4.6 Soo good, a very nice creamy chocolate, cofee and toasted malt taste that makes this beer an experience! Product from Salt Lake City in Utah, a must for stout lovers !
3.7 Type: 22-oz. bottle Glass: Karl Strauss 26th anniversary snifter glass From: Utah State Liquor Store #06 in Logan, Utah Price: $8.35 Purchased: May 2, 2015 Consumed: May 19, 2015 Misc.: Release #23 - Brewed on Oct. 23, 2014; Packaged Nov. 6, 2014; Brewed in Denver; 10.9 pct. ABV Poured a black color with two fingers of frothy tan head, which thinned out quickly. Good uneven layered lacing with some spottiness along the sides of the glass. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.13) Smelled chocolate, roasty malts, toasty nuts, caramel, dark chocolate syrup, smoky cocoa spices, faint coffee malts and sweet toffee. (Smell - 3.88) Tasted similar to the nose, but slightly better. Got chocolate syrup, rich roasty malts, dark cocoa, toasty nuts, caramel, toffee, rich coffee malts, smokiness and fudge. (Taste - 4.00) Full body. Creamy-to-sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter, slightly warming finish. (Feel - 4.13) This beer really grew on me. I may have underrated it a tad, but either way this was a tasty double imperial stout. (Overall - 4.00) 4.00 90 A-
3.7 Pitch black color with creamy light brown head. Nice roasted malt character with dark fruit, moderate sweetness, smooth velvety mouth. Low carbonation. Very full bodied. Lacks bitterness in the finish. Very approachable beer, but doesn’t take me anywhere that special and compared to Big Bad Bap this is a step down.
3.9 7.11.2014. Dryish roasted aroma, salty liquorice, chocolate. Taste is quite heavy, salty, coffee.
3.6 Black pour at Trevors pad I'm park city. 22 oz. brown head. Malty cocoa and choclate taste. Perty good
3.7 651 ml. bottle. Release #23. Den# 1956. 10.9% ABV per the label. Pours a thick, well retained, tiny bubble beige head, with extensive lacing, over a clear very dark brown (SRM 34) body......nose is chocolate, coffee, from the roasted malts, herbal notes from the yeast, balance to the malts.....taste is very lightly sweet, with tiny hints of dried fruits (raisin, fig), chocolate, coffee from the malts, finishing with a mild herbal hop bitterness, balance to the malts......mouth feel, medium slightly chewy body, alcohol warmth present, but not dominant, slight creaminess from the carbonation. This is a nicely done Imperial Stout. It does not have the depth and variation of aromas and flavors of the very best. A bit more caramel/crystal character would be nice. Perhaps a different yeast would be more ester forward creating more fruit notes and perhaps a bit of umami. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7
3.9 Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of molasses, roast, coffee into a bit of herbal and grassy notes, some earth into a bit of chocolate. Taste had a mix of chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit, slight caramel/molasses note into earth, herbal hops, finishing slightly roasted, slightly sweet.
3.8 Bottle 1 pt 6 fl oz thanks to Fredrik (non ratebeer), sampled on January 5, 2015. Wrote down "Exponential Series", but not the release or ABV. Likely fresh, Fredrik bought it fairly recently in US. Black color, dark brown head. Dry, coffee scent. Sweet, caramel, coffee, malty, chili taste. Smooth full mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
3.7 Release #13. Bomber. Near black with mocha head with reddish tint. Dissipates quickly. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and some ash. Taste is sweet with a nice bitter finish. Body is full and creamy. Nice brew.
3.8 This poured a dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma was of light ash, dark chocolate, light herbal character. Flavor similar, mildly ashy bit not too much or roasted. Silky mouthfeel. Nice.
3.5 Aroma of coffee, malt and alcohol. Pours black without much of a head. Tastes of coffee, malt and phenols. Creamy full bodied feel with a bitter finish.
3.0 poured from a bottle. Bark brown color, medium off white head. Mild pepper malt aroma. Medium body with a medium pepper malt flavor and a mild finish.
4.1 Poured from a bottle.  Part of a blind taste test.  Dark caramel color. Great creaminess. Bourbon taste.
3.8 Bottle thanks to Chow. Pours a very dark brown with large tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong roasted nuts, chocolate, wood. Medium mouth with nice roast, dark chocolate, sweet finish. Very good.
