4.0 12% can. Pours a thick black beverage with a large creamy tan head. Aroma: chocolate, cacao nibs, some coconut, nuts, oak, hint of whisky, roasted malt. Taste: cacao, dark chocolate, some chocolatey sweetness, coffee, hint of red berries, wood and whisky. Thick mouthfeel. Full body.
3.8 @ Gammelgårdsvägen 27/10-22. Can from Systembolaget. Roasted malty with coffee, chocolate and wood. Body is medium, the finish is roasted with coffee, chocolate and wood.
Gott
4.1 Pours licorice brown with a tan head that foams and fades to nothing. Aroma is cocoa and bourbon that explodes on the tongue. Rich and smooth blend of cocoa, whiskey, coffee, licorice, vanilla. Very mild roasty bitterness to close. Not overly sweet. Not too boozy. Quite cloying and moderately dry; low carbonation. Has the character, though not the taste, of a dopplelbock.
3.9 Black color, minimal brown head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and slight bourbon. Taste of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, alcohol and raisins.
3.9 Can from Systembolaget. Best by 2027. Pitch black with a nice thick brown head that lace the glass. Nutty sweet chocolate and nutmeg aroma. Slight whisky note perhaps, but mostly sweet rich chocolate. Not a ton of whisky in the taste either. Chocolate and coffee dominates here. Taste is sweet and rich but not overpowering at all. Body is big but not as big and syrupy as it so often gets. It's extremely drinkable for being 12%! Definitely a tasty stout, but I wouldn't say it had a lot of barrel flavour.
3.6 [Sol og Vind, Beder] Aroma: Roasted malt, tobacco, ryebread, whiskey, and slight spices Appearance: Pitch black with an everlasting brown head Taste: Mildly sweet and heavily bitter, roasted malt, tobacco, dried dark fruits, whiskey, dark roasted coffee and spices Mouthfeel: Watery-oily mouthfeel with soft carbonation Overall: Insanely roasted malt, whiskey and tobacco character. Not really my thing, but I can definitely see the appeal ☺️
4.3 Opaque black beer with a slight brown/dark brown head. Medium aroma; taste starts medium/heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Wood, whiskey, fruit, vanilla, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee. 7/5/9/5
4.0 Appearance: Very dark brown, near black. Very dark tan head. Aroma: Very dark malt, coffee and cocoa. Lightly roasted. Taste: Roasted, very dark malt. Cocoa and coffee. Some alcohol, warming. Slight barrel. Bought: Courtesy of Nordcore, 650 ml Info: 24/7-2022, BB: 1/1-2023
3.8 Black with a medium but short lived light brown head. Aroma of cocoa, coffee, roasted malt and some dried fruit sense. Sweet with a warm long cocoa, coffee and roasted ending. Full bodied, like ABV 11,1. Bb 1.1.2023
3.9 Tap@Skaal, Copenhagen (24/06/2022) - black with a tan head. Dark malty sweet and roasted with lots of chocolate and coffee roast, full bodied, vanilla and bourbon into the lingering malty finish. Great stuff.
3.8 Draft. A black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and bourbon. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate, and coffee, leading to a dry finish.
4.0 Can @ HJ Hansen, Odense. Pours Black with a small creamy head. Good roast, ashes, coffee and licorice. Vinous and full bodied with a complimentary oaky touch. Very tasty. Dry roasted bitter finish.
4.1 Copenhagen 30/5 2022. 35,5 cl can from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. Black can with a drawing of the big bad Baptist in white. Drinking an Imperial Stout, of course. The version I am drinking "only" holds an ABV of 12,0, Pours opaque, dark brown with a mid-sized beige head. Stable. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing. Aroma is medium intense with a dark, sweet and boozy odor. Bitter-sweet cocoa and dark chocolate. Abit of licorice. Sweet ark alcohol peeking in. Woody and bitter-sweet. Light carbonation. Thick, viscous, oily, soft, smooth, creamy, lightly tingling texture. Flavor is intensewith a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet and boozy undertone. A bit searing. Lingering. Finish is like a neat Bourbon with dry touch. I do appreciate the BigBad Baptist tastier Stout.
3.7 Canned 355ml. -at Goblet Zagreb. 11.5%ABV. Pitch black coloured, medium sized brownish head, coffee and light whisky in the nose. Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, notes of whisky and light vanilla with noticable alcohol.
3.6 Bottle pour. Deep brown, almost black. Hint of mint on the aroma. Notes of chocolate, coffee but a very strong fennel flavor. I think it’s supposed to be mint but the fennel really distracts from everything else.
4.3 (Can) clear, bright, very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of soy sauce, chocolate liqueur, milk chocolate; creamy palate; dryish flavour with a long, light bitter finish
4.3 Can from the Brewer’s Haven, December 2021. Finally got my hands on this and in 12oz can nonetheless! Dark brown color with a thick brown head. Full aroma of espresso, roast, and cocoa, light whiskey barrel notes. The barrel notes come out in the taste; sweet and smooth to compliment the coffee and roast. Excellent beer, need to my hands on more.
4.2 Opened while getting the turkey ready, a sipper that lasted through the night, rich, a bit strong on the coffee, quite similar to the DDC recently tasted.
3.6 Can at home, Nivala. Enjoyed straight from the can. Aromas and flavours: Coffee, some sugary sweetness, some chocolate, some bourbon... pretty easy but enjoyable.
4.1 Roasted malt. Cocoa. Booze. Opaque black with a dark tan head. Better retention than I would have expected but still fizzes away pretty quick. Thick mouthfeel. A little chewy. Cocoa. Toffee. Boozy finish. Outstanding.
4.2 On tap at Region Ake, Schererville, IN. Pors an opaque dark brown/black with mocha head that leaves spots of lacing. Aroma has coffee, cocoa, vanilla, oak, and licorice. Taste is slightly sweet with complex rich flavors. Body is full with a velvety, slightly slick mouthfeel and light carbonation. Excellent.
4.1 Bottle at home. Three year old. Has a dark brown to black colour with a smal beige head. Aroma of coffee (!), chocolate truffles, oak, tobacco, bourbon and leather. Flavour of roasted malt, oak, lactose, dark chocolate, coffee and ash in the end. Has a slick mouth feel, full-bodied and a light to medium bitterness. Well-roasted and rich with lots of coffee.
4.2 When we explained to Benny from Carwyn Cellars about our chessey beers tasting plans, the very first drink he brought us to was this maculate stout! BANG! From the first sip, immediately you take in the coffee flavour, closely followed by a thick dark textured liquid that brings back memories of Titanic and Pulp Fiction. Each sip reminded me of my childhood sipping a vanilla shake - slowly and gently. All in all, very flavoursome, strong content and very dessert like. Pleasantly enjoyable.
Briljant.
