3.0Draught at City Beer. Black with a tan head. Aroma of dark fruit. Warm boozy start, dry malt, fruit on licorice, very dry base. Sour finish.
4.2Botella de Tercer Tiempo Tienda (Santander) Espuma densa marrón, olor fuerte a malta torrefacta, cacao y café, sabir maltoso torrefactado con bastante toque de cacao, caramelo, café, cuerpo medio-denso.
3.4Dark beer that's not too filling or too thick.
3.6Bottle at home. Pours black with brown head. Rich, sweet, malty aroma. Flavors of slightly bitter coffee, chocolate, a little tart fruit. Rich mouthfeel. Warming finish with some hop bitterness and a little cloying sweetness left behind. Some good flavors here, decent complexity. A good imperial stout.
4.4Piana drobna kremowa trwała, zdobi szkło. Kolor czarny. Piwo słodkie z czekoladowo paloną kontrą i wysoką owocowością. Alkohol ukryty nasycenie niskie, wysoka pijalność, całość zagrała wyśmienity RIS. WOW
4.3Siempre bien
4.0BOTTLE 33 CL. Pitch black with a dark espresso head. Huge aroma of dried dates, candied fruit and sticky molasses, maple syrup, the black malts are barely noticeable. Slight hints of salty roast and booze. The taste is good balance of dark fruit, dark sugars and molasses, roasted malts, moderate grassy hops and a touch of alcohol. Rich and easy drinking body. Very good. (Backlog 16-JAN-2017).
3.6Dark chocolate, cacao, dark roast coffee, dark, very toasted malts. Hazy, very dark brown, tiny, creamy, beige head. Light bitter. More cacao, dark chocolate, light citrus fruits, lemon, more dark malts, soft carbonation, full bodied. Nice Impy, not too heavy, quite refreshing palate. Bottle shared at Leighton’s - thanks to The_Osprey!
2.9July 2017 - Bottle share at LKS. As 'Evil Twin Christmas Eve at a New York City Hotel Room', 2011 vintage, 10%. Opaque black, small ring of brown head. Aroma is meaty, sugary, blueberry, some mint. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is tart and earthy, metallics, spicy. A bit metallic and tart – age hasn't been overly kind to this one. That's the risk you take! (5-4-4-4-12=2.9)
3.8Appearance: Opaque near black. Finger of mocha small to medium bubbles.
Nose: Smoky. Deeply roasted malt. Black coffee notes. touch sweetness.
Taste: Dark nearly scorched malts. Bittersweet with chocolate, and dark coffee and smoke.
Body: medium to fuller with soft carbonation
Parting thoughts: I have no clue what is going on with the name of this beer. it’s potent, complex and flavorful. Pricy and hard to find. Intriguing. You don’t see touches of smoke very often.
3.8Pour is a pure black with a larger than usual tan head. Aroma is chared malt, burnt molasses. Nice and roasted but sweet as well. Flavor is an intense char and dry bitter bakers chocolate. A little roast, molasses and some fudge brownie is left on the tongue. Alcohol is not felt in the mouth but in the chest it is really warming. Not a hoppy Impy stout this is all about the roasted malt.
4.9Christmas Eve At A New York City Hotel Room has a thin, beige head, a very dark brown (essentially black) appearance, and no glass lacing. The aroma is of metal, raisins, dark fruit, black strap molasses, leather, dark malt, and brown bread crust. Taste is of chocolate, malt, raisin, dark bread crust, and just a touch of acrid bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy and velvety, and CEAANYCHR finishes sweet and strong. RJT
4.0Bottle shared at Leightons place, 31/07/2017. Many thanks to Daniel for this one. A dark brown black coloured pour with a lasting lose tan head. Aroma is chocolate malts, waxy, mild coconut, black malts, oak.. Flavour is composed of tangy raspberry, black berries, forest gateau. Flavour is composed od tangy blackberry, black very. Palate is tangy, medium sweet, brown sugars. . .
3.4Bottle shared in Hackney - big thanks to Daniel. Pours black-brown with a creamy, khaki head. The nose holds soft roast, cocoa, tangy dark berries. Medium to big sweet flavour with nips of tangy berries, bitter cocoa, earth. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly tangy, with hints of metal, cherry, leaves. Showing some signs of age but still fun.
