4.3 Slightly cloudy golden with a thin foamy and very Lacey white cap. Lovely aroma of fresh cut grass and slightly fruity Belgian yeast esters, and a touch of tangerine. Lovely flavor, just lovely, with flavors of grassy leafy hops, clean pale malt, a bit of floral resiny flavors with low bitterness, maybe a touch of dandelion, and finishes dry and slightly dusty and estery. Very delightful.
4.0 On tap at the American Craft Beer Experience. Epic brainless IPA is a cloudy honey gold with a foamy light beige head. A nice bready funky. Belgian aroma, medium bodied and damn smooth. The taste is clean belgian yeast with some hoppy bite. Great.
3.9 On tap at Epic Brewing in Denver. Pours a hazy golden orange colour with a frothy off white head. Aroma is of citrus hops, slight spice, and Belgian yeast. Taste is moderately sweet throughout but balanced by a nice lingering bitterness. Medium body, smooth on the palate, and well carbonated. Overall a really unique and good IPA.
3.8 4/13/15. From bottle. Hazy light amber. Belgian yeast, pine, tropical fruit. Bitter flavors, caramel, hops, citrus leading to a dry finish.
3.7 Bottle from the brewery. Pours hazy amber with a thick, bubbly, frothy off white head. Tastes like grapefruit, nutty malt, light resin, light pine, caramel, light yeast and banana. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like nutty malt, grapefruit, caramel, and light resin light yeast, light banana.
3.8 Bottle. Pours hazy amber with off-white head. Aroma is bready and cereal malts, candi sugar, Belgian yeast esters, floral notes, and faint orange peel. Flavor is medium hop bitterness, tasty yeast esters, bready malt base, and faint citrus notes. Medium body.
3.6 22 oz bottle, my bottle reads release #23? Pours hazy orange with a huge at least three finger white head and cobwebby lace. Aroma is fresh hops, it actually smells like fresh picked off the vine hops, strong lupulin, citrus, piney, medium weight malt. The taste is very much like the aroma, there is a nice fruity Belgian quality, strong citrus, yeasty, sturdy bitterness with enough complexity to not be overbearing. The carbonation could have been higher, a bit soft. Decent, I assumed the Brainless series was all about fruit, but i guess not. After i posted my review i went on their website and looked up some stuff, i now realize this bottle that i am now drinking and rated relatively high was bottled on 8-25-14, over seven months ago. This still tastes good, assuming from the Belgian influence, but would love to try a fresher bottle.
3.5 On tap at Epic meet the brewer event at Watering Hole. Orange amber color with a nice soapy eggshell head. Resiny hops, grass on the nose with caramel, toffee and roasted malt present as well. Nice bitter finish. Well-balanced albeit boring IPA.
3.3 (Tap) clear golden amber colour with a small beige head, aroma starts with citrus, then bit of bread; balanced flavor with a long light bitter finish
3.6 Bottle during RBWG. Pours a cloudy yellow with medium white head. The aroma is floral hop and pine. Thin mouth with light pine and sweet hop, light bitterness, very good.
3.6 22oz (650ml) bottle at The Great Beer Experiment in Singapore. Cloudy amber colour with a medium sized white head. Aroma of floral hops, pine and fruit. Slightly bitter orange citrus fruit taste. Hops and some malt. Fruity bitter end.
2.7 Aroma of hops and pine sap. Cloudy amber color with a lasting white head. Chalky dry taste with hints of hops. Dry minearl finish.
3.7 Pours very light golden with bubbles rising slowly to the surface. Initially there was almost no head, but eventually a small white head built from beneath. Aroma of citrus, honey and a hint of green grass. Definitely has a Belgian flavor to it - a bit malty for an IPA and also vert smooth in the mouth. Balanced with a nice citrus flavor and a reasonable hop flavor, though these beer is by no means overhopped or bitter. I enjoyed drinking this beer and it was flavorful without being overdone.
3.1 Release #16 almost a year later. No bueno. Hmmm...need to remember to check batch releases before I get excited about something. I’m still here, and drinking and tasting despite the age on the bottle. And, despite the age on the bottle, the aroma spilling from the snifter is quite nice; spicy, clove-infused plums and some light hops present right there in the mix. Not as heavy as I would have liked, but considering the age... The head is thick, soft and white and as it disappears, it leaves a wet map trail on the glass. Not sticky, but sticking. Okay, so far, so good. First pull from the glass. In the words of a friend...meh. The flavor is a dud in comparison to the aroma and I’m underwhelmed by the feel of this in my mouth. I can’t find anything but ripe, spicy banana and what is there is doesn’t do much for my tasters. Blasé, on all counts but the aroma; the flat, slightly sour fruits with a bitter back end make me think that the flavor wasn’t a humdinger when it first came out. I definitely should have had a fresher brew to review, and I’ll look for one to make sure I give this a chance, but I don’t have very high hopes.
