08/2012.
3.7 Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Moderate malty and hoppy and yeasty aroma. Moderate bitter nice fruity flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate. Nice.
3.1 Bottle. Dark amber wit big tan head. Aroma is malt, yeast, dark fruits and caramel. Flavour is malt, yeast, caramel, fruit. spices, hops, little sweet, little metallic and medium bitter.
3.3 Vrij troebel cola-kleurig bier, met lichte kraag. De smaak is overheersend rozijnen en wat vanille. Een aangenaam bier dat wel in staat is om je op te warmen tijdens de koude winterdagen!