4.033 bottle shared, Bottle thanks to Bartlebier.
Apperance: Opaque pitch black body, with a medium sized brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma: dark malts, chocolate, lightly roasty, leaves, caramel.
Taste: dark malts, chocolate, light roast, leaves, caramel , solid dark malty bitterness and even some nice hops for a stout. Very refined in taste.
Oily texture, full body, a bit too much carbonation for it’s style, slightly above average I would say.
Taste is really balanced out, and a prime example of the style, except for that too powerfull carbonation.
4.1355ml bottle. Black with a small thin beige head. Chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, caramel, dark fruits and liquorice. Complex and good.

4.3Aus der Flasche 2016-12 getrunken. Schnörkeloses fettes Imperial Stout. Röstnoten sind sehr gut balanciert. Klasse.
Final seco, amargor bem discreto no retrogosto. Médio corpo e carbonatação. Bem interessante, frutada, saborosa, presença discreta do álcool.
4.3Piwo skonsumowane. Ocena na podstawie retrospekcji w celu uzupełnienia profilu.
4.212 oz bottle from back in the middle of 2015 - thankfully, stouts keep quite well! Pours a deep black shade with a minimal layer of tan froth. Aroma is strongly dominated by dark chocolate and roasted malt, with hardly any trace of hops. Taste follows the nose, rich draft chocolates and roasty malts, sweet to the taste with a absolutely divine chewiness and thickness in the mouthfeel. Carbonation is average which nicely balances out the thickness and smoothness of the mouthfeel with its buzziness.
4.7Tap. Very dark black beer with tan head. Strong chocolate aroma, caramel, sweet. Taste of chocolate, coffee beans. Long lasting aftertaste. Very well balanced. Amazing!
4.712 oz bottle from Liberty Beer in Pittsburgh. The name says it all - as dark and gloomy as implied. A bit sweet but who can complain about that?
4.1Bottle with thanks to my mother-in-law. Pours like used motor oil with a tan head that dies back fairly quickly and aromas of chocolate, prune, cream and a little charcoal. Flavor is harsh at first... kind of a blast of ash and charcoal that doesn’t fade quite quickly enough for me. It hangs on and leaves a pucker rather than blossoming into the chocolate, vanilla and dark fruit promised in the nose. This is a bit of a shame since the pour and nose were so enticing. It’s not awful, but I expected to be completely blissed out after the first sip.
4.4The smell is grape, blueberry, coffee, chocolate, very strange, the look dark as hell, the taste dark fruit, chocolate and coffee. Great beer, really good aged, aged my about a 1 and a half, really good!
4.2Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, dark fruit, liquorice, chocolate, molasses and roasted malts.
Appearance:
Opaque black beer with a slight/medium brown head.
Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, dark fruit, liquorice, chocolate and molasses; ends slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts.
Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Great liquorice flavour and palate all throughout this beer. Perfect appearance to back this all up. The aroma could have been stronger however.
4.0Bottle served in a glass,
this beer poured very dark brown and black, and made a half finger dark tan cover that receded to a ring and sparse film of bubbles, it left some spots of lacing that ran off the sides of the glass,
the nose had aromas of roasted malt, coffee and coffee bean, some roasted malt bitterness, roasted grain, a touch of burnt roasted malt notes,
a little licorice and molasses,
the flavors were intense roasted malt, almost smokey and some burnt notes, roasted grain, black coffee,
a little dark chocolate (little to no sweetness, sort of similar to Bakers chocolate),
there was very little sweetness in this drink, the roasted malt bitterness left some bitterness that lingered on the palate,
the mouth feel was medium or a little thicker, it had a bit of a creamy feel on the lips and this beer had average carbonation,
this drink had intense roasted malt notes on the nose and flavor,
a nice drink.
3.2Batch 6. Pours down brown, black in glass with a finger of medium brown head. Brown sugar & roasted malt aroma. Taste actually starts off kinda like a dark soda; roasted nuts and brown sugars. Medium malt middle. Ends with big coffee bitterness. Warms up with a red grape sweetness. Medium body with very crisp, high carbonation; really makes it feel like a soda!