3.7 Poured from bottle, pours a hazy orange with a thick white head and some lacing in the glass, the aroma has a good amount of hops and floral hops with quite a bit of tropical fruit, the flavor has a mango and fruity front end with a finish of citrus hops, not overly bitter but it seems like it works out pretty well, nice.
3.9 tap - Pours hazy orange with a small head. It smells of citrus and floral hops. The flavor has good, strong bitter with ample citrus character. There’s the expected long, bitter finish. Crisp and tasty. It’s a very well crafted IPA.
3.8 Hazy orange colored pour. Big off white head. Little bit of lacing. Malty aroma with notes of orange. Big malt taste and a nice citrusy hop note.
2.9 22oz. bottle (Release#18) served in shaker- poured a heavily murky faded copper/orange color that was not transparent, very foamy and thick one finger white head formed and laced very nicely upon the vessel. Aroma of citrus and pine. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt is thrown in with some caramel but it’s a little done in haste, middle has an uneven hop crescent, finish is mildly acidic. yet another disappointed New Year’s Beer- yea!
3.8 Bomber. Pours a cloudy orange with a beige head and aroma of citrus and fruits. Taste is hoppy with spices apparent along with fruits, citrus, grapefruit, and yeast leading to a bitter, dry finish
3.6 With Z, pours a copper orange color witha nice head. Nose is hoppy and bitter. Taste is bitter citrus with some yeast. Finish is dry, bitter and moderately long. Quaff score 7 / 10
4.8 Nice hoppy IPA that stands up to the best. Tasted it next to Epic Hopulent IPA which is 2 % stronger. Both were delicious. To be honest. Perhaps I’d drink the Brainless IPA because i may be vertical longer and may enjoy another. I like the stronger IPA too but I actually thought the Brainless was just perfect. Great malty flavor, hop character was fully potent and I thought I tasted the hops in this IPA as much as the much stronger Hopulent IPA.
4.2 22 oz bottle. Aroma: malty and citrusy, with hints of clove, pineapple, and peppercorns. Taste/Palate: sweet and crisp; finishes bitter.
3.6 Poured from a 22. Looks like a nice refreshing beer. Aroma is tropical and bready. Flavor has a tropical sweetness to it with a bready, vegetable finish. Has some of the normal belgian skunk to it, but not as strong as a full on belgian ale.
4.0 22oz bottle - Aroma - resionous hops, apricot/pepper jam, rose petals..yeah Appearance - 4-finger fluffy white head, hazy golden body, above average retention, average lacing Mouthfeel - medium/full bodied, medium carbonation, velvety Flavor - complex array of pitted fruit and tropical fruits, light biscuity malts take a backset..hops on full display Overall - hop instense IPA, could pass for a Cali brewed IPA
4.0 Poured a slightly opaque orange with a lacy head. Mild hops in the mouth, likely tamped down by the yeast.
3.2 Bottle, release #20. Cloudy deep gold with a high, large-grained, lacy, cream-colored head. Nose is grapefruit, lavender, funk, and bitter orange. Lots of orange up front, followed by a slightly astringent and anaesthetic hops bitterness; carbonation is surprisingly low, and there’s not a lot of phenols involved. Relatively mild on the tongue compared to the nose. Finish is long with a treacly sweetness. Nice.
3.6 Bottle. Eucalyptus/orange malt and grapefruit peel aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet floral orange malt and moderately bitter pine/eucalyptus flavor. Nice - unique.
4.2 Slight haze in this orange pour with white head. Aroma is hops, orange and spice. Taste is the same with theorange front.
3.0 Bottle poured a murky brownish-orange hue w/ a medium creamy white head and sticky lacing. Moderate spicy aroma. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a moderate bitter finish. Tastes are peppercorn, apricot, fruity esters, and a grassy finish. Full bodied and creamy mouthfeel.
3.8 Bottle: release #18, 6.6% Cloudy, amber-orange with a small, off-white head. Nectarine, pineapple, orange, mango aroma. Taste is sweet, tropicals.......spicy, orange-peel bitter. Very tasty.