4.1 Bomber, batch #21. Nice roasty aroma with little molasses. Mahogany color, with few tan bubbles. Nice taste of molasses and licorice. Good bitterness. Very full bodied. Didn’t taste like 10.5%!
3.1 batch #20, 11.2%. Pikimusta, kermanruskea kohtalainen vaahto, tumman huumaava kahvinen tuoksu, ripaus kaakaotakin? Suutuntuma kaakaoisen liukas limainen, vetinen, pienenpieni polte. Kaakaoisen epämakea jälkimaku. Kokonaisuutena kuitenkin liian laimea.
3.8 65 cl bottle (11.2% abv) @ ISKTR 2014. Release #20. Pours black color with a reddish tint and small head. Coffee and cocoa on the nose, some toasty notes, caramel and chocolate. Velvety palate, lots of coffee and cocoa on the flavor also, toasted malts, mild wooden notes. Solid coffee stout. 4324
3.4 Bomber. #20. 11.2%. (Whole Foods) Washington, DC. Enjoyed at the ISKTR 2014. Black colour with a tiny tan head. Liquorice, coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate, mild alcohol and mild bitterness in the aroma. The flavour is roasted malt, ash dryness, coffee, alcohol and some harsh bitterness. Harsh Impy.
3.9 650ml bottle @ ISKTR 2014 Pours pitch black with a small light brown head. Aroma of salty licorice, roasty malts, some dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is heavy, salty and roasty with loads of licorice, dark chocolate and coffee. Finish is salty, roasty and slightly sweetish with loads of licorice, coffee and dark chocolate. Okay, but nothing special.
3.8 Bottle @ home. Arom is coffee, liquorice, roast, malt, hint of tar. Flavour is roasty liquorice, caramel, roasted mlats. Some burned flavours but still nice.
4.3 "Wish lister - Holy frikkin frik! I’ve liked Epic, but the only beer that’s blown me away from them was Big Bad Baptist. I got this to have side by side, hoping it was the base for BBB. I think it was. Lots of similarities, though without the coffee and bourbon. Big and chewy, classic imperial stout flavors...chocolate, roasted malt and coffee, anise, big fudgy aroma. Really really good brew - didn’t want the bottle to end, but we did have a BBB imediately after, so I took it rather well."
4.0 Bottle. Dark maroon brown color, thick beige had with grat retention. Nice aroma of dark roast coffee and cocoa. Taste is dark chocolate and subtle licorice. Very tasty.
3.8 Bottle from Total Wine. Black pour, thin off-white head. Aroma is quite roasty, some ash, chocolate, caramel, licorice and a bit burnt. Flavor is quite bitter, roasted and rough. A bit harsh but with a huge body and well balanced.
3.8 A very nice stout. Pours a deep black with a tan head. Smells of vanilla, a bit of coconut and coffee. Taste has lots of vanilla upfront, with a nice slightly bitter finish. Nice and complex. Had on tap at the brewery.
2.8 Tap. Black, minimal head, tan foam, very bitter, light sweetness, full body, sticky, average carbonation, & long finish.
3.8 22 oz bomber. Black in color with a decent tan head. Aroma is of molasses, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee. Taste is of coffee, roasted malts, molasses, booze and light smoke.
3.7 Bottle. The look is dark, black in color, tan head. The taste is plums, malt, burnt, prunes, and good. The smell is alcohol, malt, burnt, prunes, good.
4.0 Bottle says release #10. 11.1% ABV. Pours opaque black with thick mocha head. Nose plum, raisin, milk chocolate, minimal light roast, and hint of alcohol. Slightly earthy. To me, more fruit forward than roast forward. Taste dark chocolate, slightly tannic, then dark fruit. Mid palate fairly sweet. Alcohol sneaks in right at the end prior to a milk chocolate finish.
3.3 (Release #15. 10.2%. SLC#1285) Merci Pat. J’ai été impressionné par ce monstre d’iode que ce n’est. On se croirait dans un laboratoire pharmacologique. Une belle réglisse en bouche sauve la mise. Très amère,
3.6 Delicious. Sweet with a moderate mouthfeel. White head and pitch black black color. A hint of caramel with the malt and sweetness
