Brainless Belgian-Style Golden Ale is has a rich and complex malt flavor balanced with a little bit of spicy noble hops and strong influences of fermentation esters from the Belgian yeast used. Various Belgian like Rock Candies, hops and grains are employed to express variations within the style. Deceivingly drinkable, some liken theses ales to the Devil sneaking up on you, so consume responsibly.

3.6A good golden ale from Epic. Plenty of malty flavors no hoppy bitterness. Pours a nice golden color would recommend.

3.5Release #85, SLC, 8.9% abv. Pours a slightly cloudy gold color, with a white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, fruits, and candy. Taste is a bit sweet, with lots of the Belgian complexity, mixed with a nice golden ale. A very nice blend, thumbs up!
4.0Aroma is cheese. Which makes the delicious Belgian strong flavor so surprising. Nice subtle spiciness is offset by a plum sweetness.
3.5Bottle from Market Street. Pours golden with a small white fizzy head. The aromas are bubblegum, yeast, skunk. The mouthfeel is dry and yeasty with a light body and plenty of carbonation. Cheers!
3.3Tap, gold pour, white head, nose is citrus, taste is citrus, banana, mild, okay beer
3.6Bottle at the brewery. Pours clear bright gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like yeast, sweet dried fruits, bubblegum, banana. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like yeast, bubblegum, and sweet dried fruit.
3.3Golden sweet yeast flavor comes through. Thin head. Sweet not much malt. Golden ale.
1.7Thank you gentlefolk! Sampled 650 ml. bottle @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Presumably 2 years old but no dating. A Belgian-style should handle some aging usually right? It was kept in a fridge for nearly the whole duration. Nose is golden, with a crazy amount of floaties, little white bubbles for a head. Watery nose, cold water, iron, spoiled yeast, rotting dough,… Taste is old nasty rotting dough & yeast, ditch water, iron, hay, chemical, spoiled soy cheese,… Thin, watery, rotting, metallic,… Awful really. Totally past it, let us hope that it was the age but a beer really shouldn’t deteriorate that badly that quickly now should it esp. in this style?
3.5Bomber bottle poured a clear golden hue w/ small quickly diminishing white fizzy head and minimal lacing. Sweet fruity almost apple aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a light bitter finish.Tastes are fruity banana esters, white grape, apple, and Belgian yeast. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation, and a dry warm finish.
3.7650ml bottle. Will try to decifer scribbled notes on a scrap of paper. Pure golden pour with consistent haze. Aromas of coriander, banana and predominant yeasty notes. 8.5 abv nicely hidden. Finish was pleasant with lingering spicy notes. Bottle says release #32.
3.6Really hazy gold pour. White head. Aroma is yeasty, wine-y, some spice. Sweet and estery taste. Big body. Medium carbonation.
3.7from Erzbierschof - clear golden-blond beer under a long lasting white foam; estery and spicy aroma with strong notes of ripe fruits; a fair sweetness, aftertaste of marzipan, ripe yellow fruits and yeast
3.710 oz goblet at the brewery. Pours gold with active carbonation. The nose is phenolic with clove up front and hints at ripe fruit, coriander, banana, pepper and hay. The body is full with a well rounded and balanced sweetness. The alcohol is hidden. It’s a touch too clovey for me, but it isn’t obnoxious. Plenty of yeast notes play off the sweetness, giving this a fruity, spicy character. It finishes with a nice spicy note to balance things out. This one is pretty good, certainly for the price.
3.2Bottle, release #74. Pours an incredibly clear gold with a high, medium-grained, white, lacy head. The nose has malic, phenolic, and yeasty elementsl, along with a biscuity, toasty undertone.Sweet at the front at the tongue -- surprisingly so -- right in the apple/orange range, and that sweetness never really lets up, though there’s some bitterness on the midpalate. There was a heavy hand with the rock candy sugar, to be sure. Finish is mellow and, yes, sweet. Not bad if you’re into the sweet stuff, but I have a little disconnect between the color and the RS.
3.4Rich biscuit malt, sweet honey, mild orange, yeast, pepper, sweet finish. Decent one, a bit like a strong sweet Leffe Blonde.
3.222 oz bottle from Bloomfield Costco. Release #74 - ABV = 9.3%. High alcohol content comes through smell and taste. Consistent in aroma, appearance and taste with other Belgian tripels I’ve had. For high ABV, small but pleasant aftertaste. Not sure if I’d buy again but I’d try another Epic Brewing beer for sure.
3.4Pours a cloudy orangish gold color. Aroma and taste are sweet with caramel and honey.
2.4650ml bottle (BierKompass.de)
Typical saison yeast aroma. Slightly sweet grungy taste. Finish is a bit hot, definitely. Typical saison yeast taste. But so much booze. Rough, vegetal, and boozy. Of all the "saison" fashion-following beers, this is a new low.
2.2660ml bottle. Slightly hazy amber color. Small size, bubbly head, disappears. Oranges, fruity, bit farty, slightly shitty aroma. Holy mary and joseph! It’s 30C outside and I’m semi dehydrated and I’m struggling to drink that. Why? Because it’s a mess. Epic fail to imidate Belgians.
3.4Hazy golden color, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is yeast, lightly spicy, pale malt, lightly sugary. Medium bodied, moderate to low sweetness, alcohol hidden well.
3.8Draft at Barrelhouse 101. Nose is candisugar, cloves, bubblegum, and raisins. Hazy amber with a small beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet, spicy, and only a tiny bit of bitter.
4.5Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a snifter and a tulip. The appearance and smell were basically the same in both bottles.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy yet glossy burnt orange to ruddy brown color. The head was about a finger’s worth of white foaminess coating the top of the beer nicely. The head gracefully died at a nice pace leaving a nice clingy light foaminess around the sides of the glass.
The smell had a nice authentic Belgian spiciness intertwining itself in between sweet malts and even letting in some light oranges to intermingle and dance underneath my nose.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and seemed like it was almost perfectly blended into a really nice flavoring all around.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a sessionability that wanted to show but alas, it could not prove itself to be so. No worries as a sipper, this one danced around my palate skirting a sharpness to pummel but still allowing a nice gentle rolling smoothness every now and again.
Overall, this was an absolutely wonderful offering from Epic more than worthy of having again.
3.2(bottle - 22 oz - batch #35) Clear gold pour with a thick white head. Light spice and yeast aroma, Some hops under it as well. Sweet at the start of the flavor with a mild spice an yeast followup. Not much in the way of hops. A bit bland and unexciting.
3.3On tap at the Denver brewery. Pour is clear golden with a small white head and decent lacing. Musty, phenolic, light banana, white pepper, herbs, biscuit, grass, lemons, and honey in the aroma. Taste is biscuit, wax, phenols, basil, coriander, Belgian yeast, and fruits with a slightly spicy finish and alcohol on the backend. Light body with medium carbonation. Not bad.
3.0Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright apricot color with a small soapy-foamy white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was faint and tangy with notes of bread, chamomile and a hint of alcohol. The flavor was tangy sugar, bread, honey, a hint of chamomile and a hint of golden fruits. Medium length tangy sugar, honey and chamomile finish. Moderately full bodied. Disappointing.
