Ename Dubbel

Ename Dubbel

Full flavour in the mouth, balanced, spicy and fruity. This sums up this dark abbey beer, which is re-fermented in the bottle. You get aromas of caramel and sweet fruit, taste caramel, toasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol and bitter hops right down to the dry finish. Everything is beautifully balanced.

4.0 Dark ruby-brown with a beige head. Rich malty aroma. Taste is a blend of malty flavoury, but not the sweet kind, accompanied by a gentle but distinct bitterness. Underneath are some fruity notes. Good.
3.0 Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is dark malt with caramel, dried fruits, raisins, and spicy yeast. Flavour is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Body is medium. Pretty average Dubbel, not bad but nothing special either.
3.1 Bottle @ home. Brown w a tan head. Aroma medium malty (caramel, roasted, dark fruit). Flavor medium sweet, light bitter. Medium body, medium carbonated.
Beetje flauwtjes allemaal.
2.9 light sweetish, caramelly, some licorice, somewhat sticky, hops/bitter spices, rather harsch lingering aftertaste. 13 in a dozen.
3.3 Fles 33cl thuis. Wat vlakke dubbel, niet te zoet. (4-2012).----------------.
3.0 Flaske fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø - Langnes. Dyp brun. Middels høyt kremaktig skum. Sherryaroma. Litt bær i bakgrunnen. Smaken søt sherry & bær. Sånn passe.
3.1 Bottle. MBR. Hazy dark brown-amber. Lasting beige head. Stale apple esters and maltiness in the aroma. Intensively dusty, oxidation perhaps.... Just... Stale. Taste... Metallic, nickels, raisin, stale apple, vague caramel. Errrr... Eh. Okay at best.
3.4 Dark brown beer with huge lively and longlasting beige head. Aroma is spicy, fruity, caramel and some alcohol. Taste is soft sweet and moderate bitter hops at the end. Dry finish. Medium body. Overall fine dubbel.

3.9 From old tasting notes. Deep reddish brown color with a dense bubbly tan head. Rich earthy malt nose. Complex, malty flavor hints ar currants, molasses. Long dry malt finish has a chewy mouthfeel.
3.3 Draught. Deep brown. Huge beige head. Estery nose. Prunes. Caramel. Similar taste. Medium body.
3.2 Clear dark brown body with red hue, small brown head. Aroma is classic dubbel, dark dried fruit, and brown sugar. Taste is similar, sweet but not too sweet, even some bitterness in aftertaste. Grapes and chocolate. Medium body, soft carbonation. A fine dubbel.
3.5 Glas. Dark brown beer, small head. Aroma is malt, caramel, fruit. Taste is the same. Sweet with some bitter. Not bad.
3.2 Pours hazy brown with an lasting, small, frothy, tan head. The aroma contains roasted malt, nuts, caramel, chocolate, herbs, dried fruits, vague hint of iron. It tastes light caramelly sweet and medium herbal bitter, notes of yeast & nuts. Dry, herbal hoppy finish, slightly metallic. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. A bit too subtle in taste perhaps, but still a decent Dubbel.
2.6 33cl-fles tijdens de les Zythologie in Syntra Kortrijk. U: Licht wazig bruin met een beige schuimkraag. G: Moutig, wat brood, kaf en kruiden. S: Zoet me een zeer lichte moutbitterheid. Karamel, kruiden, gist en wat metallisch. M: Niet zo volmondig met medium carbonatie.
2.6 Bottled 330ml. -from www.beershop.hr Unclear amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, sweet caramel nose. Sweet malty, strong caramel, brown sugar and notes of dried fruits with notes of plums in the finish. No trace of alcohol but overall sweet and boring.
3.4 Bottle shared with Deanso. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, herbs, malt and caramel. Flavour is above moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
2.9 En bouteille 33 cl. Pas si mal cette dubbel mais peu de caractères : un peu de sucre, un peu de fruits noirs, un peu d’alcool, un peu ... finalement peu de choses à en dire mais pas ’à jeter’ !
3.4 Brown color, thick tan head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, chocolate. Taste is similar, malty, some roastiness, caramel, chocolate, dark fruits. Medium body, very soft carbonation.
3.2 33cl bottle. Pours clear reddish brown colour with a huge good lasting tan head. Aroma of red fruits and dark malt. Taste of dark malt, medium sweet fruits, red fruits, caramel.
3.2 No detail information about the malts, hops or drinktemperature on the bottle. Dark-brown beer with big stable cappuccino head, smell is first sour after malty, yeast is here not dominated, light roasty, (I have 0.33l bottle with batch L7149 10:34 and best-before 22.02.2018)
3.2 Bottle sourced from Toft Vin, Copenhagen – dark amber to brown pour with small off white head. Sweet malty with notes of caramel and treacle, some vague dried fruit shred, yeast, brown sugar, medium to light spices in the finish.
3.0 330ml bottle at Sandford Park Alehouse. Pours dark brown with a small white head. Aromas of toffee, malt, some sharpness evident in the aroma. Taste is quite sharp and bitter, especially for the style, some sweetness, but somewhat overshadowed.
3.2 Tap. Pours clear dark amber with lazing beige head. Aroma has malt with biscuit, caramel and some roasted tones and semi-sweet nutty. Taste is malty with bread, caramel, nuts, some roasted notes and hints of grassy hops. Finish is balanced malty, sweet and dry.
2.9 From tap. Pours light hazy dark brown with an off white head. Aroma of light smoke, caramel, red berries, light nutty, maybe some diacetyl? Taste is a sweet caramel, toffee, light toasted notes, grassy, hints of butter. Not my thing at all. The description calls this "Slighly sweet". That has to be the understatement of the year.
