Epic Hopulent IPA

Epic Hopulent IPA

Hopulent IPA is a big beer with lots of complex malt flavor and excessive hops. This beer will have changes to the grain bill and seasonal hop changes. The character of Hopulent IPA is over the top, too much of everything—a real HOP HEADS DELIGHT!

3.5 Pours hazy orange with nice head. Aroma: a lot of citrus and tropical fruit. Taste: nice fruity with proper bitterness.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is dank, peach, booze. Taste is dank peach, grapefruit, grainy, citrusy. Medium carbonation, warming finish. Fun!
3.5 Bottle. Sweaty, orange peel nose. Cloudy orange, of white lace. Broad citrus cat hop, medium light body, catty/sweaty/citrus and cardboard finish.
3.4 Bottle from Utah State Liquor Store. Pine resin aroma. Floral taste with some light fruit. Mildly bitter finish. Good!
3.6 Pours creamy yellow, sticky beige foam and slight haze. Aroma is sweetish, you can feel that they were not stingy on the malts, this reveals quite decent and powerful body - and hints higher ABV. Sugary tropical fruits. Taste is nicely hoppy, hops are balancing the sweetness but well, it still shines through. Herbal and grassy feel, some ripe peaches and pears underneath. Pretty good but a little to sweet for me at this moment for some reason.
3.6 Bomber - the appearance is a clear rich golden yellow with a thick straw colored head that dissipates. The aroma is citrus peel and juice, prairie grass and a hint of bready malt. Not a huge hop bomb but more balanced with a significant malt contribution. Good but boring combination of citrusy hops and bready malts. Meh
3.5 Bottle to glass. Pours clear copper with moderate white head. Moderate piney and resin hops. Generally very tasty, but as it warmed it became rather malt driven and slightly cloying from the malt and sugar.
3.6 On nitro draft at Mindful. Poured copper with creamy off white head, beautiful lacing. Sweet malt, soft pine resin. Creamy and smooth.
3.8 (Bottle) Amber colour, slightly hazy with rocky beige head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of caramel, citrus, orange peel, marmalade, apricots, black-currant, rye bread and fresh hops. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, orange peel, pink grapefruit, apricot marmalade, rye bread, burnt sugar, pears and a generous citric bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Solid and well made DIPA. Very nice.
3.6 Bottle at BBF. Amber colour with white head. Fruit, pineapple aroma. Sweet, tropical fruit, pineapple taste. Medium body.
3.4 Bottle tasted on the 25/03/2017 at the Barcelona Beer Festival. First beer from Utah, John Stockton in memoriam. Clear golden colour with a medium average white head. Aroma of grains, citrus hops and some yeast. Taste is balanced between malts and hops. Not bad. Next one please!
3.5 Release #163 if that matters. Pours a few fingers of head on a slightly hazy straw body. Aroma is a slightly danky lemon and orange. Taste is fairly bitter, tends grapefruit and pineapple, a bit danky and dark. Texture is thicker. Enjoyable.
2.9 had on tap a few times, a very mundane india pale. grass and sap, with lots of older hop flavors. not the best effort from epic utah
3.4 Sampled on draft at tapped this beer poured a slightly hazy golden color with a huge foamy white head that lingered and left incredible lacing. The aroma was bitter with fruity hops, pine, and somewhat sweet tropical fruits. The flavor was bitter, grainy and sweet with pine, fruity hops, tropical fruit and cactus. Long mixed hop finish. Moderately full bodied. Ok.
3.6 4 oz pour on nitro at Spacebar. Clear golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, floral. Tastes of citrus, floral, biscuit, stone fruit. Medium body with a dry finish. Slightly creamy mouthfeel from the nitro pour.
2.5 Tasted by Cannery Row Beer Club. We didn't prefer this beer. This didn't have an IPA flavor. Cheers!
3.4 Release #78. Gold to amber in color. Tall taupe colored head. Fairly standard hop aroma. Mild citrus, light fruit and bit of pale to lightly toasted malt. Sweet start, with peaches, pear and melon. Strong bitterness kicks in mid quaff, with earth wood and licorice. Very dry and bitter in the finish and into the linger. Too dry and bitter in the end for me to call this really enjoyable. 12/13
3.5 defaulting a bit here on the rating because i had on nitro. I could tell this was a solid overall beer. the nitro added a creaminess that i don’t think suited the style. Will update if i try again
3.8 Aroma is earthy and dank. Flavor is bitter, piney and dank. Light mouthfeel. Pours a hazy copper with a thin cream head
3.6 light amber with a creamy light beige head. Aromas of fruit, resin and light caramel. Full bodied. Flavor is resin, fruit, light citrus, juicy orange, tangerine moderately bitter hops character that has floral and citrus notes
3.6 (Tap) clear, bright Amber colour with a small beige head; aroma of citrus, jam; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish
3.8 Tap at Clubhouse BFD. Pours honey color. White head. Aroma is lots of citrus, mango, tropical fruits, orange, tangerine, apricot. Nice. Flavor is orange, mango, apricot, tropical notes. Medium to late bitter finish. Very creamy nitro body. Not bad.
4.0 Bomber sample at the tapless taproom in SLC. Mostly clear copper with a lacy white head. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, resin, honey. Tangerine, sweet peach, rock candy, caramel on the flavor. Very tasty, very balanced. Medium-plus body, nice resins to it. Most epic beer I’ve had here at Epic.
3.8 On nitro tap. Yellow with velvety white head. Fruity and hoppy aroma and taste. Nitro really makes this creamy.
3.9 Aroma is roasted malts, honey, tart, earthiness, funk and citrus. Taste is sweet malts, clove , tart and lemon grass. A puckering bitterness persists on finish but not overwhelming. Appearance is a hazy orange with a medium pearl head that retains quite well.
3.6 Draught at the Venice Ale House. Lasting off white head. Clowdy golden color. Mild American hop aroma. Resin you hop taste and good hop bitterness. Firm body.
3.5 I didn’t have this anywhere near fresh so take this as you will. Very well balanced, malt heavy, although a nice hop profile lingers in the background. Not a hop heads delight, but worth your time.
4.3 Had it on tap at Epic Brewing. pours a clear golden yellow pigment, with a white head and streaky sexy lacing. The aroma makes you thank the heavens for your ability to smell, it is a hop-gasm. The taste is smooth upfront dry in the middle and bitter on the backside. Sweet sassy molassesy kick me in the assy!!❣
3.7 Poured from the tap. Cloudy yellow orange with full off-white head. Heavy malt, light caramel, mild citrus hops, creamy, full body.
